Birthing Stone’s highly trained, professional labor and postpartum doulas offer you the best support possible during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

We offer labor and postpartum doulas for Portland and surrounding areas. Our professional doulas meet with expecting parents twice a month at our Pregnancy Support groups, and with new parents weekly at our New Parent groups. We offer childbirth education, Comfort in Labor classes, support for twins, VBAC, and all family structures.

History

Established in 2011.

Inspired by phenomenal support during my own birth, I decided to enter the birth world to give back unconditional, non-​judgmental support to other birthing women.

I completed my labor training at Mother Tree, including their intensive 6 month internship and my postpartum training through CAPPA. I also worked as a Mother Tree Doula prior to venturing out on my own.

I’m currently certified through DONA for labor support and always seeking continuing education.

Since leaving Mother Tree in the early spring of 2013, I’ve been honored with staying booked just from word of mouth referrals from past clients and providers.

I am always honored to be invited to a birth to hold the space for families to have an empowered and positive birth.

Intuition, patience and an open mind are the foundation of my support to you. Your birthing plan is my priority and my goal is to blend into your individual plan. I am particularly comfortable in navigating the hospital environment and working as a team with care providers. While I specialize in single mommas, first time mommas, non-​traditional families, my support transforms to support all mommas.

Ongoing education and training is important to me. I have extended my training to not only include the DONA-​approved certification, but also an intensive 6 month long internship with Mother Tree Birth. I advanced my labor training by completing the Spinning Babies workshop, HUG trainings, and lactation education modules. I am also trained and experienced in postpartum care, with my CAPPA.

I was initially reluctant to hire a doula, but since I was trying for a VBAC we made the decision to hire Megan.
Megan was everything we hoped and more. She took the time to listen to what we wanted and helped us to see things clearly. When I went into labor she came right away and helped me through some rough spots. (It’s labor, what about it isn’t rough??) She was there for the birth of my daughter and even though I didn’t have a VBAC, she was supportive and stayed with me the whole surgery just talking to me and updating me on the progress of the birth.
After we came home Megan checked up on us and brought us our placenta pills.
Tiffany, a postpartum doula, came a few weeks after my daughter was born, so I could have some much needed one on one time with my son.
I could not have had a more perfect experience with Megan and Tiffany, I was given the utmost care and respect and I will forever remember how much they impacted my life.

Knowledgable and kind. I haven’t used them as a doula but I definitely will with the next one. I met Tiffany at her office when I joined a new moms group. she has all the answers and connections to answer Any questions you might have. I did not know what a doula was until she answered. I’ve heard great things from other moms too. Def recommend them. I believe she teaches classes too.

As a first time father to-​be I was nervous and overwhelmed to say the least. A close friend suggested we work with a doula and our OBGYN suggested the same. Looking back, it was the absolute smartest decision we made in the nine months of preparing for the birth of our daughter.
Tiffany Decker is exactly what you hope for in a doula. She is professional, caring, compassionate, supportive, and knowledgeable and we are happy to say that she is now a part of our family.
When Tiffany visited us at home she listened to our concerns, answered all of our questions, and left us with a wealth of resources for further research. As the due date approached Tiffany helped us prepare our birth plan and presented all the possible situations we might face like natural birth, epidural, induction, and cesarean. Most importantly, she gave us the confidence that we could do this no matter what happened.
Once labor started, Tiffany was by our side throughout the ENTIRE labor and delivery which lasted over 36 hours! It was so difficult to watch my wife be in pain but it was amazing to see Tiffany in action! Her knowledge of technique to cope with the labor pain was incredible. It was during these difficult hours I was so glad we had a doula, and blessed we had one as awesome as Tiffany!
As the labor progressed we were faced with many difficult decisions we didn’t account for in our birth plan, specifically having to have a cesarean. Tiffany excelled again in this the face of difficult decisions. She was included in all of our conversations with the OBGYN and navigated the hospital environment and operating room effortlessly. She was by our side during the delivery and gave both of us support while also photographing the birth story of our daughter.
In short, Tiffany gave us confidence in ourselves, provided balanced insight, and supported our every decision and she was especially supportive of my needs and concerns as the father to be. I am sure this is what most doulas offer, but Tiffany was such a very kind and compassionate person, we were blessed to have her in our lives.
