Sleep Inn Midway Airport

I was really appalled at the service here. The first night the room looked good, two double bed made up nicely. The bed I slept in – probably wasn’t slept in the night before… but had been used for a tray for some really greasy fried chicken or something. I kept waking up wondering why the bed smelled like fried chicken!!! As did my nightclothes in the morning!
The next night we came back to the hotel at seven pm and our room was not cleaned! Seriously???
Stayed for five nights and there was yet another night the room was never made up. The last day, it was made up but there were still things missing. Little things buts if you screw up so badly already, wouldn’t you harder to make a good impression? The accessories tray was not completely refilled and the things that were refilled were just thrown in the direction of the tray. Also, there were four cups for the in-​room coffee machine the first night and then there were only two cups when the room was made up — but four coffee inserts for the machine. I like a fresh cup when I brew a fresh cup of coffee. It that too much to ask? The floor lamp didn’t work. The ironing board and iron were left out and that part of the floor was not vacuumed. I was told that the staff never puts the ironing board/​iron away so that the guests don’t have to drag it out again. Noooo, I think it is so the staff doesn’t have to put it away.
I like eggs for breakfast… scrambled at free breakfasts elsewhere are just fine. Here there were hard boiled eggs that looked sad and dented like they had been made a couple of days ago and refreshed only through refrigeration. There was no water in the water/​ice pitcher at the counter the entire time we were sitting and eating breakfast.
FINALLY, the last night we called and asked for a 6:30am wake up call. AND WE NEVER got a call at all! So how many times did they forget us? WOW!

We booked a stay here when our flight was cancelled at Midway.
The shuttle is a nice feature, and one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. The hotel is clean and conveniently located wrt to Midway Airport.
There were a handful of issues with the actual room. First, the TV did not work very well. At least half the channels were fuzzy and a handful just didn’t work at all. Some of the lamps in the room didn’t work at all. The space itself was oddly laid out, and there was a wall jutting out right next to one of the beds, making it difficult to maneuver around.
Other than that, our stay was fine. The breakfast was a nice addition. The Wifi is only free for 24 hrs, but since we stayed less than that, it wasn’t an issue.

The staff at this hotel is extremely exceptional, everyone we encountered no matter what time or what we needed assistance with they were extremely friendly and super helpful. The beds are really comfy and so are the pillows! The rooms are pretty small but it wasn’t a huge issue. Decent location in a large area with other hotels close by. Overall the staff was awesome!

Have been staying here for 1 week so far and the service has been great up until today. We were never told to ask for shuttle service all week and then today the front desk informs me and my coworkers that we have to ask for the shuttle … Not sure if she knew we were there for already 1 week and we never had to ask for shuttle service.

1. The amenities list «free airport shuttle & free WiFi,» if you are traveling from O’Hare airport the shuttle is not included. The WiFi is free for exactly 24 hours!!!
2. You can hear everything outside the room, whether it’s in the halls or outside your window.
3. It is a 45 – 56 minute trip to downtown Chicago, which consist of a bus ride and the «L»… unless you rent a car.
4. Breakfast is very very minimal!
5. They have an extremely rude supervisor and its just not somewhere I would recommend anyone to stay.

This is a great hotel for the price!!!
This is not the most upscale hotel you will ever visit, obviously. But it is one of the cheapest ($ 30 – 100 cheaper than others in the same parking lot) hotels in the area, they have a great staff, it’s clean, and they have an easy shuttle service to Midway. It was also recently remodeled when we visited. The finishes we similar to hotels at a much higher price range. We’ve stayed with them twice now and it would be our first choice in the future.
We used the shuttle service to and from the airport, as well as, for picking up our rental car. The drivers were safe and arrived promptly after requesting pick up.
Bonus! They have a commentary continental breakfast (includes yogurts, fruits, made to order waffles, cereals, oatmeals, and juices) and wifi. They have an attendant during breakfast that makes the waffles, keeps all the foods filled, and keeps everything looking tidy. The mornings we were there, it was a very kind woman named Carmen. She was so helpful, she even refilled our drinks for us as we enjoyed breakfast.

Touring Chicago for three days from Houston the ladies at front desk are so sweet and helpful with everything and very accommodating there is a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport 24 hrs where the train runs to and from the downtown (cta) the room is a nice size and the stand in shower has great pressure the breakfast is great for a choice hotel eggs and bacon

I had a TERRIBLE experience here last night. Given part of the reason for the negative feelings was due to Southwest not properly confirming our last minute reservation here because of flight delays… I am going to be lenient. I called to request a shuttle as recommended upon landing. Arrived at the hotel and before even taking out our paperwork/​voucher with the confirmation number, the female employee looked at me as if we had done something horribly wrong by merely stepping foot in their hotel. She said they were completely booked and did not have reservations for us. (How did she know that reservations weren’t made if she didn’t look at the paperwork? One wonders.) No apologies, no smiles, no sympathy. I inquired about advice on what to do next and she noticed our dog and coldly added that their hotel is not pet friendly despite what Southwest told us (Fail again, SW). BTW there is a section of lawn that says «Dog Walk Area» directly in front of their hotel in the corner of their parking lot. how confusing. The clerk did not seem interested in giving us any further advice or help even when I came back inside to confirm with her if I was at the right hotel to as it had been a long day and I wanted to give everyone the benefit of the doubt in case I had misread something– but nope. No eye contact made and she repeated again she couldn’t help me.
Anyway, HORRIBLE customer service. This hotel was dark w/​a strange odor and definitely the dingiest looking on the strip of the other nice hotels (marriot, etc) as we were able to «tour» the entire hotel strip twice on the multiple shuttle rides we took that long evening to sort out the disastrous and confusing accommodations issue.
And after reading the other Unilocal reviews I am soo grateful in the end that we did not have to stay here. I am not surprised that they’ve had bed bugs issues in the past.
Advice: confirm your bookings before coming if you can and don’t expect any customer service from this place especially if you have the luck of talking to the young blonde clerk that we were stuck with yesterday night.

We stayed for 2 nights. And it was a wonderful stay. We found that the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Also the actively kept the place clean. The breakfast was fresh, decent, and tasted good.
We would not hesitate to stay here again. It’s a lovely relaxing retreat from a stay in a chaotic city.

We had a pleasant one-​night stay here in August. It was Lollapalooza weekend, so we were stuck trying to find a hotel for a single night, and only had luck all the way out by Midway. I thought it was kind of expensive for what it was, but that’s just Chicago. Very friendly staff — we got there before our room was ready, so they checked our bags for us so we could go on with our day. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was nice.
Beware, the Orange Line L stops running in the wee hours of the morning, so be sure to check the schedule before you stay out late.

My Dad and I were looking for a place nearby Midway Airport that had shuttle service to the airport and affordable long-​term parking. The Sleep Inn had a good deal on parking/​leaving the car for the weekend and their shuttle goes right over to Midway where you can take the Orange Line downtown. Perfect!
I thought Sleep Inn was at the lower-​end of hotels, but this one was just as nice as the Hyatt, Marriott and Best Western hotels I’ve stayed at this year. The room was clean, the wifi was free, the beds were extremely comfortable, the shower was hot and the nights were quiet. They have a free breakfast with all the typical stuff: fruit, waffles, yogurt, cereal, muffins, bagels, toast. Also, the manager Danielle helped us find that good parking deal and had great answers to our touristy questions since we were trying to plan a car-​less weekend. Also, as a treat we got to eavesdrop on Southwest Airlines employees on our various trips on the airport shuttle. Those folks are excited about their new 737 – 800 jets.

Terribly overpriced. $ 130/​nite plus taxes and a ripoff parking fee$ 13.00/day.
Crappy rooms, tiny bathrooms with pocket door. Crappy coffee and cheap breakfast.
Filthy carpets and mediocre service. Noisy, no newspaper. Internet excruciatingly slow. Too late to move but a Best Western (brand new) just opened 6 to 8 blocks south of this dump. No parking fees and $ 100.00/nite

Spent the night here in advance of a college tour for our son. The hotel is decent enough and conveniently located, although it’s not near any of the Interstates. Lots of airplane noise but that’s to be expected when you’re a block from the runways at Midway. Most jet noise stops after 10:00. Parking is NOT free, breakfast is meh. Wifi didn’t work on any of our ipods. If you are unlucky enough to get a room near the lobby you will want to request another room. If they don’t have one, leave (There are several hotels in the complex). It was constantly noisy all night long with people talking, using the ice machine, and generally hanging out a few feet from our door. I read somewhere that said the walls are paper thin, but they’re not really that thick. People talking in the halway sound like they’re standing next to your bed. The chatter from the staff at the front desk was constant all night long, and the all-​night-​long slams of nearby doors shook the entire room. None of us got more than 3 hours of sleep, and that’s not even a continuous 3 hours. Just when I thought it was going to be quiet for a couple of minutes the staff decided to take their smoke break right outside our window, so now we had noise in stereo. I realize that our experience was largely due to our room location, so I cannot fault the hotel entirely, but this night went down as one of our top worst hotel nights ever. Only the 3 AM pimp/​prostitute fight (including broken furniture) in the next room at a Days Inn in Cincy a few years ago tops this one.

Well I stayed here two night after visiting family in Champagne. I was satisfied until I met the night auditor… Was a rude person! All I asked her was can I check out and she was rude to me! Hmmm… not understanding why I asked again if I can check out and again RUDE! I will never stay here again and Please make sure you pass this along! Believe me I have stayed at worse locations and did not receive the kind of treatment i received from this unhappy soul!

Not a bad place to Sleep if you can do that… It seemed noisy with alot of traffic nearby. It was a $ 7.50 cab ride from Midway and they do have a Shuttle Bus (I found out later) to and from Midway. They have a contl breakfast in the morning. There is a TGi Fridays next to it. Stayed here twice this year and I did notice that their rates have went up alot. On the second stay I asked to have a room that would be more quiet and they put me in a differant part of the hotel. If you have to stay by Midway I beleive this property has the best price. The employees all seemed there to help and were able to answer question I had.

I stayed at this hotel last December and it has bedbugs.
I actually FOUND one crawling around on the floor near my bed, and squished it in a towel, and it was filled with blood. My blood apparently.
I brought it down to the clerk who refunded my money promptly. It was nice of them, but I had nightmares about bugs for like 2 weeks after this, not to mention gross itchy bites all over my neck and arms.

It is what it is – a cozy little motel 2 blocks from Midway Airport with a 24 hour shuttle to get you there. Nenette the concierge is sassy and no-​nonsense, and the rooms are nicely furnished. Also… I’m posting this review of the place right now from the FREE WIRELESS IN EVERY ROOM. Yes, you know that’s why it has five stars. Now I have to go to sleep. It’s 2 a.m., but I wanted to share that Sleep Inn is comfy, affordable, prompt, polite, efficient, and has both free wireless and FREE BREAKFAST.
Life is good, ladies and gentlemen.
