Pep Boys

The service department is a scam. I took my car in immediately when my check engine light came on. They ran a diagnostic and stated it was a quick fix. The mechanic stated he was «1000%» sure this would fix my car. $ 600 later, I left and head out for Christmas vacation. About 2.5 hours in to the trip, the same issues occurred and the check engine light came back on. Once I got home, I took the car back. Day 1 when I dropped it off they did not even driver the car. Day 2 of dropping it off they stated it was a completely different issue and wanted another $ 600-​$ 700. Do not trust this place. There are too many options in the area to risk being robbed by this establishment.

Unethical, unethical, unethical. This location has is so ridiculously unethical it’s amazing. Purchased a set of 4 tires with road hazard protection. 1,000 miles on them and one needed to be replaced. Get it replaced and they initially wanted to charge me a 50% premium on the price of the original tire. If I only paid originally $ 75 for the tire how could the new tire cost $ 121 if I’m covered on the warranty I purchased. Then they said they made a mistake and came up with $ 88. Again I asked how the new tire could cost me that much if the tires have a 100,000 mile warranty and I’ve only have 1,000 miles on them. Then they came down to $ 66, then $ 60. It was like musical chairs. Don’t go to these guys they don’t care about retaining customers. Inside there shop area they have a big sign on how much revenue they made for the day and their objective. They only care about generating revenue and overcharging customers.

great, efficient service! the technician was very honest and didn’t create a list of other things to be fixed, which is so often the case at car repair places. my resolution ended up being much simpler — and much cheaper — than I was expecting. note: be sure to allow enough time to get checked in, even if you have an appointment. dropping off my car versus waiting in line to drop off my car are two different things, & I didn’t know to build in extra time for this. just a word of caution if you’re on your way to an appointment.

Horrible customer service! If they can’t up-​sell you they won’t help you! Don’t go here!

For the store I give it four stars for their help. Came out and swapped battery for me. Wish they had more than one option on the battery. The staff in the store was great. The store said the service side would check that my alternator was working correctly real quick for me. He walked over and let them know I was coming over to get it checked after spending $ 200 on a battery. Then the service side told me twice it would be a while, like 45minutes. They then proceeded to recommend I go over to O’REILLY auto parts to get it tested. Do you know all that had to be done was to pop the hood, hook up the handheld tester, start the car and press a button. The total process maybe took 2 to 3 minutes. Guys… really…it would have taken less time than checking the tire pressure on 4 tires. I would have left with a good experience. Instead, this was the experience I had.

I don’t normally like these type of big box stores. But, I needed a tire repaired and it was Sunday. They told me about how long it would be and met that promise.
Repaired the tire and had me out of about $ 12. Not bad.
I would give them another try for something.

Single Mom who knows nothing about cars. Came in for an oil change and was told I needed two new tires. They guys took me out to my car and showed me the tread on my front tires — no good. Back tires were great — no one tried to sell me more than what I needed. They ordered my two tires, called when they came in and installed them. Chris, Jason and Barry were GREAT! Thank you for not taking advantage of a female — that is RARE when it comes to cars for me!

Brought my car in for an oil change, tune up and an alignment. They did not do the tune up, and they did not properly align my car. I got on the highway when I picked up my car, and I had to hold the steering wheel sharply to the left to get it to go straight. Two days after I brought it in, my maintenance required light came on. I took out my receipt at that point and realized that they had not done the tune up. In hindsight, they probably did me a favor considering that they screwed up my alignment… I’d be terrified to think what they could have screwed up if they did the tune up too. My car now won’t go over 60 mph without idling high and the engine knocking. Took my car back to this place, only to watch Jenae, the assistant manager, light up a cigarette in the mechanic area and bend over the engine of my car with a lit cigarette in hand. She proceeded to tell me that the reason my car was idling high and knocking was because of my tires, REALLY? She had a horrible attitude, and kept us there so long that my kids missed their easter egg hunt. I will never return here again, EVER!!!

Love hate Pep Boys. They try but seldom deliver 100%. We took our Toyota 4 Runner here to replace the front shocks, the price was good but they did not have the shocks in stock. They finished the repair an hour past the promised time. Once we left the front end started squeaking. We took it back to Pep Boys and they said it was installed properly and could not figure it out. We then took it Toyota in Grapevine and were told that when you replace the shocks you are supposed to replace this round washer like ring which Pep Boys did not do. So it ended up costing us what it would cost if we took it to Toyota to begin with. Note to self even if its cheaper its not always the best deal.

Booked car in on Internet for 9am. Arrived around 8:30am to be told that «the guy» who is doing it won’t be in till 10am. Told them I was in a rush and was told no problem you are first.
At 10:30am my car is still sat there. Asked what was going on, was told «oh I forgot, he’s not in today. But we can schedule you an appointment.»
Yeah, I tried that already… on the Internet.
Won’t be taking my car here again. Moral of the story, don’t bother using their website to schedule anything, and give yourself the whole day to be messed around.
Ended up going to Drivers Edge. They did the car straight away, wish I had gone there first.

I wish they had an option for negative stars! This place sucked Balls! I went there on Monday, at 3pm. I was told that they were too busy and I could make an appointment for the next day. So I did and when I got there the following day, they had no idea who I was. I asked if they would replace a burnt out tail light, me thinking they would only change me for the bulb (yes that was an ignorant assumption) they changed me $ 121 dollars in labor to put in a f-​cking light that took two minutes to put in. Luckily I was refunded my money. DON’T waste time and money on this crappy business. They also tried to haggle me into getting new brakes. Places SUCKS!!!

90 minutes before closing on a rainy night I pulled in with a roofing nail in my tire. They patched it for free! I’m glad it could be repaired because their tires are expensive. So glad they are open late!

This is where I have been getting most of my service performed. You do have to watch them sometimes. They were really trying to get to me on a brake job. I went to NAPA (because they actually had the high end ceramics in stock) and purchased the rear brake pads and installed them myself for around $ 65. They were going to charge me around $ 300 for the lowest cost pads. They were claiming I needed new rotors. My rotors are fine.
They also charged me for an extra quart on my oil change which made their low cost oil change cost the same as I get a Kwik Car (and I would have received name brand oil).

Pulled over here to have my tires checked due to my tire pressure sensor light coming on. I sat in the customer car line for about 15 minutes. One person shouted from inside the garage «I will be right with you.» I assume he was talking to me but I am not positive. He was so far away that I also could not even see him. Perhaps it was a recording… who knows.
Several employees glanced at me and looked away quickly before I could say «Hey can you help me?» I think they were moderately busy at the time.
Frustrated, I left and went up the road to Discount Tire and even though they were busier, they helped me immediately. I was in and out of Discount Tire in 5 minutes. It is no wonder Discount Tire was busier than Pep Boys. Pep Boys isn’t as good and its only about 200 yards away. I would not go back to this Pep Boys.

As a responsible Unilocaler, I can not sit idly by and let this Pep Boys location get by with a 5 star review.
I took my Altima here many a time for simple things: oil changes, etc. Then I brought it in to get my alternator replaced. That’s when it all started. Within three months of getting it replaced, my car resumed problems similar to what I experienced prior to getting my alternator replaced. Just to be sure I went to AutoZone for a free battery/​alternator check up and they confirmed their was a problem with the alternator. I took it back to Pep Boys to get replaced and they agreed to honor the warranty on the alternator. All I had to pay for was the labor. Everything seemed to be in order until I picked up my car. It started… but the lights were flickering and the a/​c was blowing hot air. WTH happened? Is there no quality control? Wouldn’t you confirm the car is working before you call a customer out to retrieve it? So I had to leave it there to get it corrected. I am very patient person, but at this point, my faith has quite gone.
When I picked it up the next day and paid, they said everything checked out. I didn’t trust them, so when I drove my car out of the lot, I drove it straight back to Auto Zone to check it out again — and again confirmed that my alternator was bad. They didn’t even replace the part, they just took it out and put it back in.
Maybe I’m severely unlucky. I don’t know. What I do know is that I’m driving a nice new car and I am taking it to the Infiniti dealership for service and repairs.

They have found a problem with an incorrect brake package that another Pep Boys had not done right. I appreciated their honesty and will continue going here and not the one in Fort Worth.
