We made a special trip to Smith & Bevill because they are an authorized Omega dealer. We had a wonderful experience. The family ownership makes this a place you want to spend your money. Angela was spectacular and knowledgable. We will never forget our great experience and purchase. Thank you for making our day!

I had a ring from my mother that was not my style or look… I had been to soooo many places trying to figure out a cost effective option to repurpose my ring. I could not find a jeweler to listen to what I wanted or who would work in my budget. At some places I was treated two badly I was ready to give up. I came across this establishment by accident. I walked in expecting the same experience (high pressure sales, etc) it was totally opposite … Not only did they hear my concerns they had exactly what I wanted in the vintage department ! The «sisters» that work in this family run establishment instantly had in mind the perfect ring, not only was it perfect … It fit! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience !

I had my grandmother’s ring that I wanted to use for an engagement ring. I had some work done here prior to the proposal. They were very caring and listened to my needs. They were clear and consistent with expectations and did a great job of explaining why and how they were doing what they were doing. My only issue would be male wedding band selection. Kinda old school. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs jewelry work done.

During our wedding ceremony I couldn’t get my husbands wedding band on his finger. We thought maybe it was water retention. He kept complaining about how tight it was and we were leaving the next day. We called Smith and Bevill and they were closed so we called Fred Meyer Jewelers and they told us they could size his ring and have it back to us before we left in the morning. We brought in his ring and the jeweler placed it on the ring sizer and it was a half size smaller than what I ordered! Then, to add insult to injury she told me it wasn’t a comfort fit band that I paid extra for! My husband paid the 75.00 to have it correctly sized and I called Smith and Bevill before our flight and explained to the gentleman what had happened and we were very upset. He didn’t offer any help and told us to call Tawny (the lady who sold me the ring) when she was back at work. I told him we were leaving on our honeymoon! He said he had our receipt so I was hoping someone would have called us from Smith and Bevill with an apology and a resolution. Very disappointed!

I recently moved back to Portland from Hawaii. My engagement ring & wedding ring are both Hearts on Fire diamond rings. I found Smith & Bevill online as a Hearts on Fire diamond retailer. I wanted my rings checked for prong damage & cleaned. Both Gina Bevill & Tayne Hendrickson were extremely friendly & knowledgeable. They went above & beyond helping me with my rings which both needed maintenance. They also advised me on the purchase of my new beautiful Hearts on Fire diamond earrings. They are both well versed in all things diamond. Smith & Bevill will now be my go to jeweler. Thank you again Gina & Tayne!

We entered this store recently as the first of many planned stops in a long search for a new wedding ring for my wife. Much to our surprise, we walked out an hour later having ordered a new custom ring. We were very happy with the experience — friendly knowledgeable service from Gina and zero pressure. We felt comfortable enough to leave final decisions on some design details in Gina’s hands. Most important, my wife is very happy with the new ring.

Found them when I looked for a certified Omega dealer to overhaul a vintage Constellation. Discovered I could afford a new Seamaster and should really reserve the heirloom for special occasions.
Expert knowledge, great advice and thorough explanations. Mr. Bevill, Angela and everyone I encountered were a pleasure to deal with. I recommend them without reservation.

Extremely disappointed in the workmanship given on a wedding ring that belonged to my late mother. I finally had the strength to wear her ring a while after she passed away, but I needed it resized smaller. I asked what I thought were «the local professionals» in the industry. They said it would not be a problem, and while we were at it, we shined it up and «checked it out to make sure it was tuned up». I received it back and within 2 weeks, a chunk of the ring fell off… Never in 40+ years did anything ever come off but whatever. I take it back, and show them. After lengthy discussions with Mr. Bevill, it boiled down to him blaming our ring, saying: «the gold gets old and begins to crumble». Also blamed the previous maker of the ring itself. You would think when they had it and was tuning it up, resizing and refinishing they would have noticed a few of the aspects they blamed the ring for. To be nice, he went ahead and fixed it. Took forever and when we finally got it back he reminded me of how many hours they worked for free, and with a disclosure that they would not be reponsible if anything went wrong. I walk out feeling like Ive been given some sort of freebie when in reality all I wanted was my ring to fit and I DID pay them. My mom wore this ring for more than 40 years every day and it never crumbled, and for them to conclude that «the gold was old» is really strange. Ive never heard of 18K white gold getting «old» but Im not a jeweler either. So off I go with the ring for the second time and one week later… a chunk came off again. Luckily I noticed it and for the past 2 years it’s been in the box, unworn because I don’t know who to trust. They already told me in advance not to bring it back. Mr. Bevils words were: «it could last 3 weeks or 30 years» with the message that we were on our own if/​when it happened.
Needless to say, this was a very disappointing experience and my advice is if you choose to work with these people, stick to their new stuff and avoid repair type things. Their team is not skilled to work with antique jewelry.

So, my fiancé and I went to Smith and Bevill to look for his future wedding band because we figured that since it was a locally owned, family business, that we’d get superior service than if we went to any commercial jewelers.
Nope. Not even close. We were looked down on and ignored almost as soon as we walked in. The woman who asked if we had been helped yet looked rather disappointed when we answered that no, we hadn’t, as if she was upset that man, she had to deal with us. When she was showing us the bands, she never invited us to sit down, and kept implying that perhaps their rings may be outside of our price range. When we asked questions, she would roll her eyes and answer curtly and rudely. We were barely in the store for 15 minutes before deciding that we could probably do without Smith and Bevill’s condescension.
Look, Smith and Bevill: I know we looked young, but the facts are that we are in fact, well-​educated, nice people who were looking to buy. Your arrogant attitudes and patronizing tones made us feel inferior, hurt, and completely determined to spread the word about how you managed to ruin what should have been a great experience for us, so that other young couples don’t leave feeling your store the way we did. Nobody deserves that sort of service.

Get a second opinion on jewelry repair. I took in several pieces of jewelry to be repaired. It cost me about $ 130 each for restringing of bead necklaces, and $ 90 for earrings joints to be rewelded. The restringing isn’t so bad-that’s an expensive fix, but the earring fee was ridiculous. When I got an estimate on repairing a watch I brought in at the same time, it was very expensive. Feeling burned by the earrings, I called around. By going to another small artisan watchmaker, I am saving more than a hundred dollars on the repair.

I love supporting local and family-​owned businesses whenever possible. This is a great jewelry store located in SW Portland on Beaverton-​Hillsdale highway. Angela Bevill assisted me and was extremely knowledgeable. No sales pressure here. 5 stars!

Whoa. When I called this place, I only had one question in mind:
Do you carry vintage watches?
Imagine my surprise when the woman that I spoke with actually put Mr. Bevill on the phone to help me out in my watch search!
Yes, they sell automatic watches, but am I sure that’s what I want? Now, will this be my primary watch, or will I only wearing it for special occasions? Because vintage watches are like ’66 Mustangs. They’re pretty on the outside, but I’m not going to want to drive that baby to work everyday.
I not only found out about their awesome selection, but also got a free crash course in vintage/​automatic watches.

I love this place. Need a watch battery replaced? Jewelry repaired or updated? Want to buy a special piece, this is the place. They have simple inexpensive pieces. They have custom pieces. You can go to the mall jewelers and hope you are getting your money’s worth or you can go to Smith and Bevill and know you are getting what they say. Friendly, helpful staff will spend time with you, and won’t make you feel guilty for not making a purchase. But you’ll be back!!!
