Brannon’s Pub and Brewery

Ok I want to like this place, but…
Let me start with the positive’s burgers are really good, beer selection is great and the tables are great for watching sports. The rest of the food needs some work. I went for HH and just happen to also have a normal menu on the table so just looked at prices to compare. The HH menu prices were the same prices as the normal menu. I pointed this out to the waiter who was very confused and said they had been changing the menus and using a different printing company. He then handed me the dinner menu where the prices were actually a little bit higher but not much. So basically HH prices are lunch prices. Totally not worth it. Overall I have given this place many chances, tried different food but there are too many other places with better food and better HH prices. Makes me sad since it’s such a great atmosphere for sports.

I tried coming here on Saturday to try their beers and watch the Timbers game. A sign on the door said they were closed until further notice.

I really wanted to like this place. I did not in the end.
The décor and setting is nice but wide open and load.
Marshell, our waiter, seemed disinterested and got several things wrong on our order. To pay the check we had to wander the restaurant to find him.
I hoped the food would be good as it was interesting on the menu. I did not find that it could overcome the service.
I would not recommend this place and I will not return.

Happy hour is da bomb here! Beer is 3.50 a pop, food is crazy delicious… see pics and the service was spot on! I’ll def be back. …Even if I live in Cali!

Love the beer and atmosphere! In the bar each table has it’s own controls for it’s TV. They brew their own beer, have plenty of space for meetings and large parties. Also have a game room with darts and foos ball. The fried macaroni balls are delicious!
Definitely going back here!

The three sausage and pretzel plate is three HALF sausages, my boyfriend was a bit puzzeled by that.
The burger was fine, but nothing amazing.
We won’t be back, not worth trying again.

I found this place through open table & expected it to be a pretty nice place. I love what someone else said about how badly I wanted to like this place! There is a ton of potential but it mostly fell flat.
When we walked in it smelled like something was burning but we’re told to sit anywhere — there was only 1 other family in there on a Thursday at 7.
I I had the fish & tots– it was pretty good but I only needed the 2 pieces. It was different because it was baked but pretty good. The ranch tasted weird but overall the food was alright. Bacon jam? Ehhh not so much.
Seating wasn’t very comfortable and we had to move at one point because the sun was blinding.
½ way through our meal the kitchen burned something else and it smoked out the entire place — they didn’t open any doors or do anything to try to clear it up — someone with asthma may have had more of an issue.
The windows allowed for lots of excellent sun but they were filthy so it was hard to appreciate it.
My low stars are much more about atmosphere than the food. It would probably be a much nicer if you ate outside.

NEW AND AWESOME! I haven’t had the pleasure of fully experiencing all of the wonderful perks of this place; but, from what I have seen from the bar area has been fun, spacious, and at the same time, kind of intimate. Circular bar area where you can see the brewery section, the kitchen and the other room that holds games I believe. Around the bar are TVs, and there are TVs at each table around the bar, which is AWESOME.
This place brews their own beer and it also has other beers as well. I think I ordered the red ale and liked it? Haha
I ordered the Irish nachos, which were BOMB! It was just potatoes chips served w avocado, tomato, beans, sour cream, and other yummy ingredients to give your mouth a flavorful bang! I’d recommend ordering this.
I ordered the baked chicken wings, which is good if you like non-​crispy and a bit tangy. Personally, I like chicken wings to be crispy and little to no tang.
I ordered the Italian sausage pizza, which was not bad. I think the only thing that was questionable about this entrée was the clumps of Parmesan cheese. Maybe if it was spread, it would have been better?
I ordered the chocolate dessert. The brownie was really gooey and it was served with vanilla bean ice cream and some raspberry nut jam spread over the plate. It was good
I like the atmosphere — the servers are accommodating and really friendly. Definitely would come back again and again, even if it wasn’t during HH

A solid 3 to 3.5, almost 4. The pluses: sunday is ALL DAY happy hour… ALL. DAY! The food is really tasty. Fries, burger, chips. Lose the homemade sweet ketchup, Heinz does it best, there is no other, so don’t bother.
Minuses: kids menu… abysmal. 4 things on it, two of them being pizza. And well, if you’ve had pizza the night before and the night before that, who wants pizza again? Grilled cheese? Buttered noodles?
Also, we were given the «specials» menu, and then told about 6 things they didn’t have. So, kind of annoying.
I would definitely come back. Maybe beef up the kids menu!

At first walk-​in, it seems very big and empty. The bar is located in the middle of the restaurant and has a circular wall around it, so it doesn’t have a great vibe outside of that area. It’s great inside the bar area, though. There are several tables with a personal TV and remote to change the channel, with full cable. This goes along with the 4 or so huge tvs they have above the bar. I am looking forward to coming here during football season!
The brews– I only had one of their house brews, their heliograph IPA, and it was awesome. They have a relatively short but sweet brew list of their own. It had a great range from light to dark.
The food– I got a personal pepperoni pizza. The pizza was pretty good, and I could taste the quality ingredients used to make it. Wood fired, but not thin crust.
The service– I asked our hostess if the pizzas were 2 dollars off for late night (8-​close) as I saw on their website. She told me that they changed that to doing a happy hour from 9-​close, but only on the weekdays, or something. Kind of disappointing, but whatever, it’s just a 2 dollar difference. When I got our check, she charged the pizzas and beers as the «late night» price I saw online. This was a very nice gesture for their website seemingly giving some wrong info. Very good service while we were there!

I want to like it… it’s a locally owned place that brews beer… and that should be supported. We will go again and see if the atmosphere is better.
Went on a Saturday afternoon… of NCAA Final Four weekend… at the start of the first game. And there were crickets in Brannon’s. I’m not sure why.
The German sausage platter I had was pretty good. The two beers I had (Aerostat Saison and Butteridge ESB) were fine. It’s just… echo-​y in there. The strip mall location feels very strip-​mall-​y.
While the personal TVs in the bar are neat, it seems like they promote an un-​bar like feel. Sorta like being in a public place and everyone staring at their phone, I guess.
I dunno… this is a horribly written review, I guess because I’m so undecided how I feel about Brannon’s. I guess we’ll go again to see if my writing gets any better. lol

So first off, a disclaimer: I only tried a couple beers, not a full boat meal.
After my buddy and I hit up Abhiruchi for some Indian food, I remembered a co worker telling me about Brannon’s so I suggested we hit it up. Now we rolled outta there STUFFED, so I only had room for one beer or so. Brannon’s isn’t just a taphouse, most of what they pour is their own brew. Keeps with the Oregon tradition, for sure. One thing I liked was the bartender knew his way around the tap list and they’ll pour a taster of whatever you want for free. THATS how is supposed to be! We tried the imperial red, the Belgian strong, and the farmhouse ale. Not a bad one in the bunch. Actually ever last one of them was really good. So good that even though we both ordered the Belgian, the barkeep somehow misheard that as a pint of our tasters (I initially asked for the red) I didn’t even care that I got a glass of the red, it was a close call either way.
The whole ‘vibe’ and décor more or less work for me. The logo is all old school looking, and they have all these old style stamped gears on the ceiling. Lends a bit of a steampunk/​industrial look to the place and I like that. The TVs at the tables are a nice touch… at least they WILL be during football season.
Ill say this: normally I don’t go for Belgian style beers that aren’t actually brewed IN Belgium… same for German brews. In fact, I think that the USA generally sucks at making beers that arent more or less our own style. But that blonde strong ale was delicious. Likewise for the farmhouse ale. The Imperial red had a dry oaky, malty taste rounded out by that dry hopped kick that I tend to like in a red. Rogue’s St Rogue, or Hopworks’ Rise Up Red are great examples of that and Brannon’s imperial red fell in line with that.
Ill be back to try the food and more beers. Some things looked like a must have such as the bacon wrapped brat. Others like the Detroit style pizza… um ya… NO. Im a pizza snob, and if it isn’t straight up New York style then I don’t want it!

This place is pretty cool. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy so we got one of the last tables. Each table comes with it’s own TV and remote, which is pretty crazy. You can choose between cable channels or satellite channels and they have upgraded sports packages so you can pretty much get any game… which my husband loved.
Service was good but nothing special. Salads were yummy, apps were delish (fried mac n cheese was amazing) and entrees were pretty good as well. Two friends got burgers and raved about it for hours. Another friend loved the fish n’ chips… pizzas were so-so…didn’t really compare to the other food though. Dessert list is lacking so that is my only recommendation on how to improve. The oatmeal cookie with ice cream and honey was stellar… but the chocolate torte… not so much.
All in all, a good spot that we’ll definitely go to often.

Lots of good things and a few not-​so-​good going on at Brannon’s. I’ll start with the good. The fries are really friggin good. I made the mistake of ordering a side of their bacon jam thinking it was actually a «jam» (and I would be dipping my fries in it, because why not, I’m a glutton) and learned what a true bacon jam is — it’s less a jam and more of a relish. Live and learn. Back to the fries: they’ve been crisp, perfectly salted and just about perfect on each of my few visits. I’ve had a couple different burgers, and while they’re good they’re definitely on the side of small. However, they’re not «slider» small, just not massive. Big eaters will want to consider an appetizer. For my money, they’re perfect. I had an Irish nacho for lunch a few weeks back, and it was pretty tasty as well. It’s served with their house made potato chips, which are thin, crispy and delicious. Beer: yep, they brew and serve it. Pretty dang good. I’ve had everything except their brown, porter or the saison. I rather enjoy the Imperial Red; malty and complex with a potent alcoholic punch. Heliograph IPA is one of the fruitier IPAs I’ve ever tasted, along with a distinct pine punch. Good stuff. Service: has been very good.
On to the «just okay» stuff — unfortunately the restaurant itself doesn’t have much in the way of character (at all). It’s kinda stark and barren, and *cavernous*, which doesn’t contribute to much of an impression. Honestly, my very first thought upon walking in for the first time is that overhead expenses must be utterly massive. The place is huge! Add in the dedicated conference rooms (which can accommodate many people) and a game room in one corner and it’s just… too much real estate (seemingly). Tack on the iPads and TVs surrounding the bar and… I dunno, it’s not my place to criticize their choice of décor — but I would have done without the high tech gadgetry and instead built or bought some cozy, comfortable booths along the exterior. That alone would go a long way toward improving the atmosphere.
Is the structure and layout of the interior enough to deduct 1(.5) stars for me? Yeah. They’re on the right track, for sure, which is why I rounded up. I think if they can inject some character into the place it’ll serve them well.

Sunday 1:30 pm, walked in to this nearly empty place, no hostess or servers in sight. A few families with small kids scattered in the cavernous dining room which wraps around a huge and empty bar. Sign at the entry says seat yourself. We wondered around the empty space, peeking in private rooms and empty corners, finally chose a well lit table near a family who looked to be waiting for food, kids coloring tools spread across the table, crayons and line drawings waiting to be filled in, pints for the parents the only signs of nourishment.
Big open kitchen had two cooks moving a the speed of… wait they were hardly moving. Still no sign of any wait staff, hostess or glimmer of a restaurant business going on. And we waited as the kitchen staff did their best impression of an underwater slow motion dance.
Five minutes passed waiting at our selected table and nothing, on one acknowledging we were customers. The long walk to the door was our first sighting of floor staff, a bewildered young server holding crayons and drawing paper, standing like a deer in the road not knowing which way to go. Not a word to us as we passed by. We will never know how the food is here or sadly the beer either. Nothing just nothing.

I was really excited when I heard the owner on the radio a while back. While I don’t like beer brew pub food is something I do like.
I’m afraid our visit fell short of our expectations. It was very empty and the stark décor made it feel more so. Some art on the walls perhaps. A little less bright light spilling from kitchen too dining room? We did like the TV concept.
On to food.
The Thai wings. Ok. Not super flavorful w/​med spice. Why are they on a bed of lettuce? It was odd and wilted.
Scotch eggs. I will give an a+. First one I have had in years with a real runny middle.
Stuffed burger. I though this was the highlight. Loved the tomato jam. Tender and juicy.
Did not like the fries extra w burger. It might have been ok if the chips were fresh cooked They were not even warm.
I was also not impressed with my tall rum and coke from the bar. It was not in a tall glass.
I hope that you guys can use everyone comments to tweak the menu and pub. We really need a great place in Beaverton. We will be back to give you another try.

Well god damn! Did I just die and go to carb heaven? I think I did! What a nice new little surprise in the Beav. A brewery is something this part of town needed.
Started off with a ‘Bees Knees’ cocktail. Good choice. Highly recommend. For dinner I had the Mac and cheese and added tri tip (because why the hell not!). Super rich and hard to eat the whole dish, but I learned it’s just as delicious for lunch the day after :)
The ambiance in this place is cool. Lots of TVs so you don’t miss out on Mythbusters or the Blazer game.
Definitely excited to come back and try all of the beers!

I was excited when I saw that Beaverton was getting a new brew pub. I do have to say up front that I absolutely hate the sign outside — the color and the font — but maybe that’s just me.
I sat at the bar, there were only about 8 people there at the time, but I wasn’t even acknowledged by the staff for a full 5 or 6 minutes. I couldn’t ever figure out why, there seemed to be enough staff (more staff than customers) and the all seemed to be busy. The food did come out quickly. I tried their golden ale, it was good, but I also had a stout that was excellent.
The Mac and Cheese balls were good but nothing special — they need something to give them a little punch, maybe some smoked cheese or a bit of a spice kick? The Italian Pig Burger was actually quite good.
All in all a pleasant experience and I will difinitely be back.

I understand the A-​ok, 3-​star reviews. We had a nice visit for Happy Hour. I wanted to love this place and there is so much potential here!
Love the concept: sports bar, personal TVs you control with both satellite and cable (in the bar at many tables), good free WiFi, craft brews made on premises (you can see the brewery from the back of the restaurant/​bar). It is also clean and has a modern/​industrial looking vibe with open kitchen and wood fired oven too boot. Nicely done.
They are a working brew pub: So you expect:
1. good bar food at a good price since you are there to have food and beer
2. great beers and
3. so so service.
What we got was:
1. good food, locally sourced products, a notch above typical pub food-​on paper
2. really super good beers (BUT my pint was ¾ full with ¼ head) and
3. very good service
So why only 3 stars? Besides the shorting us with crappy pint pours; The food PRICES are ridiculously HIGH (just look at their online menu, for which everything has increased in prices already as well as changed, be warned).
For example: $ 8.5 for a HH single serving micro pizza. That’s over $ 2 per tiny slice with barely any meat and toppings and it was just ok in flavor. They make the pizza in house, so the crust was fired and quite good, but it is apparent they are «paying for» the huge new investment by gouging their customers with over-​priced food. Burger was good, fairly juicy, but on the small side and it was 30% more $$ than you pay at most pubs and doesn’t come with fries, just chips ($ 10 for plain burger, no cheese). Deviled eggs, 5 halves or 2.5 eggs for $ 5.50, and I make better at home. Eggs are cheap, and making deviled eggs requires little skill, time or ingredients
On the other hand (the save): The beers were excellent, better than most other SW Burbs brew pubs. I’d go back for the beer alone. Growler fills are $ 15 at the door or $ 10 if you are inside as a patron. Such a shame, since we would rather just have a growler fill and go, not have to dine on the food. Beers at HH are $ 3.5 of their own beers only, now that’s a HH price, unlike the food!
We probably won’t be back except for a beer since we expect better food at these prices and from a regular restaurant. Brannon’s is trying to be a fine dining restaurant/​brew pub (with prices to match) and it doesn’t deliver.

On Saturday I called around 10:00am.
«Do you serve brunch?» I asked.
«We open at at 9 on weekends» said irritated girl.
«Yes, I saw that online but your menu on the web does not indicate if you serve eggs etc.??» I said.
Heavy sigh.” Ill get the menu” said irritated girl. Clomp.clomp. Rustle. Rustle. Rustle.
After some time she came back.” We serve breakfast pizzas, breakfast sandwiches, and dutch babies. «
“Ok thank you» I said.
«Uh huh». Click.
Not an auspicious start. Dining companion and I arrived for breakfast about 9:45 on Sunday. We were greeted by a friendly smiling young lady and also served by yet another one. The Saturday girl must’ve been off.good. If youre a new restaurant put your friendliest best people up front and on phone duty. That’s first contact. That grumpy girl doesnt get a do-​over with me.
It was pretty empty in there. As dining companion pointed out, theres an attempt to be steampunk that is sort of half done. We were served very strong coffee and yummy oj (we were not offered more coffee but did get water refills btw) and our food arrived in short order.
Choices for breakfast? Scotch eggs with taters, frittatas, breakfast pizzas, breakfast sandwiches, not a lot of choices. But adequate. Except there needs to be a basic egg breakfast, or an omelet, or granola and fruit???
I got a $ 11 dutch baby with apple compote. It came in an adorable cast iron skillet. It was cooked well but was bland. Needed some lemon zest or something.
Dining companions eggs benedict pizza $ 13arrived with a hard cooked fried egg (shoulda been poached and runny). The crust, pesto, and overall flavor was good. It was a little salty. Dining companion complained that it was small.
Brannons is not really a brunch place. At least, not yet. A mimosa special and a few tweaks to their breakfast menu (an eggs and bacon with toast and taters for $ 8 say or some biscuits and gravy or a waffle) and it could be.
Brannons has some interesting menu items and beers. I will be back for lunch or dinner to try them. Brunch? Maybe in a while.
