A great Vietnamese place if you are craving Vietnamese food. I love their avocado shake, I. My favorite thing to order here is #42 lemongrass pork and shrimp over rice. Yum!

I love this place! It has the best Che Van dessert. I really like the yellow curry, an employee suggested it to me after my heart broke from hearing they no longer carried the crêpe. Please bring it back. Regardless of the crêpe, it’s a great place with excellent food and service.

If you have never been to Portland, Oregon or any coastal cities in the Pacific Northwest, January can be crazy cold. You can also see your breath coming out of your mouth as you breathe. As I just witnessed, that is no lie. I finally had an opportunity to explore the Beaverton District, which is five miles southwest of Downtown Portland and yes, «still cold». Beaverton has many good shops and plazas. But the best way to warm you up in January is a warm bowl of phở from this restaurant inside the Beaverton Town Square plaza. Inside, the restaurant is nicer and spacious than many of the restaurants I have dined back home. Indeed with the cold weather, I was craving for a large bowl of Beef Noodle soup for $ 9.00. Though it is a bit pricier than back home, the key ingredients were fresh and the warm broth was flavorful. These people know how make a good bowl of phở. I also added a cup of Iced VN coffee for $ 3.50. The iced coffee was good enough to rejuvenate my long morning. The bowl of soup and the service was just as good as back home. Indeed that was how I feel.

Bad service, waiter/waitress keep avoiding eye contacts since I stepped food in this restaurant. Food is ok. Took me 5 mins to track down the waitress for a bill(she was walking around all the the time, just would not respond to me) Immediately took out a credit card for payment when she brought the bill, but waitress would not take, insisting on making me wait another 5 mins. Why? Why not just take the card with the bill back? Never can understand the attitude coming from the wait persons working in Asian family restaurant in Portland. It is a family business but can u be a little bit professional about it?

…so they ran out of noodles, and literally had to send an employee across the street to fred meyer to get more. This was after we had ordered, and we were subject to waiting 40 minutes for a bowl of phở. They didnt inform us of this until 20 mins in to our wait.

You’ll never have to twist my arm to get me to go to Phở Van, I’m ready now! Having grown up in the California Silicon Valley, Vietnamese food was second nature and we had a lot of exceptional places to choose from. Phở Van is exceptional imho. The phở is the best I’ve ever had — the secret is the broth you know — and someone in the kitchen does it well. The vermicelli dishes are equally as good and I sometimes have a hard time deciding between the two. The chicken wings are superb and I could easily make a meal of those and a bowl of rice or noodles. Service is wonderful and we’ve never had to wait long for a table. But be aware, lunch time is hectic and parking is difficult… but don’t let that keep you away. The prices are reasonable and fair for what you get. Try it, you’ll like it!

I continue to be disappointed. There is no sense of urgency or acknowledgement. I came in to order food to go and was told by a waitress that the other waitress at the counter could take my to go order. When I went to place my order she continued to write out a note and dos not acknowledge me. Then she walked away to tape the note somewhere in the back. Another lady had to take my order but could not get my change because she did not have a till. The service was lousy when trying to dine in and it’s just as lousy when trying to take the food home where you can provide better service for yourself. The staff really needs to be trained better.

Décor is nice, parking is plentiful and the acoustic guitar pandora station was right out of one of my own. The menu contains a good selection of common American Vietnamese fair. The execution was unfortunately not up to par with the image. The dishes were not very clean, and there was one commonality to the food. Greasy and salty. The flavors were just odd. We had salad rolls, bun, phở and lemongrass chicken and the odd, greasy, saltiness applied to every dish. The phở broth was not great. It was missing star anise and overly greasy and salty. The cuts of meat were not bad but overall the chef needs to lighten up the salt and oil on every thing. Wait staff didn’t refill drinks and weren’t super friendly. 2 stars.

I hear the location in the city is better, so I will give that a try, the service was not good and the food was just alright. We had to ask for plates three times and the server wasn’t not happy to accommodate my request for a refill on my water. :(

As a Vietnamese person — we are the type of folks that if something isn’t broke, there really isn’t a good reason to fix it. The same mindset comes with food, once you find a good spot, we will eat it til the wheels fall off. Phở Van is my go to Vietnamese spot for Portland. I was first introduced to this place by my aunt, years back. Since then, few and far between do I not go to this place when I visit. They have grown over the years and the appeal of the menu and atmosphere has improved over time. There really isn’t anything«outstanding» per say with their dishes, but they have a well rounded menu of the popular staples of Viet foods. Com Tam(broken rice), Mi Quang(tumeric noodles), Phở(beef noodle soup), Bun Bo Hue(spicy beef noodle), Bun Dac Biet(special combo vermicelli noodles), and Nem Nuong Cuon(grilled pork — roll it yourself spring rolls). They have been consistent with quality and service over the years. What does set them apart is the Che(dessert). It’s a multi-bean/tapioca/jello dessert that’s served in a cup of sweet coconut milk and it’s simply delicious. It’s a Viet rendition of a Thai Tea dessert. Overall a great place to visit if you’re in the Beaverton area — might not be worth the trek to downtown Portland visitors but it’s good enough for the 20 minute drive for me!

Food is good however it is absolutely the worst when it comes to service. Long wait for seating or takeout. Lots of servers but no one doing anything. Horrible!

Let me break this down for you, Mofos: I’d PREFER to give this place 3.5 stars, but cannot as Unilocal doesn’t allow me that kind of flexibility.(Note to self: write a letter to Unilocal asking them for my money back.) The food here was really solid but the service was… «meh». And by «meh», I mean they brought us the wrong appetizer. When your wife has a shellfish allergy and you discuss that — out loud — with your server, I think I have a reasonable expectation that they won’t then turn around and place a dish with shrimp as a topping. So, ok: if you make a mistake, just correct it. They did: they served us the correct appetizer… after our main course came. Oh well. Where the service faltered, the food excelled. We had the Phở Bo, the first item on the menu with all the special beef trimmings. Delish. We also had the shredded pork and pork cutlet pork dish with pork pork and some pickled cabbage. Also pork. The Bia 33 beers were also quite cold and refreshing. Great on a summer night like tonight. So lookit: if you ain’t in a rush, want some good Vietnamese food and you don’t mind the occasional mistake, this is your place. Everyone was super nice and the ambiance is really great: they have tables for larger parties and more intimate booths for couples and dates and whatever else you teenagers like to do. Oh yeh: totally want to get one of the yoghurt desserts next time. They look awesome!

This place was just ok. Nothing fancy. The portion sizes are reasonable. The prices are a little high for thr quality of food. A small bowl of phở os arouns $ 8.45. Service was fine. I didn’t get my water glass refilled nor did they check in on me after I received my food. To me it’s a fast food restraunt trying yo be fancy. Service isn’t the same like your standard restraunt. They just had you a menu and come back to tame your order. The food tasted good though so If I am ever in the area and am craving phở, I may stop by.

Unfortunately, I need to revise my review. We went there tonight and had horrible service. We had to wait over ten minutes for anyone to visit our table or bring us a high chair for our toddler. We ran out of water and had to wait about fifteen minutes for refills. Had to wait over ten minutes after finishing eating to get our bill and then wait another fifteen minutes after they took our card. I still don’t know who our server was, since we had to get up and ask random people to help us when we needed things. Awful!

I have always meant to eat here — they are ridiculously close to my house. After trying the location on 82nd with a friend… I had to come here and introduce my husband to it. We are both now huge fans Salad rolls — PHENOMENAL. I get the rice combo… a plate of nom for $ 10.95…soooo good.

Although we were seated quickly, the service was terribly slow and the server was unpleasant. The hostess was even worse. The soup was received very hot but not as spicy as it said on the menu. The meat had more fat than meat.

Pretty good phở and a lot cleaner than my other phở spot. Maybe a few less options of meats to include but plenty enough for me. They mention on their web site that«We use the best ingredients and natural meats and produce, locally grown when possible.» That’s pretty cool and very rare for a Vietnamese place to do, it’s a nice touch. They had some other interesting menu items too so if I branch out I’ll update this but for now I can say they were very nice, it was clean, and the phở was great!

Remember that day where everyone thought it was going to snow six inches and the only thing we got as rain but it was still incredibly cold? That’s the day I drove by Phở Van and decided I needed hot soup because it was just too darn chily outside. I was planning on phở but then I saw the egg noodle soup and went for that. It was pretty good. The broth was hot and delicious. The only thing was the noodles… they tasted a litle off… as if they had been sitting on a shelf too long. Ben had a vermicelli bowl, which was pretty good too. They had a cute little menu of homemade yogurt desserts that would be nice to try sometime. The service was friendly and attentive. If I wanted some hot soup and was driving by again I would be sure to stop back in.
