Honey Toast Cafe

It used to be good but not anymore. I used to like their fried tofu but it doesn’t taste the same now. it was crispier and tastier back then with their home made sauce. They charged $ 5 back then, which is fine since their tofu is good. Now, I feel like it’s just a plain fried Tofu (like Thanh son tofu from NE 82^nd) with soy sauce. and it’s pricey because you have to pay $ 6 for a couple pieces of tofu when it’s just a regular fried tofu. Even the chicken is different, it wasn’t as tasty as the first time I tried. Kinda disappointing, and I don’t think I want to go back.

Deluxe honey toast never fails me. Soft bread that isn’t overly sweet, fruity ice cream and really good macaroons. It’s huge though so bring a friend or two :)

For those who have frequented Honey Toast the last couple years, say farewell. The Honey Toast we knew is gone, sold to the owners of Mo Cha (aka honeyless brick toast).
The staff has been switched over, which might have been a perk if they had kept it full service. However, it’s self service now (like Mo Cha). I wouldn’t mind the self service so much if the girls working there would have made a little more effort. They take your order at the register, call out the food (not your name or receipt number), and go back to chatting with each other. They never walk out behind the counter, even when there are only 3 tables. Also having the dirty dish drop right next to clean utensils is a bit gross.
The girls behind the counter told me all about the changes to the food. Currently they will keep the same menu items. They say they haven’t changed the recipes, but if you knew the old Honey Toast, you’ll notice they have changed. *See the chicken wings, they look exactly like Mo Cha’s. They also now put the honey on before toasting, vs after, hence not as much honey. Pocky sticks have replaced the chocolate cookie rolls, macaroons aren’t the same. The upside is the are using Mo Cha’s ice cream, Cascade Glacier, which is a superior ice cream to what the old Honey Toast used. Eventually, they will change the entire menu to Mo Cha’s menu.
Overall, the food is alright, but it’s definitely no longer the same or better than than the what we know as the Honey Toast brand. While I never got the best service in the dozens and dozens of times I frequented the old Honey Toast, the service now is non-​existent.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR $$$! It’s been a while since I’ve been back because of my work and travel schedule. The product is not the same. The bread was honey roasted stale bread. It was not the light and fluffy honey roasted sweet bread we had on previous visits. I went back to use a $ 50 gift card I received as a gift. The staff politely told us the card was no longer valid because of new ownership. I was not amused. It’s very convenient for a new owner to not have to absorb the financial liability of a previous owner especially when the branding and name stayed the same. Even if I could use the gift card I wouldn’t go back. The product wasn’t as good and the tables were sticky and filthy. Oh and let’s not forget about the food debris on the wall.
Go to SE Portland or out of state if you want decent honey toast.

mention this place as a spot have authentic Taiwan food. POOR taste! I ordered pork chop with rice and fried tofu. Pork chop was over fried and the tofu too. This place is not for real Taiwanese people looking for Taiwanese dishes.

Neat little place here — LOVE the honey toast, as there are several options to choose from. Price isn’t bad — ranging anywhere from $ 7 to roughly $ 13 per person, depending on what menu item chosen. Kinda sketchy sometimes though — got a receipt from them that has the name and address of a random restaurant located in California. Weird. Also, the utensils don’t look properly cleaned — I had to take them to the bathroom and rinse them with soap myself. Overall, its a great place, just has some room for improvement.
NOTE: They have switched their operation to «Self Serve», meaning that customers are not allowed to sit at a table until they have ordered off the menu. They then pick up their food from the counter, and buss their tables once done. It works, but not ideal for the small shop with people all over the place.

I’ve been here about three or four times and I always leave a little disappointed. I was so excited to try this place out cause of all the pictures I saw of the honey toast, but the first time I tried it, I wasn’t that amazed. I got the big size and between four people it was way to big and all the ice cream ended up melting and it became a soggy mess do we couldn’t finish it. I got the petite size to share with one other person and it was way too small. There isn’t a in between size. The people who work there are super nice but the service is incredibly slow. They don’t even give all of your parties food at once. They will bring one persons food and then a few minutes another. And so on so you don’t get to eat together. The parking is horrible. In their lot they have three regular spots and one handicap spot. They are starting this new thing with self servicing and it is absolute CHAOS. You have all these costumes waiting at the door to order and then sit
Down and costumes busing their own table and getting their own food so there are just people running into each other and its so crowded for such a small space! This was a horrible idea and I hope they decide to go back to their old ways. They are very very disorganized, they don’t make their food in order so they are calling out random orders not on time. They skipped us and went at least ten orders after ours and then back down to orders that were before ours before they got to us. It was irritating. I wouldn’t recommend. This pace DOES NOT deserve 3 & ½ stars!

Only a 5 minute drive from my house or a 10 minute walk after school. I love this place when I’m craving for honey toast :)

Cute café and tasty desserts. Service has become extremely unprepared and disorganized.
I was excited to enjoy honey toast and dinner with friends to celebrate my birthday. We had enjoyed our first time visiting Honey Toast Café a year ago, so I decided to check it out a second time. We visited on a Friday night, and my experience this time was disappointing.
Service: First, they ran out of pork chops and calamari on the menu, so chicken was the only meat option we could order for dinner. Second, when the rice dishes came out, the waitress forgot to bring us napkins and silverware, so she asked «would you like silverware?» Hmm. We replied yes please. So we had to sit while our food got cold so she could run back to the kitchen. A few minutes later, she returns and informs us they only have one metal fork and only chopsticks and metal spoons. So we used what they gave us. Then, when the honey toast came out, I had to ask if the waitress if she could please bring us forks. She again brings out the honey toast, sets it on the table, and then goes to look forks while we watched the ice cream melt before our eyes with no silverware. A minute later she comes out with metal butter knives and asks if this is okay since that is the only clean silverware they have besides plastic forks… So I asked her to please bring the plastic forks. We finally got our forks to finish our meal. Finally, the waitress asked if it was someone’s birthday, so we told her yes it was my birthday celebration. She said ok, then I will get candles for the dessert. So she disappeared for a few minutes, only to return and apologize they don’t have candles after all. By then, we already had decided to just start eating the melting dessert before it became a puddle. I do give the waitress props for her effort.
Food:
Deluxe honey toast — Originally what I came to order. Topped with ice cream, fruit and macaroons. The bread was a bit too hard and not as soft as I would have liked.
Salt & pepper chicken plate — This dish was not bad. The chicken was cooked well with good favor. Came with rice, egg and pickled veggies.
Teriyaki chicken plate — The chicken was good with teriyaki and also came with rice, egg and pickled veggies.
Salt & Pepper chicken wings — Similar flavor to salt & pepper chicken plate. Decent wings.
Truffle oil fries — I thought we ordered truffle fries, but what we got tasted like Oreida frozen crinkle cut fries zapped in the toaster. I am not sure if they added any truffle flavor, because we did not taste any.
Bubble teas — our table ordered coconut taro blended ice tea with boba and warm taro milk tea with boba. Both drinks were super sweet and had undercooked boba that were too hard and chewy. We did not finish either drinks.
The atmosphere is casual, décor is cute with the seating and lighting. Parking is ample in the lot or street.
Overall, a super cute concept. It is such a shame of how poor the service has become and their lack of preparedness and organization. I am rooting for them, and really hope they pull themselves together soon.

Always get the deluxe honey toast, sweet potato fries. The baby octopus is pretty pricey but its so gooood ughhh
I really like their milk tea too, they made it from scratch, not from powdery stuff, taste great!!! Especially the green tea milk tea. Best milk tea i have had it Portland!

It’s a cute place in Beaverton. The honey toast desserts are beautifully displayed with varieties of fruits, macarons, and lots of other toppings. The honey toast itself is ok and is mainly carbs, which is not for me, I just like all the toppings! :) It’s a nice place to catch up with a friend. The salt pepper chicken was yummy! They have a variety of lunch entrees, so there’s lots of food to choose from depending on your mood. Try their happy hour sometime!

Unique but not sure why people make such a big deal. Buy yourself some bread for French toast, butter it up and toast it… plop some ice cream, chocolate sauce and anything else and *bam* you got yourself honey toast.
Not impressed. limited parking. Servers seem to get overwhelmed and therefore are a bit short and hurried.

I hit the gym for two hours straight to justify my indulgence here. When I arrive at 1 pm if was relatively empty, and interior was spacious with tables by the windows topped with modern metallic lighting decoration.
I reviewed the menu and I knew I wanted something fruity and sweet. Customer service was friendly and prompt. It didn’t take long for gorgeous deluxe honey toast to arrive and my gaze was fixed on the sugary carbohydrate…
I had to get the «perfect angle» as toast cooled off and ice cream started to melt. Toast already had pre-​cut incision which made cutting with butter knife easy, though each cube was rather large. All flavored of sour raspberry combined with chocolate and caramel with resistance of soft bouncy bread was amazing good. It also helped I skipped breakfast and burned 1000 calories prior to eating lol
It was just the right portion and bread to topping ratio was superb. I enjoyed every morsel and contemplating on the green tea and red bean for next months treat. My bodies over saturated right now. Feeling sleepy, perhaps it’s time for a nap :)
Just kidding, I’ve Zumba at 3:30 pm scheduled to burn off the rest so I can come back sooner!

Simply love this café. Great atmosphere, great service, and most importantly great food!
Haven’t tried any food other than their Honey Toast Desserts, but it is well worth it every single time I come.
The first time I went, I ordered the «Chocolate Symphony» Honey Toast Dessert. It was a bit too chocolatey for me, but still tasted great.
This time around, I ordered «Ice Queen». This consists of three ice cream flavors of your choice, two wafers, with chocolate and caramel syrup around the toast.
I’ve had honey toast desserts at other cafes, but no other beats Honey Toast Café.
Chairs and tables are always clean, along with their bathrooms.
Music they play is always on point, I love it! This will always be the café I will look forward to going to when I’m in town.

Cute, cozy and clean little place! While driving to the restaurant we got a little lost the GPS took me pasr the restaurant. The parking lot is a little small but it works. This place does not serve breakfast which I thought was odd.
It’s pretty much honey toast, a different version of chicken teriyaki or sandwiches. I had the chocolate banana honey toast which was soo good. My cousin had the strawberry carmel. The toast comes in either large or petite.
The restrooms were clean and the service was decent. I would definitely come back of I’m ever in Beaverton again :)

Well the name of the café is a lot nicer than actually going inside. I was meeting a friend there for dinner (ish). She kept texting me that no has come by her table in 30 min. I found this to be a common complaint among these reviews. FIX IT, Honey Toast!
This is just an all around weird place. It’s a werid asian place that makes no sense. The name, the fact that they consider themselves a «café» but a server comes & takes your order. It’s not comfy inside. The moment I arrived I told my friend, let’s find a coffee shop asap. We ordered anyway.
She got a petite honey toast & she did not like it. I took 2 bites & honestly id give it 3.5 stars. It wasn’t so bad… compared to what I got. I got the Taiwanese shaved ice. I thought it was going to be like the amazing delicious shaved ice like they have in California! But NNNOOOOO. It was literally finely crushed ice cubes with taro & mochi pieces AND the worst part, they ladled WHOLE red beans in top. Red bean is delicious… when prepared correctly. It’s looked sooo unappetizing. But I ate it & gave it a try. The thing started melting & got nasty & soupy. Be wary of this dish! And café! Not much to choose in Beaverton. Everything there is 3 stars & under. So I guess this is one of their best ones.

Probably should of gotten the regular to get both a scoop of Red Bean Ice Cream and Green Tea Ice Cream in the full-​size Toast. Even with the petite and only Green Tea Ice Cream, this was pretty tasty thanks to plenty of Red Beans, purple mini Mochi, and Condensed Milk. We learned afterwords, we also could of added the 2^nd scoop of Ice Cream to the petite for just $ 2 more.

The café is small and vibe a little sterile, but I sure miss this kind of dessert since moving to the PNW, so, chalk up these cute desserts as another reason to visit Beaverton.

Mmmmmm … honey toast.

Came here for a quick bite when I was visiting a dear friend of mine in Oregon last December. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken appetizer and I got an order of the red and green honey toast.
The service was fairly quick and there were a number of other parties when we were there. We got seated quickly and while the waiter wasn’t particularly attentive, he got us our orders in a timely manner.
The salt and pepper chicken was a bit disappointing. I was expecting the chicken to be crispier, but instead it felt a bit too greasy and the breading a bit soggy. The chicken itself was good though, and the seasoning was not bad.
The presentation of the honey toast was quite amazing. The red and green honey toast came with red bean, condense milk, orange/​green mochi, and your choice of either a scoop of green tea or red bean ice cream. I was a bit aggressive and got a scoop of both the red bean and green tea ice cream. These dessert dishes should definitely be shared! I had trouble finishing off my order by myself – I probably shouldn’t have even tried such a feat!
The entire dish was very sweet, almost a bit too sweet. I don’t know what I was expecting though, what I described could be nothing but sweet, really… The toast itself was pretty good, with a crunchy crust and soft middle. I wouldn’t pay $ 15 for this again, though. The serving size is pretty large and if you share it with another person it’d only be around $ 7.50/person, but that still is on the pricier end (made me feel like I was back in Manhattan!).
To my knowledge, we don’t have any places dedicated to honey toast in Manhattan, and the Taiwanese in me was excited to try out a Taiwanese café on the West coast. I think the dessert is worth a try for the experience, but the food here is pretty mediocre.

Wow. What a change!!! IN THE WRONG DIRECTION!
Service was so slow and inattentive. Not because they were helping others, but because they were chatting with one another. Cool. The thirst was real. I had no utensils for my rice meal as well… what? Then when they took it away and brought out the honey toast, again no utensils. The ice cream was so melted by the time we got utensils – how do you not notice we have nothing to eat with? That is in the top 3 of a server’s job!
The food was soooooo below the quality of the food I had here previous visits. The salad with the paninis is no longer a spring green mix but a regular iceberg mix. I ordered a provolone panini and got mozzarella. Tried the truffle fries and only 2 of the fries had a hint of truffle. The pork chop tasted like it had been washed with soap… and not well because you could taste the soap.
The honey toast was okay but could not redeem the bad service and bad food. I’m really sad because I used to love this place! Hope it changes for the better soon, it’ll be awhile before I give it another go.

My first time visited Portland Oregon. My friend suggested this place to me. It was my first meal in Portland. I must say that I really Love this little place! Their honey toast deluxe is amazing!!! Probably one of my most favorite desserts!
We also ordered their braised pork rice bowl, pork chop rice bowl, and fried tofu!!! They all taste great!
