Movie Tavern Central Park

The prices are too high for what you get. And the roller chairs all say handicapped. The food was ok and the movie was good.

We do love to go to this theater because of location and frankly I like the little burgers and good popcorn. However my last movie was daddy’s hone and after asking the waiter to mention to the woman in front of us that brought her 1 ½ to 2 year old and her 6 to 7 year old to be quiet. Nothing was done throughout the entire movie lots of noise and plenty of kid activity. Not appropriate for movies. The worst lobby smell in any theater. Really really gagging smell as you enter. I think the indoor carpet is mildew and whew it smells.

I rarely watch movies but I had to go out and see The Force Awakens. I had never been to a movie tavern before, so I thought it was pretty cool. The food was decent and most of the staff was nice. I just gave it 4 stars because of one particular waiter. The rest of the staff made an effort to be quick and unseen, but this guy was walking slowly and lazily with his cellphone out and being distracting the entire movie. He took my order and just seemed very bored with his own existence. But the real kicker was when the most dramatic moment of the movie happened, he stopped and stood in the middle of the theater, in that open space area that separates the two levels of seats, and started texting on his cell phone. This giant black silhouette right in the middle of the screen at the most dramatic part! Thankfully, someone screamed at him and he moved.

I really enjoyed my experience here. I come from PA so I had never been in a dine in movie theater and really like the idea of it even though I did not order any food or drinks. I went here to see Jurassic World and was very comfortable. The theaters were small and quaint but had a cozy feeling. One thing I noticed that was not okay being small was the movie screen. It was a bit small for my taste but the volume was sufficient. In the end, the little lights in front of people was ultimately distracting, not so much so that it took away from the movie but if your particular about things, it may bother you. I gave this place 4 stars because it was comfortable, had a lot of dining options, a bar and the price is right!!! $ 5 for a matinée? YES PLEASE!

I really like going to this Movie Tavern. The food and service is always up to par. The one thing I think they should do is redo the theaters. The chairs are computer chairs in some, and some are ripped and not comfortable.

For a movie tavern, the food is great! Fresh and tasty. And real butter for the popcorn.

This place has great service. But the seats are similar to office chairs and are so flimsy. The floor is usually sticky. They are relocating so I’m sure this well all go away once they move.

My family and i went to see a movie for the first time, but was sorely disappointed. There was a father and son in front of us at the ticket window where we overheard the man ask the lady «would you eat here?» The lady said «oh no» emphatically.
Undeterred we went in and waited to be served. The staff was pleasant. We were about to enjoy our food when we saw a family of mice… MICE! Come in and out of the servers table.
We left, got a refund, and went to Elsewhere. The manager stated that they have had issues and has an exterminator out. Still not a pleasant experience for our first time.
I won’t go back until they fully renovate the place.

Seating: seats were comfortable except for the fact that the LED light rope was falling out of the top of the table and was blinding to me and my neighbors for the entire row. We had to cover the light with jackets and menus…
Service: Our waiter was very nice and friendly except that we got our drinks from another waiter AFTER he had served us our appetizer.
Food: the food was definitely on point. I had the chicken chipotle sliders and my fiancé has the burger sliders. For the appetizer we had the cups and quest and my fiancé loved it!
I will give this theater another go but they need to get their service and light fixtures squared away…

I’m not one to leave dramatic, negative reviews, as I feel all places have their up and down days, but this one just had to be given. Until this place is remodeled or upgraded, STAY AWAY. It used to be good. We’ve been to this theater several times… It’s not my favorite, as it’s one of the oldest theaters in the chain, but it’s close and convenient.
Last weekend we saw a new movie and I enjoyed their «mini-​me» slider burgers. But, less that 18 hours later I was in the ER. Food Poisoning, with a capital F!!! And that is a big deal for me, as I consider myself relatively healthy and unable to even remember the last time I got close to that sick from food. It took me 3 days (off work), and almost $ 200 out of my pocket, to get over this trip. Let’s just say I will never be setting foot in this Movie Tavern again, and it’s almost nauseating to even think about going to one of the others of this chain.
If you do go, see the movie and stick to sodas and popcorn or something.

Like any other movie theater, if you come during the «down» times (first matinée show, for example), you’ll have great service and as a bonus be able to see a movie with maybe only 4 – 5 people in the theater! Food prices are somewhat high, and the food is basically bar food (so don’t expect any gourmet stylings or exceptional entrees), probably the best things here are the appetizers. My only complaint is the few times I’ve been here, it seems the sound quality is really, really low (hard to hear). I like the reclinable chairs with wheels, the room you get and having a table/​shelf in front of you to place your bags/​pocket contents. All this and very affordable.

Pricy and not too good service. We ordered tickets online and selected the wrong time on accident. Unfortunately, there is no option online to refund your tickets even though it says you can. When we called the manager he was clueless about how refund us and told us to come up that day and he would fix them. We live 40 mins away and were unable to do that. We wish he could’ve just put some tickets on reserve for us to ensure we had a seat considering we were attending a brand new popular movie. The service for the food is slow and brought out randomly. Our drinks came 20+ mins after we got our food?! Come on! The burgers had a McDonald’s taste. Kids burgers only come with cheese and meat. I don’t know who will eat a burger like that. Additionally, what movie theater doesn’t sell candy? Nevertheless, the kids had a good time.

Terrible service. Had to wait almost 20 minutes for a simple non-​alcoholic drink, also asked for water and never got it. Nearly $ 8 for chips and a tiny cup of queso that came out way before my drink. Not worth my money, and the terrible waitress kept my change – around $ 0.75. That’s a lot more tip than she deserved. Don’t give your money to these crooks.

Movie Tavern may not be the nicest (and certainly not the newest) of the movie/​dinner options, but it is definitely on the upswing. The service, which used to be comedic, is much better than it used to be, and if you order right (stick with bar fare like the Boondock nachos, burgers, chicken sliders) the food is actually pretty good. Tickets are some of the least expensive around, and I like that a lot of the seating is rolly chairs so you can avoid the stranger danger arm-​brushing scenario.
If you are planning on eating, pay attention to what seat you’re picking. The string of lighting above the counter is out in a lot of spots, so if you’re not careful you will be dining in the dark.

This movie tavern is nice, clean and cozy :) now that all the construction is finished its a great access right of the highway. I love going to see movies here. This afternoon was awesome. It was matinée which is less than 6 bucks and there were only a few people in the theatre I went to. I felt like I had the whole place to myself.

Service is great, food is Awesome, but the place needs a upgrade. But it will be soon Since the old sack not save in Bedford will be the new movie tavern. .I can’t wait!

I have been coming here for the last 3 years and I have to say, the dinner service has been getting worse with each visit.
If you order any non-​alcoholic drink, expect no less than a 20 minute wait-​even for a cup of water. The food is just okay. Do yourself a favor and take that drive to Studio Movie grill or even a different Movie Tavern.

Movie tavern is a — ok in my book. I personally had never experienced what a movie tavern was until I came to the mid cities area. I always frequently went to the amc theater, imax, or the movie theater s in the malls.
What I really enjoy most is being able to eat while watching my movie, so come hungry :) this location is a little run down mainly because of the area that surrounds it, along with the constant construction. If you can see past all of that and come to enjoy a movie and dine then this is a good choice.
I would recommend matinée shows, you can’t beat the price!

I’ve been here dozens of times… and before the contruction it was easier to get to!
They have all the latest movies, comfy seats and food! And Beer! The ticket prices are very much in line with any other movie theater.
Huge variety of food including wings and pizza, and creative fresh options! I like the quesadillas and my friend says it’s one of the best milkshakes around!
However, I still have no idea how some of these people drink this much beer in a 2 hour movie without getting up! It’s impressive ;)
Although it could use a little renovation… the staff is usually very quick and friendly!

Ah, Movie Tavern. This particular MT is actually in a great location, but there’s so much construction going on around it that you might think otherwise. It’s getting better… slowly. Once you make it to the parking lot, you’ll be just fine.
Ticket prices are reasonable, as are the menu prices. Dinner and a movie all in one spot?! People love this concept and Movie Tavern does it well. I don’t particularly care for theaters where dinner is served — I get too distracted. People giving their orders in a low voice, waiters continually coming in and out, all kinds of food smells going on. I’d much rather go out to eat before or after a film!
If you ARE the kind of person who wants a full menu to peruse and order from while you’re watching the latest flick, Movie Tavern is your go-​to-​spot. Their menu is quite impressive, I must say. There are so many appetizers (and you can get candy and popcorn too), like bruschetta, fried pickles, fruit and cheese platters, quesadillas, and buffalo wings. Then there are a ton of sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, pitas, and wraps. How about grilled chicken skewers atop jasmine rice, Kobe beef sliders, or a cranberry pecan chicken salad? Some pretty nice stuff, a huge assortment of desserts, milkshakes, smoothies, kid’s meals, and most importantly — cocktails!
Definitely plenty of variety when it comes to food, comfy seating with a ton of leg room (I do enjoy that), and consistently good service!
