Established in 1983.

Fresh Start Detail is not a recent start-​up company like so many other detail shops nowadays. We’ve been in business since 1983 and have survived and thrived because of our mission statement:

Thanks to our many returning clients and the friends they refer to us, we’ve enjoyed a profitable and stable existence through many changing times. We’ve survived several economic ups and downs by keeping our debt low and our overhead costs reasonable, and by providing TRUE VALUE to our clients.

Business Owner

Jason is an Oregon native who was raised on a small farm in rural Clackamas county by his parents with two siblings. In a home environment of strong work ethics, pride in his country, and «you can achieve anything» encouragement from his Mom, Jason grew to love challenges and competition. After attending college for a year in Portland, he pursued a drafting career but after four years he longed to be self-​employed like his Dad. He found the perfect opportunity when he purchased Fresh Start Detail Company in 1995.

I purchased a new black car and after getting it home, realized that the entire car had water spots. I asked friends for references of places that they have had their cars detailed.
Fresh Start Detail Co. seemed to be the most knowledgeable of the three places I contacted. A big concern of mine was damaging the black paint.
Needless to say, when I came to pick up my car it looked amazing! The paint actually had a sparkle in it that wasn’t visible until Fresh Start Detail Co. did their magic. The glass was amazing as well and now my visibility is perfect.
Really great people to deal with, I will be back and have referred several friends their way.

Excellent auto detail inside and out, polish and wax job was swirl free and glass was spotless. They got out a couple clear coat scuffs without a trace. Speedy ahead-​of-​time completion for service and convenient rental car option; Jason is the best!

Horrible service, brought my Suburban in and they did a good job, finger prints were left on the back windows paid extra to have the seats removed and shampooed under them, found out it was never cleaned at all. Upon first glance we thought they did a great job very friendly, the next day took my mini in charged the same amount as my Suburban and the mini driver area was cleaned, but nothing else, my husband left quickly as we had sold the mini and we needed to have it detailed per our agreement to the buyer when we got to the buyer and saw that it still had dirt int he back and all over the back seats. We had to discount the sale of the car for them to take it somewhere else — so we Fresh start got ALL our money and we got TWO cars which had to go to different detail shops to actually get cleaned. BUMMED as wanted to support a local company but not at the cost of $ 900.

2000 Audi with dog hair, and the issues that come from 14 years of love and life in a car. They did such a great job on this car it is now ready for photos to prep for sale! Fresh Start did an incredible job making the interior fresh and new looking, the exterior shiny and gorgeous!

I have been going to Fresh Start every 6 months for the last 3 years. Each time I buy a new car, I take it to them for the paint protection service which is worth every penny. Then I take it in every 6 months after that for a wax treatment. My car always looks fantastic, no matter what the weather (read, rain). When I traded in my last car, the dealer said, «Wow, you take really good car of your cars!» I give all the credit to Jason and the guys at Fresh Start for that. I usually drop it off there and walk over to Ava Roasteria with my laptop for a cup of tea while I’m waiting. Last time, Jason gave me a gift card to use there :) I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants to keep their car looking sharp.

First time using the company. Was preparing a car for sale.
First couple looking at the car ended up purchasing it. I am convinced that the good work of FSD had a lot to do with their decision.
I did the full package minus engine cleanup. (Buyers actually appreciated that we did NOT clean the engine; helped them trust that they are no leaks etc.). At $ 348 it was not inexpensive, but I feel it was worth it. Buyers paid the full asking price without haggling.
One suggestion: If you bring the car first for an initial quote, write down clearly what was quoted and for how much, or get it in writing from Jason, the owner. I did that and it came handy when another employee gave a somewhat different quote. They were very good at honoring the initial quote once I showed it to them, despite the fact that it was written in my own sloppy handwriting.

I love these guys! My husband still drives his 2000 Chevy GMC Sierra 4X4 extended Cab Truck, it just passed 60K miles and looks brand new on the outside.
The inside was looking a bit less than brand new after 2 dogs, so he made me take it here for service on the interior. They were very nice, gave me a loaner even though it would only take a few hours, they knew I had shoppin to do!
I paid full price (no Groupon here) and it was worth every penny. They did a great job and it looks brand new and smells great. They were very nice to boot! I find many places I go where Men are the Owners treat me like a dumb female which I am not. These folks were very professional.
As a HUGE bonus they found one of my husband’s very expensive Pocket Knives which we thought he lost long ago, they could have taken it and we would have never been the wiser but they left it on the seat for us. We were relieved and delighted and thankful!
Great folks, I wish I owned a car long enough to take it there, maybe someday!
We have recommended them to everyone we know and they have all been very satisfied customers!

I really appreciated the loaner car. They did such a good job waxing my van I brought my CR-​V as well. The prices were reasonable for the service provided. I don’t Groupon so not sure what all the fuss was about. Groupon is a scam. The customer whining about his experience should realize that you need to be on time to an appointment. I will be back.

I did miss the appointment which doesn’t entitle you to treat people like crap and retailiate out of spite. As we are currently living in the bay area, trips home to the greater Portland area are fairly regular, and the drive takes its toll on the van, as do the back seat passengers. While home we like to take care of things that are more affordable in Portland than SF, and a great car detail is on that list. Fresh Start is our place for getting in to all the nooks and crannies, where they find a plethora of trash, and often a wealth of Lego pieces. (Thank you for saving the Darth Vader mini from utter loss/​destruction) These guys know how to serve with a smile, and the end product is fantastic. I like to go to places where the employees take pride in their work and Fresh Start Detail is no exception. The owner is easy to work with, straight forward, and has a sense of humor. With so many places to choose from I was very happy to find such a gem in Fresh Start Detail Co.

Went here on a Groupon and they really do a good job. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because their rates seem a bit pricy and they left some areas of my car not detailed clean. But again it’s my fault for not coming back and getting them to fix it (they would have done that without an appt) but I got too busy w/​my week:-(And if you need it, they give BMW loaner cars for just $ 5!

Jason is about the nicest guy you will ever meet. Efficient, honest, and just a damn hard worker are just a few words to describe Jason and his Dream Team of Clean. How often do you find that kind of ethic nowadays? He is not only incredibly grateful for his business and his customers, but he proves it in his attitude, service, and the exceptional way which he takes care of your vehicle. After all… that is why you came here in the first place; everything else is just icing on the cake.
BONUS:
Ask about renting one of his BMWs while the Team at Fresh Start Detail pamper your car. They are practically free. Who else does that?
