If you have a VW, good luck. I was carless without my poor 2002 Jetta for more than a month with countless numbers of instances where wrong parts were ordered which caused the transmission repair process to take even longer. I had to come back a few months later with another part needing to be replaced because of the same lingering transmission problems it had before.
I could have been a rare, unlucky case but I would strongly encourage VW owners to look elsewhere if having transmission problems.

When my SUV wouldn’t shift out of first gear, I knew I was in for some trouble. I immediately took it to AAMCO and was met with pushy sales tactics and big numbers and left with little information and a scared look on my face. I immediately drove down the road to Reliable and met with Jim who was great. He took the time to test drive my car, tell me what he thought was wrong, and gave me the hard numbers without beating around the bush. He even made me feel comfortable when I uncomfortably got upset about the numbers! And even though the prices were about the same as what AAMCO told me, the guys at Reliable took the time to explain the trouble to me so I didn’t just feel like I was being ripped off.
Ultimately, a family member rebuilt my transmission in exchange for a lifelong supply of gratitude and favors as well as some cold hard cash, but I would highly recommend the guys at Reliable based upon my initial consultations with them. They’re fair and honest and I would have felt confident having them repair my transmission.
