Customer for life! Dr. Dave helped my family out when we were in a pinch. Long story short: My wife was told she needed excessive dental work and I asked Dr. Spangler for a second opinion. On short notice (next day) he came in early to take xrays and re-​evaluate. It was decided, given his decades of experience, that the prescribed treatment was over aggressive and unnecessary. We’ve since switched over to this office and couldn’t be happier. Spangler and Co. aren’t out to make a quick buck, they’re there to provide the right care. Great hygienists, nice office, and friendly staff.

I was very pleased with my experience. I recently moved to the area and had grown up with a dentist that was also a family friend in a family practice. When searching for a new dentist in the area, I wanted to find something with that same feel — I found it there. The staff was SO nice, explained everything that they were doing, and were very time efficient. I will for SURE be going back there from now on.

I never thought I’d like going to the dentist but this place makes it so easy to maintain great oral health! My tech Heather is awesome and Dr. Spangler genuinely cares. He also told me I have no cavities this time around which makes me like this place even more.
Seriously though, my husband who is deathly afraid of dentists comes here because Dr. Spangler puts him completely at ease.

I had a very similar experience to Sara B. Got a quote over the phone for a root canal and crown at 1800 and they told me they could get me in the next day, kind of late in the day. I asked if they were sure that would allow time for the procedure and they said it would. Then I sat there for over half an hour before the Dr even saw me, with the tech assuring me the whole time that they would still do the root canal that day. When I finally saw the dr he said there was no way, that I’d have to come back 3 more times, missing more work. Then when the office girl brought me my quote, it was over 2800! I now think they probably would have gone on raising the price like they did to Sara. I called several other dentists and they all said a couple items they were charging me for were ridiculous. So yeah, unless you have more time and money than sense, avoid this place!

Both Dr Spangler’s are amazing and the staff is great. I have been a patient there for 7 years now. I needed a crown done and my insurance said I had 50% coverage. When I got the crown done my insurance refused to pay. Dr. Spanglers staff worked get the insurance to pay the claim. 6 months later the insurance finally paid. Not many offices would care that much to fight on my behalf Dr. Spangler could have just had me pay in full and not bother with the insurance, as another dental office i will not mention did. I’m so glad I found them. I refer co-​workers and friends all the time.

First off, I have to say that Dr. Dave Spangler is fantastic, his team of dental professionals are fantastic, and his son (the other Dr. Spangler) is also fantastic. So why only one star? Because of a woman who handles the financial aspect of the company.
A little over a month ago, I had a horrible toothache. Turns out I needed a root canal and a crown. Fine; I went to my local Gentle Dental and was given a written estimate of the entire procedure needed which totaled about $ 1000 after my insurance coverage. Great. I called Spangler Family Dental because, for some reason, I thought a family practice might be better professionally.
I got the root canal done and had a temporary cap put on in two separate visits at Spangler Family Dental. Like I said, the dentist was fantastic, I felt comfortable and taken care of. Then we got to the bill. I was told that the estimate, after insurance, would be $ 1200. A little more expensive for a little better service; fine.
My next visit I was told that the woman who handles the insurance claims had misestimated because she assumed I had more dental coverage. (Yeah, they can get that info right away if they called the insurance company. Guess she skipped that part.) Now my bill was $ 150 more than previously anticipated.
But wait, it gets better.
Because I was a new patient, she took a copy of my debit card and we set up a super high payment plan. I asked for less a month to be taken out, but she said SHE couldn’t trust ME (in a more professional way). A bit insulted, sure, but I figured they’d been screwed by other patients and I made the appropriate arrangements to have the astronomical amount taken from my account every month til paid. Fine.
At this point, a less trusting (and in this case, maybe less naïve) person would have asked for a copy of said agreement and copies of all bills sent to thier insurance. I failed to do that. I trusted that I’d get copies in the mail, thinking still that this office was a professional establishment and therefore was run in a way that most offices of it’s kind are.
I just called to make an appointment to have my permanent cap put on and was told that the price had risen another $ 500. WHAT? She gave me a line of excuses, some of which were used before (she didn’t know how much my insurance covered, she didn’t know I’d need a cap even though Dr. Dave said I would from the very start, etc.) and claimed that I’d mis understood her when we talked in the past. Right. So that root canal and cap now costs $ 1800 instead of the $ 1200 I was originally quoted.
I’m currently looking for a new dentist, not because of the dental work or cleanliness of the office but because this woman either doesn’t know how to do her job, is a liar, or a combination of the two.
As good as the dentist is, I wouldn’t go here unless you’re made of money and don’t care at all about what you’ll be charged. You should also know your complete dental coverage and all possible loopholes, because this woman is incapable of finding that information out for you.
