Teplick Custom Vision

So, I went for my consult. The actual surgeon was not there. And they said I could come in for another appointment to meet him. However, they charge a third more than most in the area. And they claim it’s because of the «state of the art» laser. However, I have a friend that sells said laser. And there are other places in the area that have the same laser. Now, I know this guy has been doing this a long time. Which is why I wants HIM to do my surgery. When I told them how much I could afford, they said they would get back to me. It’s been over a week. No counter offer or anything. Even though she told me how much they could lower the price. I actually would have paid that. But this is poor customer service. So ya. If you want an expensive surgeon who claims they are the only one with state of the art equipment, by all means. But if you are someone who is searching for quality and good price, look elsewhere. And… I’m a nurse. Wasn’t too impressed.
So. After this review I did receive a very apologetic phone call. I know that things can slip through the cracks. Dr Teplik is my first choice for surgeon because of his reputation. So I have accepting this apology and scheduled my surgery for next month. I’m glad to hear that people still stick by their «product». And are not too proud to admit when they have dropped the ball. I am very excited about this surgery and will post another review with the rest of my experience. I have increased the stars to 3, hoping to return with a 4 or 5!

This is a difficult review for me. For a couple of reasons: 1) I have never done it before and will never do it again so how do you rate something with no comparison? And 2) I am not sure I have should have done it.
Losing my ability to read without glasses is the trade off I took for being able to have eyes of the eagle. To be perfectly fair, he told me I would lose my reading vision but I don’t think he could have impressed on me how much that meant beforehand. When he said it I was like, oh big deal, I will just use reading glasses for books, but it goes way beyond that. My medium range vision for using navigation on my iPhone or using my phone in general or reading computer screens is weird now. I often have to put readers on while driving which is dangerous. Not to see the road, but to see my navigation. Or if i go into a restaurant and look at a menu. There’s all these little things about reading all sorts of things you don’t realize until you are constantly pulling out your reading glasses.
I guess the tradeoff is worth it. I mean it is nice to do a lot of things people who never wore glasses take for granted like play basketball without worrying about your glasses flying off, or waking up and being able to see, or go in a hot tub pr sauna or pool and being able to see.
But the reading thing makes me wonder if I should have went back to contacts. Still I think of those chemicals and eye irritation from that and just the dependency of contacts and I guess I am better off. Except I am dependent on readers now.
As far as the procedure the hardest part for me was my light sensitivity. They do the procedure with a big hospital series of bright lights above your eye and you can’t blink. They tape over your eye with some kind of scotch tape and it helps. There is some pressure, no pain, and it’s over pretty quick. It’s actually weird how fast the procedure is. And how fast it works. Even walking out into the parking lot with my visor on my vision was very good. And I went driving that night 6 hours or maybe 8 hours later (against doctor’s orders but…). It was amazing that first night how clear the street signs were. It’s probably worth it for that alone.
The doctor and the staff is great. The doctor’s bit is a little canned but he probably has to do it for legal reasons and he’s probably done it 10,000 times so what do you expect? So suffer through it.
It’s a nice office and not very busy which is nice. A little strange, but nice.
One other thing on reading. I am in my 40s and probably would have lost it within 10 years or so anyway so maybe in the end it wouldn’t have made much difference.
The only other thing about readers is he told me to just go to the store and get whatever felt comfortable. Having never used reading glasses before they were all more or less the same but different. I mean you could read using any of them, it just depended where you held the book (or phone) and personal preference. So I got some 2.5s. Then I went back in for a checkup and the staff told me to get some .5s or 1s or something low powered. 2.5 were for elderly people. So I am like okay, but I asked twice beforehand and nobody said anything. That peeved me off a little.

This was an amazing experience. I’m not a particularly challenging patient, my eyesight was well within parameters (I think he said they do LASIK up to 14 diopters and I was like 2 or 3, I think?) I had astigmatism, but not bad, and my corneal thickness was excellent. So, while there are always risks to surgery, both surgeons I interviewed seemed to think I was an excellent candidate to be very happy. I interviewed TLC Laser Vision Clinic, and Dr. Teplick, and both were professional, very clean spaces with excellent staff. I mainly went with Dr. Teplick because I actually got to meet with the surgeon, which was not the case at TLC. I’m SURE they would have been fine, they both have the top technologies, level of experience, and had a similar assessment of my chances of success, so I went with my gut and with the fact that Dr. Teplick very patiently answered all my questions, and even brought up a couple of issues I hadn’t thought to ask. I also, REALLY Like the was I was treated by the staff. Everyone was friendly, and professional, and were able to answer all my questions immediately.
The day of the surgery. Just an amazing relaxing experience. They redo all your tests to double check, do a final question and answer session, you sign the consent form, then they give you a Xanax and take you to a «relaxation room», which has a television and a very nice couch to lay out on I turned the TV off and laid on the couch and promptly fell asleep. They woke me and led me into the operating room, and went through the procedure. It was quick, and surprisingly calm. He told me every step before he did it, and told me how it would feel, and what it would look like. I was uncomfortable, but no painful, and I didn’t find it hard to stay still when I needed to. At the very end he uses what look like squeegees to push the flap over again, and if I hadn’t had the Xanax, I would have laughed. It looked like I was in a car wash, getting the final polish. :)
They helped me to sit up, put the shields on me, and I was good to go. I slept most of the day, was up for a few hours in the evening, then took the Xanax they send you home with, and slept the full night starting at 8PM. The next morning I removed the shields, and I had great vision! There was some uncomfortable scratchy feeling, and I wore sunglasses to my follow up that morning, because I had light sensitivity. But they tested me at between ²⁰⁄₂₀ and ²⁰⁄₁₅!
The surgery was Thursday and this is Saturday. The light sensitivity and scratchiness is mostly gone, but I get eye strain really quickly. That has gotten better day by day. I’m following the drops schedule strictly, and that helps a lot. I suspect this is going to change my life, just like it has many people before me.
I recommend Dr. Teplick if you’re looking into LASIK. he and his staff are just amazing.

I came here to get laser eye surgery done and it was life changing! The staff was super nice and the procedure was easy and quick. And now I have ²⁰⁄₁₅ vision. Pretty amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to do any eye corrective procedures.

Definitely the place to get your eyes corrected for life! Worth every penny. Dr. Teplick is a true professional as well as the staff. I never had to second guess the surgery or price and I’m glad I didn’t because it’s life changing what they have done for me. No discomfort. No problems. Perfect vision.

I had an Epi-​Lasek (PRK) procedure here two weeks ago. I only felt a little discomfort in the first week. I was freaking out that I had an eye infection because it left like there was a pebble in my eye for about 2 days and my eye looked awfully bloodshot. I used some ibuprofen and prednisolone acetate and it went away. I haven’t had that issue since. The only other issue I’ve had is that it feels like there’s some pressure on the back of my eyes, the only way I can describe it is that it feels like someone has their hand on my head and is pressing their thumb on the back of my eye very lightly. Some ibuprofen takes care of it pretty quickly.
The procedure takes no more than 5 minutes and they give you drops and pills so you can knock out for about 2 days. I’m on week 2 and I’ve definitely noticed a fluctuation in my eye sight. I had a high amount astigmatism in both eyes. I tried to go to King Lasek, but they said I had too much astigmatism. I found Dr. Teplick and his crew that uses the newest technology in the Laser Eye Surgery Realm, the Wavefront Tech, and I’m glad I chose them. He said I was a perfect candidate for regular Lasek, but I with Muay Thai and Jiu-​jitsu in the picture, the safer bet was to do Epi-​Lasek. Plus I didn’t want to deal with a possibility of flap issues even though the chance is so tiny, it’s still there.
If you do go the Epi-​Lasek route, you will want someone taking care of you for the first week, almost even 2 weeks. Grab an audio book or something and just veg it out I went through a little bit of depression and cabin fever thinking I made a huge mistake and ruined myself because my job depends on my sight to program! Just be patient. Your sight will fluctuate as your eyes are healing. I can’t wait till I’m done healing!
It’s definitely a struggle at work and home as 99.5% of my time is spent on a computer, either playing video games, or working as a Software Engineer. My work is lenient enough that this transition is okay. I’m just working on 800×600 resolutions right now lol! I can’t wait until my vision settles! I will post an update in the future when my sight stabilizes :)

I can’t say enough about this place and my procedure! It went great and flawless resulting in ²⁰⁄₁₅ vision and no complications after one month!
Dr. Teplick and all the staff are professional and ensure that the surgery is a safe and realistic option for you. The overall experience is one that you cannot get elsewhere. UPDATE: Six months post op: while I love being able to see more clearly when driving, I pretty much hate everything else. The ‘new toy’ feeling wore off about two months in. Have to use readers for almost everything. Kid you not… If it’s closer than 2 feet away, I need readers.
Example: On vaca I could swim in the ocean without contacts now but could no longer clearly see the fish in the water or the shells and rocks in the sand. It’s a give and take and I feel like I «gave» a lot more than I «took». :-(
If you’re 40+ and considering the procedure, spend a day or two paying close attention to everything that you do that is 2 feet or less from your eyes. You will likely need readers for all of it.

INITIAL POST: I had my LASIK done 4 days ago, so this is an initial review.
Gotta say, the staff was professional. Dr. Teplick has his ‘schpeel’ down pat but not in a way that makes you feel rushed or pressured. Aside from the ‘losing your nearsightedness’ thing, they did a decent job explaining the procedure and what the after effects would be. You’re given the option of following up with them or your regular eye doctor. Dr. Teplick says he has done the majority of the eye professionals who have chosen to have the procedure.
They told me I’d feel some pressure. I surely felt that… and some mild pain. It was more uncomfortable than I thought it would be but it was a short procedure. There was pain and discomfort following when the numbing drops wore off. You definitely want to take a nap when you get home as it helps you relax and helps the pain subside more quickly. I took two Advil and the Xanax they gave me, slept for a few hours, and woke up pain free.
Something to really consider before having LASIK: If you’re 40+ and are nearsighted, be forewarned that you may not like some of the changes. I’ve been nearsighted my entire life. My distance has gotten bad post 40. So I decided to put a stop to that and have LASIK. Teplick’s office did tell me that I would need readers but it’s not just about readers. You will LOSE the nearsightedness you’re used to. It’s not just needing readers for work or to read a recipe. It’s so much more — can’t see the sliver I got in my hand, eyebrows to pluck, and I basically need a selfie stick to read my cell phone. Seriously… I’m NOT loving this part of it… AT ALL.
UPDATE: Two weeks post-​op.
Very happy with the results and getting used to the readers. I went to my regular doctor for my 1 week post-​op appt and he was blown away. He was VERY impressed with the neatness and «perfect flaps» that Dr. Teplick had created. He also couldn’t believe just how great of a change it made in my vision.

I also recently had LASIK surgery performed by Dr. Teplick and his fine staff. Also, like the latest reviewer, I too am at ²⁰⁄₁₅ now. I can’t say how fantastic it is not to have to wear corrective lenses of any form. A friend asked how my new vision is compared to my corrected vision using contacts. The best way to describe it is like going from 720i to 1080p hi-​def. My new vision is way beyond what I had hoped for…
I would highly recommend Dr. Teplick, he has the experience, best equipment, and a great staff, all offering the best chance of a successful outcome.

Dr. Teplick and his entire team are so wonderful. I was referred to them by my brother who spoke so highly of his experience it was a no brainer for me. His referral was dead on and I have no problem in referring them to all of you. The entire experience from consultation to follow up was done with expertise and delicate care. Although this procedure is so quick and painless, they still treat you so well without rushing or pressure. I felt very comfortable the whole time and it is no wonder he has performed so many! Thanks to Dr. Teplick and his team, it feels amazing to wake up every morning and see!

I am thrilled with my new vision. My eyesight in both eyes were about –9, so Dr Teplick recommended Epi-​LASIK (PRK) since my corneas were too thin for normal LASIK. My optometrist, who has been doing the followup appointments, said that she’s never seen anyone have such good vision and heal so quickly after PRK! She credits it to Dr Teplick’s fast new laser and also some special drops that he put in after the procedure. After visiting Dr Teplick for the consult, I felt very comfortable about his skill and experience (he was one of the pioneers of LASIK and on the FDA approval board!), and am very glad that I chose him for my vision correction.
The only thing that I wasn’t happy about was that I received my prescriptions Friday before the surgery, through the mail. I ended up spending all Saturday waiting for them to be filled (since they needed to start on Sunday, three days before my procedure), and actually had to go to two pharmacies, since one was out of stock for one of the drops. When I mentioned to Jackie that they should send out the prescriptions earlier or electronically, she got defensive and said that she can’t control the postal system. I think sending them out a week earlier would have alleviated a great deal of stress in filling these prescriptions at the last minute. But hopefully they listened to my feedback, and I would otherwise really recommend Dr Teplick!
Also, I should mention that I think their website is so cheesy and terrible. Their printed materials are very professional and it would do them a great deal of good to have the website reflect the classiness of the brochure.

I am almost at the one-​month mark from my Lasik surgery, so I figured this would be a good time to review Teplick Custom Vision. This review pretty much mirrors others’ experiences with Dr. Teplick and his staff, who were fantastic from start to finish and front desk to surgical suite.
I had been inquiring about Lasik with my DO for the last 5 years. She wasn’t ready to get it personally, so I thought I would wait as well. This year is a big milestone for me, and I finally decided to bite the bullet, save up my FSA $, and go for it.
Dr. Teplick is highly regarded as a leader in the field. If he is good enough for the likes of the Blazers, Timbers, Thorns and other local personalities, then I am in good hands. With the only Intralase laser in the state of Oregon, Teplick Vision uses a laser to make the corneal flap vs. a microkeratome (read: knife in your eye) which helped allay my fears.
The results have been nothing short of life changing. Having worn glasses since 2^nd grade and contacts since 10^th, it has been amazing to wake up and see immediately. At my first DO post-​operative checkup, my vision was ²⁰⁄₁₅ (it used to be 20/400…yes, you read that correctly!)
I can’t thank Teplick enough.

It’s been about 8 months since my surgery and I can’t be happier. Dr. Teplick is amazing. I now have ²⁰⁄₁₅ vision (slightly better than perfect), results that came almost immediately after the surgery was complete. I have been wanting Lasik for 7+ years but am such a baby, I would schedule consultations and then get too scared to even go to them! Once I found Dr. Teplick and saw how highly recommended he was, I was not afraid to go in for a consultation. After seeing how well run his office is, the amount of money he invests in state of the art technology and meeting him personally, my fears were almost gone. On the day of the surgery, it was so quick and painless that I was shocked. My eyes had a slight stinging feeling about an hour later, after the numbing drops wore off, but by then I had taken a painkiller and was off to my nap, as Dr. Teplick advised. By the time I woke up, no pain.
As Dr. Teplick predicted, every now and again my vision would blur slightly as my eyes healed and I saw some halos at night. It happened only very occasionally and is now completely gone.
If you are considering Lasik, go with Dr. Teplick. I’m even telling my out of state family members to use him! Thank you Dr. Teplick!

The best decision I’ve made yet. I love the office staff and Doctors. Very kind. They are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and I was not going to jeopardize my eye sight to save a couple of bucks. I did tons of research and determined that they were the best (my opinion). I would highly recommend!

I had LASIK done 3 days ago. From the initial consultation all the way to the first post op check up, every member of the staff has been amazing. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly, almost made the process fun :).They did a thorough checkup to ensure I was a good candidate. There was another checkup on the day of the surgery. After the Valium kicked in, the rest of it went very fast. I was taken to the surgery room, given soft toys to hold and blanket to keep me warm. The only part that was uncomfortable was when they put the suction in. It took less than 10 minutes and I was taken out for a last check then my husband drove me home. I took the pain med and went to sleep for a couple hours. When I got up, I could already see better but I decided to put the eye drops in and keep my eyes closed for a little longer. Next day at my post op checkup my vision was ²⁰⁄₁₅! That’s amazing considering I had ²⁰⁄₁₅₀ in one eye and almost ²⁰⁄₈₀₀ in another. I still have to keep putting drops in and am told the vision might fluctuate. I am extremely pleased with my results. My only regret is I waited so long.

I had my surgery yesterday and back at work today. Dr Teplick and his team were amazing.
Fast, no pain, slept a few hours after suregery and then I was good to go. I had my eyes checked this morning and I was at ²⁰⁄₁₅!!!
Highly recommend, as he was recommended by my eye Dr and cant say enough good things… thanks Teplick Team…

I had my lasik surgery 2 days ago and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself! I have been in contacts/​glasses for 17 years and have NEVER been able to see as well as I can today. I am so happy and excited about the results! Dr. Teplick and his entire staff are professional, caring, and excellent.
The procedure itself was just as expected, the staff and Dr. Teplick explained everything and prepared me for what was going to happen. Additionally, I had my 4 month old daughter with me and the entire staff was more than accommodating, letting my mother-​in-​law walk her around the office and giving me time to tend to her as needed without making me feel uncomfortable.
I was given great post-​op instructions and expectations. Again, it went just as expected. The first few hours afters surgery were a bit uncomfortable, however I went home and took a nap as directed, and by 5pm, four hours later, I was up and able to see clearly with minimal discomfort.
My husband is going next week and I am so excited for him to have the same exceptional results and experience that I did.

I got the Groupon for LASIK and it was a great deal. The staff were all friendly and Dr Teplick is as well. The procedure wasn’t the most fun thing ever but it’s not as scary (I was thinking Clockwork Orange contraptions) as I anticipated and is over quickly. They say you can work the next day but if you can, take off. My vision the second day wasn’t great for more than 10 ft away and it just was a little dizzying/​difficult to go about my day as normal.
My vision took about 2 months to get to ²⁰⁄₂₀.
I’m so psyched not to be near blind and to not have to deal with contacts and glasses!

I had such an amazing experience at Teplick. The staff is extremely friendly and truly care for their patients. I was nervous (as expected) for the surgery, but they managed to calm me down and made me feel so comfortable.
The surgery was quick, painless, and nothing to be scared of. They really do everything they can to make you feel at ease. Dr. Teplick is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. He explains the all risks involved, but doesn’t leave you with any feelings of uneasiness.
Before the surgery they gave me a couple Valium. I was skeptical that it would work to calm my raging nerves, but it worked wonders! My boyfriend and I were taken into a private room with a TV and a couch to relax before the surgery. They then took me into a room and had me lie down. They covered me with a warm blanket and gave me a couple stuffed animals to hold onto. This may sound corny, but it was just what I needed. I loved it, it gave my hands something to do and made me feel like everything was going to be just fine.
The surgery was colorful and kind of cool! The only thing you feel is a little bit of light pressure and it’s over before you know it. The nurse rubs your shoulder the entire time to give you the comfort of human contact, it was so nice. After the surgery, I ate some food, took a Vicodin and napped for a several hours. When I woke up my vision was nearly clear! It was as if I had my contacts in. Truly amazing! It is now the day after my surgery and I am back at work with little discomfort! Dr. Teplick and his staff did an incredible job, I highly recommend them to anyone looking to get LASIK. I couldn’t have imagined a better experience.

Yeah, I’m starting this review out with a joke. Only because the rest of the review isn’t going to be THAT funny (well, depends on what you find humorous).
I should start by saying I had bad vision. I mean, really bad vision. If I held my own hand in front of my face I wouldn’t be able to see how many fingers I had up. I could write an entire novel of «funny» situations I’ve found myself in after losing my contacts/​glasses. One such story involves taking the dog for a walk around the neighborhood, losing my contacts, and completely relying on the dog to find our way home. Yeah, it took us awhile since the mutt wanted to stop at every bush along the way.
Anyway, when I finally began looking into Lasik, I was (understandably) nervous. I scoured the internet for a good 4 months before learning about Dr. Teplick. After meeting with him for the initial consultation, I knew he was the guy for me. He’s performed over 35,000 procedures, and was confident he could help me with my situation — (more detail: I can’t wear contacts in the spring/​summer due to allergies and had to wear special glasses that gave me migraines).
First of all: He is AMAZING. His office staff is INCREDIBLE. I worked in healthcare for a very long time, and can honestly tell you: there are (sadly) some doctors/​healthcare workers who get into healthcare for the money, for the prestige, etc…
But Dr. T, Dr. Pinske and the rest of the staff are so obviously there for all the right reasons: because they care about people, the quality of their work, and about the overall happiness/​health of their patients.
Okay, so one funny part of the story: my friends and family have been asking about my experience at Teplick Vision, and I’ve been trying to persuade them all to have it done themselves, responding, «It’s awesome! Such a pleasant experience! It’s delightful! «(not exactly how most people describe surgical procedures).
The morning after having lasik I woke up to perfect vision (yes, my eyesight is better than ²⁰⁄₂₀ now). I almost cried. Except I didn’t because my eyes are still healing (and I’ve got plenty of artificial tears to squirt in there for effect) :-).
So trust me when I say you are in good hands with Dr. Teplick. He’s a gifted surgeon, and from your initial phone call to post-​operative appointments you will feel like a welcome friend.
