Kennedy Plumbing

We’ve always had really great service with Kennedy Plumbing and our usual go-​to guy, Clay. So far we’ve had 3 rooms renovated where they’ve come out to replace all the old galvanized pipe and install new shower/​laundry plumbing.
It’s sad to see some other poor reviews, but our experience has always been solid with Clay.

Great company. I asked them to come and finish up what another contractor couldn’t do. Finished in an hour. Great Service. Will call them again.

Called to ask plumbing advice and avoided having a plumber come out.
I find it Interesting how the people with negative reviews only review a few places and are negative there too. Sad their worlds are full of negativity.

Plumber came to do a repair on a job. Broke the existing piping and I had to pay for the material and time for the plumber’s mistake that he brought on himself. Upon job completion insulation was not put back that was removed to access the waterline. Would not recommend Kennedy Plumbing and would recommend going elsewhere. Being a tradesman myself this is very poor customer service and poor craftsmanship.

The last 4 reviews they’ve received of 1 star tells the story. In our case, they called and canceled our appointment 15 minutes before they were supposed to show up. They said they don’t have any other plumbers to send out. I asked to speak to the owner and was told «he’s retired». They were completely indignant and don’t deserve your business.

After reading the other reports about Kennedy Plumbing, I will definitely agree with one which notes poor customer service from Joel.
I had a plumber come out last week. At that point, I was told how much it would cost per hour ($ 126). I was not informed that they begin the clock when the plumber’s previous destination. Therefore, prices will vary and depend upon the location of the plumber’s previous job.
The plumber did a fine job. When he arrived, he said, «I will not spend more than 10 minutes and I will not see you anything that you do not need.» He arrived at 11am and left at 11:30. I was charged for an entire hour’s worth of work, $ 10 for glue, and $ 16 for a part.
I called the office this morning to question the fact that I was charged $ 10 for misc items and the entire hour when it was just one half hour of work. Joel was defensive from the beginning of the conversation. He informed me that there is a minimum charge of one hour (and paying for the driver’s time) and I was charged for misc supplies such as glue. Keep in mind that all this plumber had to do was replace a valve — so could not have used more than a nickel size worth of glue.
If you read Angie’s List reviews on Kennedy Plumbing you will note that Joel informs clients that they have «upfront pricing» When I asked Joel why I was not informed about this he said that he has had clients for 10 years that do not ask, therefore I am not entitled to upfront pricing unless I ask for it first. He also stated that this is how they have been doing business for 40 years and so it must be right. I believe that all we need to do is look in our history books to remind us that policies and procedures which have been in place for 40 or more years do not necessarily make them right or ethical.
As I proceed to ask another question, Joel interrupted me before I could get through half a sentence. When I told him that it was no use to continue the conversation because I was not given the chance to speak he replied: «Well, you are just going to write a bad review of us anyways, so go right ahead.»
I suggest that Joel visit his mother and have her teach him some manners. Not only was he impertinent, but his arguments lacked reason and substance.

It’s really sad to watch a great business go into a downward tailspin, but Kennedy Plumbing is well on its way down! I had been a good customer for more than 10 years and relied on them for numerous jobs. The last two times were a disaster!
We had a plumber come out to install a new kitchen faucet and to repair a leak in a deep sink. After the plumber left, I adjusted the flow to the deep sink and discovered that there was a new leak under the same sink. I had to call for a return. It took a bit of «discussion» to get somebody back without waiting until the next week. They said they would send a different plumber, but the same one showed up the next day. He said he fixed the leak, but after a few weeks, it was leaking again, so I shut off the water to the sink. This all happened in November. I have decided to use a different plumber now, and am waiting to set up an appointment.
This was the second recent instance of plumbing issues. The first issue was in July 2015. We had the same company come out to remove and replace our kitchen faucet the FIRST time. When finished, the plumber turned on the water from outside and later that day we found that we all over a sudden had several clogged water lines. It took another major «discussion» to get a return, but they finally agreed and replaced some clogged lines. Unfortunately, this faucet only lasted 4 months! We bought a higher quality replacement faucet and had Kennedy come out in November to replace the defective one.

They came out yesterday to repair a leak at my main water valve. The plumber who arrived told me that it would take 3+ hours and require drywall repair to replace the valve, and that it just needed to be tightened. I was certain that he was wrong (and later learned for sure that he was), but I was in no position to argue with him given that my garage was slowly filling with water.
After he left, I discovered that it is now impossible to turn the valve at all. Since the water is OFF, I’m stuck with the water off until someone comes back to do the repair properly. In addition, he introduced a small leak in the plumbing pipes adjacent to the valve, so my garage is again filling with water.
I called their office at 5:59 p.m. and discovered that they had closed early. I was pleased to hear that they have an emergency number. However, when I called that number (3x), it was disconnected.
The next day, I received a call back from Joel, their service manager. He offered to send someone out first thing this morning. I asked if he could send a different plumber, since I didn’t have confidence in the first guy. Joel replied that no other plumber was available for at least 24 hours, and that if I wanted immediate service, it would have to be with the same guy who came yesterday. When I told him that sending someone out today was the most critical thing (since we have no water now), he apparently believed that I was insisting upon a different plumber immediately (even though I wasn’t)
He then demanded that I make up my mind and choose either the same plumber today or a different plumber tomorrow. Without waiting for me to explain that I already decided upon the same plumber today, he told me to call back when I had decided, and then he hung-​up. I called him back immediately and again asked him to send someone out immediately. He hung up on me again.
I called him back again to ask him to send someone out right away, and he informed me that he would never be sending someone out to repair the damage that Kennedy did yesterday, that he was refunding my money. He then hung-​up on me yet again.
When I called again, and asked him why he was unwilling to repair the problems he caused, he called me a liar. When I asked him why he kept hanging-​up on me, he said that he had never done so and that there must be something wrong with my phone. He then hung-​up on me yet again. I called him one final time to let him know that I would have to hold him accountable for the cost to repair my water system. He told me to never call him again, and hung-​up on me yet again.
So, thanks to these incompetent people, I have no working water in my home at all, a wet garage, and they refuse to send someone out to repair.
Obviously, I would not use them again.
Update: I found a different plumber with good ratings via Unilocal.He came out and was able to replace the defective valve in about an hour without cutting into any drywall. He also repaired the leak that Kennedy’s plumber caused.

They were OK, got the job done.

My kitchen sink just quit working on a Saturday night… no amount of plunging, drano or hot water could get it to budge. I called Kennedy Plumbing on Sunday and they were great. They got here within two hours and were quick, clean, professional and pleasant. It was my second time using them and I can’t imagine using anyone else.

I had them come out to fix my jammed up garbage disposal. They got it unjammed in no time at all. Guess this is a lesson learned about what not to put down a garbage disposal.

Seriously great service! They were at my house in less than an hour after I had phoned and had us all fixed up in less than an hour! They were friendly and perfect! Fair pricing too. Very happy customer here.
