Creekside Village

My dad has lived in these senior apartments for the last three years.
They are not assisted living because they don’t have any nursing or medical type caregivers on staff. If your loved one needs that but is reasonably independent and with it you can hire them from outside. My dad fired a number of his care givers but that had nothing to do with Creekside or the caregivers and more to do with him.
He is a cranky old you know what that is what he is. He’s been that way for 84 years, too.
They do have meals in a dining room, activities, emergency pull cords in all the rooms, some housekeeping, and tranportation to medical appointments within an eight mile radius. These have to be arranged in advance. Housekeepers do not do dishes and laundry is up to the resident. My dad found someone to do his. (No, not me I barely manage my own laundry and my daughter’s)
I think overall this has been a good place for my dad. Now he needs more care. Last week he had a visit from the paramedics in the morning and they didn’t take him to the hospital and no one checked on him during the day, because Creekside doesnt have the staff to do that. When I arrived later to take him to the doctor he had slept through lunch and hadn’t left his chair. I think we knew for a while that my dad needed more care but this was a good reminder for us as to why.
Creekside is a sweet place and fairly reasonable for what they offer.
My dad’s apartment had a full sized refrigerator, a two burner stove, sink, roomy bathroom with tub, three closets, balcony, ok sized bedroom (queen sized bed fit fine), and overall his experience here has been good. Its in pretty good shape for an older place and most of the staff here is caring.
The reason I can’t give four stars is there has been a lot of turnover in directors, (the new one seems nice so far fyi) and my dad hasn’t been consistently thrilled with the food. I think its probably adequate. He liked breakfast best. (Family trait).
Btw apartments in the back have the best views.
Dad is moving on to a place with nursing care near Providence St Vincent’s.
