Hook Me Up Solutions

Had a TV/​soundbar installed above a fireplace. Total scope of work was $ 1200 for hardware and labor.
Pros: Communicative on timing and appointment; technical knowledge seemed high; conscientious of in-​house cleanup; very courteous.
Cons: Appointment snafu bumped my initial window by a week; hardware trash and styrofoam was left in my garage. This might sound nit picky but even Home Depot hauls away the boxes after an install.

I am a very infrequent Unilocaler, but I feel compelled to share a bit about Hook Me Up Solutions. Matt and Wyatt did the most amazing job I ever could have asked for and I couldn’t be more excited about the final results. Not only did they design and install the home theater of my dreams, but they did beautiful mounting jobs on two other TVs throughout my home. They were flawless in terms of punctuality, cleanliness, and professionalism. Matt worked with me to work up an initial estimate and for every component he gave me three options (various prices and quality levels) so I had the flexibility to work around my budget. As stated by some of the other reviewers, Matt is wonderful either suggesting and procuring components for you (very competitively priced) or working with what you may already have. He and Wyatt made the whole process worry-​free and exciting. And his final tutorial made a fairly complex set-​up very user friendly (I opted for a universal remote package, which he custom programmed perfectly). First I want to say my experience with having things done in my home have not gone very well. But this one did beyond my expectation, you always expect a least one thing to go wrong. Not one thing, everything went smoothly! I needed to have some security equipment installed and had called and met with about three companies. I had called Hook Me Up Solutions and spoken to Matt, I was on a time line and he had a very business schedule, I had not met with Matt yet and was checking out everyone’s that I had met and also Hook Me Solutions with State of Oregon Contractors Board background checks and a few reference calls, also here at Unilocal.I had this feeling my heart that I needed to meet with Matt, so made an appointment he came over AM site check and evaluation went over everything, proposal was sent to me later that evening and the price was way beyond what I wanted to pay for what needed to accomplished. I was very open with Matt, very easy person to talk to, so he worked with me on things that could be changed etc. and met my budget. Worked it out so that the timing was right he had a few days open before another business schedule for them. The job was to take three days and was done in 2 days, very clean, smooth, did everything that I had asked for, for my needs while in my home. He made sure that the training he gave me on the system that I felt comfortable to operate it. Vacuumed and cleaned up the first day before leaving and the second day the same the only thing that I would say that I was disappointed me was that they didn’t swept and mop the floors and dust as my house would have been cleaned for the weekend. lol! Clean up was impeccable. The job could have not gone any better. Matt listens and the customer is number 1 all the way around. I can’t THANK YOU enough Matt and Wyatt too. (his employee on my job).

Matt– Did an excellent job of working with a smaller space. Mounted speakers, hid wires, and installed two TV’s for a very reasonable price. Very professional and very meticulous. This is the company if you are looking to have anything installed. Thanks Matt!

Matt is very knowledgeable on all aspects of TV installation. He consulted me on how I wanted things to look. He did a very through job. I was concerned about how my 50 inch TV would look in my tiny apartment but it looks great. I would use him again if I need any future work done.

Contacted Matt with Hook Me Up Solutions after seeing a glowing review from my one of my neighbors. Matt provided a loose estimate over the phone for what I could expect for the mounting of two flat panel televisions. Matt and his assistant arrived promptly (after sending an ETA vis text message) and quickly set to work. Matt kept me informed of things that could be done in addition to mounting the television (hiding wires, installing wired internet to the televisions, etc) and appraised me of what the cost would be prior to any work. Matt showed me an outline of where the televisions would be and after our approval, went to work. The entire installation went «no muss no fuss». Matt cleaned up all debris and the televisions looked great.
Once our furniture went in, we quickly found that our main television resembled the front row of a movie theater and was not very comfortable to watch. We also found that the main television had no hard-​wire internet connection (Comcast came after the television mounting). I contacted Matt again and he came by the next day. Matt informed me that he could lower the television but I would need to pay for a different mount (power supply and junction box in the way). No problem as this was not a fix of something that Matt had done wrong, merely a preference on our part. Matt diagnosed our hard wire internet problem and fixed it while at the same time making all of our telephone lines «hot» allowing the placement of the telephone anywhere in the house. Television was at a much better placement for the room after lowering.
Matt then only demanded the $ 45 dollars for the mount. I was blown away. I gave Matt more than he demanded as I wanted to compensate for his time and effort. Great guy and great local company. Will use again and recommend highly.

I’m usually a do it yourself guy, but I bought a 80″ TV for a luxury home, and didn’t trust myself to mount it above the fireplace without either having a mess of wires, or a torn up terraced wall from fishing the wires through. I called Hook Me Up Solutions, and Matt came out to install the TV.
The best explanation I can give regarding Matt is he is high precision. He gave me the cleanest install I ever could have asked for. He first asks a lot of questions to make sure we are on the same page, then he measures and outlines the area with painters tape to make sure I’m okay with the area. He ended up hanging this monster perfectly, and put cover plates in the entry/​exit points for cabling. He concealed the wires so well, you can’t tell anything was done. His clean up was great, and he moved the TV box to storage for me.
I also asked to pay for an hour of consultation regarding an existing in-​ceiling speaker system running throughout my house, and he spent a good 2.5 hours testing all my speaker continuity, and having the attic walked to check the layout. He didn’t charge me for that extra time.
In trying to help me determine the best method of hooking up a great surround sound system, he offers products at a rate that is usually better priced than Amazon, and doesn’t mind if you go buy products elsewhere. He will help tell you how to set this up yourself, or give you a plan for him to do it. I’d use Hook Me Up Solutions again without looking at a competitor.

I made an offer to buy a house in a rural area and after researching on my own, satellite internet and TV were my only options for coverage. I had to do an inspection of many items of the property and assumed that there would be some way to get satellite coverage out there. I called Matt and he explained that some properties cannot get even satellite coverage, and these people have very few options. I ultimately retracted my offer and I cannot thank Matt enough for his great advice. He has a lot of experience and knows many people in the business.

Can all these 5 star reviews be true? Well, yes they are. Matt is dedicated and customer satisfaction is his number one goal. I had an issue and he was there and ready to go.

Matt was fantastic. All it took was a quick call on Friday and he was at my place ready to go the following Monday. I had tried to start the project myself with purchases from Amazon and a lot of YouTube Instructional Video searching but in the end I was completely over my head. Thankfully, Matt did not laugh at my feeble attempt (It took over 400′ of wire where I had bought only 100′ for example…). The install went great and I got a lot of great advice from Matt on how to properly take care of our equipment. He worked fast and everything looked great afterwards. In the end we have a great looking home theater now for an installation at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to future proof their home theater with a professional installation.

It takes a fair bit to impress me, but these guys did it. First of all, I emailed at 9pm to schedule a date for an estimate, and Matt (the owner) got back to me in about 15 mins! This may not happen all the time, but it does mark the responsiveness of HMUS.
Second, I wondered whether a Hillsboro-​based company would be responsive in NE Portland, but Matt was very easy to schedule for an estimate, and he arrived promptly and communicated well. Most important was that I had all the equipment that I needed — he didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t want or need, or to run down the equipment I had, suggesting better. I even asked whether I should add more speakers, and he gave me his opinion that for my room size, they were not needed.
Matt got back to me with a fixed-​price for fishing wiring for rear speakers and a subwoofer through our 1905-​era home, which I thought was brave, and an hourly rate for cleaning up some other speaker wiring in my home, which was fair.
Matt and his assistant arrived at the appointed time and worked all day on the installation, which when billed was probably the best home-​improvement dollar I’ve ever spent. The quality of their work was high, and they cleaned up after and were all-​around pleasant guys.
I chose HMUS because of their good reviews here, and they did not disappoint me. I would gladly recommend them to anyone for this kind of home theatre wiring. Given their demeanor and professionalism, I think they would do a good job at any other task they bid on as well.

Matt mounted my tv and helped me decide on a provider. Beautiful work — and on time! I would definitely call him again for any a/​v problems. And he helped me out with my computer printer!

Holy smokes… Matt arrived on time and spent four hours making some amazing changes in our home. Fantastic ideas, he offered great options if you don’t know exactly what you’re after, and nothing was «a problem.» In fact, everything was completely possible and able to be done. He was kind, courteous, cleaned up every single bit of dirt after himself, and was very very patient has he took the time to set up our new universal remote for us and explain every feature and how to use it. Absolutely, definitely, without a doubt… will use his services again. This type of reliability and service is next to nonexistent any longer.

Matt installed all of our house hold electronics. He even cleaned up the mess. He was very knowledgeable and polite. I was having an issue with my yamaha receiver. I did not know the configuration of running multiple HDMI cables through my receiver into my TV. The white cable wire price seemed slightly high but I can’t complain because the labor was part of it – and if you want a job done right the first time then it is worth the money.
