Kwik Kar Bee Cave

I took my fiances car in for a basic oil change since she was a decent amount over her recommended mileage. I notified the mechanic (Alan) that was all I would need for the day. About 20 minutes later Alan asked me to come outside to give the the typical rundown of «Maintenance Issues». After a bit of back & forth I give in & agree to let them do the «Battery Terminal Cleaning» since they did have a decent amount of corrosion & I didnt feel lie doing it myself.
After around another 20 minutes Alan comes in & lets me know the work was finished & her car was out front ready to go. I paid with my card rolled down the windows & headed to get some lunch before getting to work.
Finished my lunch, got in the car & went to turn the A/​C on as the day was warming up. Thats when I noticed something had gone wrong. The entire climate control panel was not functioning at all. Being fairly sure it was a simple issue (fuse, ECM reset) I call the shop to let them know the issue & see if they may be able to advise a quick fix. A man answers the phone named Sam & tells me that it could not have been anything they did since they only preformed an oil change & terminal cleaning. I explain it could not be a coincidence as we have never had any issue with the car at all. He tells me I’ll have to bring it back…
I drive back to the shop & Sam checks the fuses under the hood & in the cabin area and calls me into the shop. He then tells me he checked all the fuses and they are good & again that it was a coincidence my whole panel stopped working after they preformed cleaning & tests on the battery. I again disagree & refuse to be turned away & ask him what the next step is. He tells me to check back in an hour.
A bit over an hour later I see a man look at the car for about 10 minutes and then walk away. Shortly after that Alan comes out & tells me that they went through the whole car & could not figure out what was wrong with it, but he was the one that worked on the car & they could not have caused the issue. Again I simply defend myself & my common sense & ask what the next step is. He then starts to tell me the price of diagnostic testing, I cut him off & tell him i’m not paying for anything else & they needed to fix what they messed up. I then ask for the phone numbers to corporate & or the owners. Alan walks into the shop and talks to Sam for a minute or so before Sam waves me out to the shop.
Sam looks at me with his arms crossed and says «you wanted to talk to me» I tell him «no I don’t» and that I just needed the phone numbers I asked for. Sam then in a very condescending way tells me «I’m an investor and the highest person you will be talking to».
Believing what he told me I recap the entire issue & ask that it be fixed & what they were going to do to fix the issue. Sam looks at me smiles waves in my face and says «bye bye» then precedes to say «And how could I even trust what you say, look at your car you abviosly don’t take care of it» (not my car or true).Feeling he was attempting to provoke an assault at this point I decide to get in the car & leave. Just before backing out of the shop I poke my head out to confirm that an investor was asking me to leave the property & that the next step would have to be litigation.
All of the sudden Sam get very jumpy & responds «you don’t have to get rude with me, if you want the owners phone number I’ll give it to you». I remind him he just told me he was an investor & all of the sudden he claims he said «invested employee» (nope). Sam finally gets me the real owners numbers & just as I’m leaving the check engine light come on. I bring it up to Alan & he tells me The Kwik Kar Bee Cave Line «we could not have caused that» I back out and head home to call the owner.
Make a call to the owner who is very apologetic for the experience but refuses to admit any fault in the issue as well. We come to an agreement to drop the car off the next day to have him look at it. After Getting off the phone with him, I decide to call a mechanic friend for advice. He advises me to simply unhook the battery for 15 minutes & see if it resolves the issue. I do what he asks & everything fixed !
So in my experience at Kwik Kar Bee Cave I went in for an oil Change, got upsold on something I really didnt need, Which caused an issue with my fiances car, I was then treated like a scam artist, in essence told my common sense didnt matter, insulted, had my fiancé insulted, completely disrespected, and lost an entire day of production. And it only cost me $ 80.00
In closing this shop has great potential with an owner that seems to care, but with a shop manager that sets a very negative tone inside the building which makes it a 1 star shop as long as Sam is the person running it.

I took my car to get an oil change back in December, but today my check emissions light came on so we were trying to diagnose the problem, so my boyfriend checked the oil only to find out there was ABSOLUTELY NO OIL IN THE CAR, seriously??? Who forgets to put oil in a car when it there for a freaken OIL CHANGE??? My car was running with no oil for more then two months. Im pissed. They did fill the car up with oil, because it was clearly their mess up, now I will check to see if there’s oil in the car every time I get an oil change.

My husband and I had the worst car experience in our lives at this place. I just want people to know that not only did they try to rip us off, «Bill» was completely disrespectful and rude to me. I had to drop off my car for hours, and all I needed was an inspection, they did a $ 129 diagnostician test and said my car would not pass the Texas inspection unless we paid $ 490. to have a repair that the test found, and they would take the $ 129 out of the $ 490.
I felt we needed a second opinion so i went to what used to be American Service Station, and my car passed the Texas inspection within 30 minutes.
I called back to Kwik Kar to ask Bill if there was a mistake in the test, or if maybe just they wouldn’t pass my car with what they found, I wanted clarification. We were concerned was there something wrong or not with my car ?
When i called Bill, he told me «if you don’t want to fix your car that’s on you» and hung up on me. Literally hung up on me. That is the worst customer service i have ever experienced.

I have no idea how they stay in business.
It is a nice, new, clean shop with friendly employees, unfortunately thats where anything positive stops.
Went in for a simple oil/​filter change. Guy behind the counter said they will do exactly what Ford service does (same oil, inspections, etc.). So, I’m thinking +/​-​$ 50 to $ 60. The tech then domes to me and states «I’m ready for your estimate». I’m like WHAT?! Estimate for an oil change?
Came back with almost a $ 700 estimate… I was stunned. My truck has 35k miles on it and is in perfect condition. Everything from radiator flush to replacing axle fluid. And stated that all of the repairs were on schedule with Ford’s normal service schedule.
I opted for the oil change and air filter. Long story short: they charged me over double for the oil change and left my air filter out! I didn’t notice until the next day because of the loud noise from the engine. Open air box with no filter in it.
Nothing they recommended was part of the normal maintenance.
Blatantly lied about the normal maintenance schedule from Ford and charge twice as much for a simple oil change. I now go to Ford (longer drive and more hassle but they don’t try and screw you). And pay $ 39.99 for an oil change.

Super fast service, friendly staff, Keurig coffee (not the best but better than average car service station coffee), TV, WiFi, and reasonable prices.
Why go anywhere else?

PLEASE BEWARE OF THE OTHER REVIEWS!! So, here it is. I do not usually write bad reviews but here it goes. Took my vehicle into Kwik car Bc the check engine light is on. Ok. Get a call back and they tell me in order to just check the problem with the computer it would cost me 385 in labor. Have to get it fixed so whatever. Get a call and they tell me the code was for whatever and this is the problem and would cost me 1200. Ok. Whatever I need to get it fixed so do it. 1 day later the check engine light comes on again. Bring it back and they say the software needs to be updated. Ok. They paid for this. Got another call after they updated the software and guess what? Something else is wrong which will cost me another 800. ARE U KIDDING ME? Why would it have not given u more than one error code to begin with? He tells me if I did get the work done he would not guarantee that the problem would be fixed. WHY WOULD I HAVE YOU DO ANYTHING MORE TO MY CAR? U DO NOT KNOW WHAT U ARE DOING! I plan on taking it to my regular mechanic. I will NEVER go back. It is sad that this happened. PLEASE BEWARE OF THE OTHER REVIEWS!
I just wanted to update my previous review. Apparently there was a misunderstanding between the technician s and the manager Sam. Sam has since contacted me and explained the situation. He has taken care of the problem at no cost and even went into the store on his day off to update me on my vehicle. THANK YOU SAM. I will continue to use Kwik car for my other 5 vehicles. Thank you for stepping up to the plate Sam and Kwik car!

I was totally skeptical about this place due to the horrible reviews about price gouging. However, being Sunday with a car that quit starting after being moved for cleaning before a sale tomorrow, I had to tow it somewhere for help. I spoke with Will and shared my budgetary concerns being a single Mom, he assured me they would communicate all costs before doing any work. Luckily for me, it turned out to be a simple battery replacement (under warranty with AAA who missed that when they came to the house). They did a quick oil change, topped everything off and gave me a few things to keep an eye on for the friend buying the car. They even are staying late for AAA to show back up to give me my replacement battery! I will definitely return as they have earned my trust and gratitude for handling things so professionally and considerately. Ask for Will and I trust you will have as great of an experience!

With having the name kwik car it really is quick. I went in to have my inspection done and was in and out of this place in no time. It was clean and had even a coloring station for the little ones. Tvs and magazines.

Ripoff! Took my car for state inspection just because it was right next to where I lived. They said they had to fix the emergency brake or it wouldn’t pass. Charged me $ 90 and the brake STILL DIDN’T WORK, they refused to give me my money back because they said even though it didn’t work it was better than it was. Are you kidding me?

I went in for an inspection sticker, someone pulled my car in right away, but then after five mechanics and a shop supervisor, stood around about a half hour, someone finally began working on it. So I was brought out to be shown I had a leaking power steering pump. They then presented me with a complete scam of a quote! They wanted $ 366.46 for a new pump, 115.99 to flush the lines, 200 more in labor 20 for «supplies» all in all over 700 $ worth of fraud in my opinion! I went to auto zone in oak hill, bought a power steering pump for $ 51.00 and paid an honest mechanic $ 175 to install it. Bottom line I would never recommend anyone come to a kwik kar for anything other than wiper blades or an oil change, and even then you should bring a groupon or something, because these guys will scam the hell out of you, if you let them!

I contacted this shop to ask if any appointment was needed. Got a reply within 10 minutes saying no and that usual wait time for the service I requested — annual inspection — would take about 20 minutes. She was correct and the service was quick, clean and easy.

DON’T GO HERE! They just recently within the last 12 months went through a change in owners, and with it a dramatic turnover in staff and auto technicians and even the office staff. These new folks are either 1) not honest, OR 2) don’t know what they are doing. Either way it’s bad news and it’s terribly disappointing given the previous owners were honest and knew my family and our 4 cars and seemed pretty honest. The new owners are NOT honest or they are simply INCOMPETENT.
My son and I went in separately to take care of issues that were prohibiting us from getting our inspections. We each (coincidentally) went to Kwik Car to get the issues resolved only to have them upsell us on completely different services and STILL NOT resolve the issues we needed repaired. They claimed the issues that the inspections mechanics (separate place, Mazda Southpark Meadows) were dinging us on, were really not in need of repair. Instead Kwik Car says, «No, no you just need a radiator flush — approx. $ 150.» Five days later radiator conks out and Kwik Car says, «Whoops, our bad, we didn’t catch that. Now you need an entirely new radiator — $ 750, please.» Really?!?
On another occasion we tell Kwik Car about another problem inspections said we needed taken care of — brakes issues. Kwik Car says, «Nah, we don’t see a problem, but you do have this XX issue. Get that done instead.» We go back to inspections a week later and they tell us, «Get another mechanic, because had they really checked your brakes they would have caught that your front brakes needed to be replaced and your back brakes needed to be cleaned.»
Alright Kwik Car, burn me once — shame on me, I was a fool to trust you that second time. I won’t let you burn me a third. And I have every intention of letting everyone in our Lake Travis community know how dishonest and/​or incompetent your mechanics and management are, Worst way to carry out a business.

I have left a positive review in the past, but had a different experience this time. I totally got the up sell vibe from the guy running the shop. He seemed to be calling every customer back and doing the same. They would come back and explain to their spouse what was said. I know every car probably needs some TLC, but it’s a vibe I was getting. They also left the compartment air filter on the floorboard for me to put back myself. Also oil marks left on glove compartment and door handle. First time getting s synthetic oil change, is $ 90 normal?

Clean, friendly, helpful, honest, fast. I never review service centers on Unilocal,but this place is the best.

This place is all about the upsell.
I have a higher mileage, 10 year old Jeep and all I needed was a basic oil change. The price at Kwik Kar was very expensive and they initially tried to get me to fork over $ 130+ for a full synthetic oil change (no thank you, this Jeep is a $ 20 oil change special, typically).
Then the technician tells me I need a new cooling fan. He told me he could get the part and replace it for $ 250 and that it would take him about 30 minutes. Well I found out the part is only $ 50 and I could replace it with basic tools. I also checked it at home (I work on cars regularly) and it passed the usual tests to check if you need to replace it.
Sorry, but this place might be a one and done for me.

For starters– I know batteries can die pretty much anytime– and usually it’s not convenient– however my experience with kwik Car leaves me skeptical.
First I take in my car running completely fine– just to get a state inspection done– my car PASSES the state inspection, they park it in their parking lot, I pay, go out to start my car and NOTHING– odd, since 20mins ago I drove a working car here. So they come out, test the spark plugs, test the battery– and what-​do-​you-​know the battery is dead! Now this could be some crazy coincidental timing– but it definitely benefits the shop when a battery happens to die in their parking lot– where you can pay them to replace it.
Also– background– this same vehicle was taken in for preventative maintenance 3 weeks prior and the battery tested just fine then/​I called and confirmed with the shop.
So– decide for yourself– you can chance bringing in a perfectly fine car and maybe it will be fine when you get your keys back– but I won’t be back.
Only pro– nice courteous girl Tina helping behind the counter.

I am so disappointed in this place! I really liked it in the beginning when they first opened. I like supporting local businesses and it’s close to my house. I got two oil changes there and the staff is super friendly. Until this week. My air conditioner started blowing hot air, so naturally, I assumed it was low on freon. I drove there and paid for a full A/​C inspection and the manager came to me to explain that it would be about $ 2,100 to fix. He said that my compressor was going bad, I had a bad pipe, and many other things that «he commonly sees.» I do have 115K miles on my car, so I was concerned. Fortunately my husband said to bring it home and we’ll get a second opinion. I heard from our mechanic today (who we love and trust; he’s fixed them in many cars we’ve had) and he said after an extensive search, he couldn’t find anything wrong other than being low on freon. My compressor isn’t going bad, I didn’t have a «bad pipe», or any of the other list-​long things that Kwik Kar said. My total: $ 75. Like I said, disappointed. It’s sad to think of how many people fall for that kind of diagnosis especially in this Texas heat when they’re desperate. Shame on you, Kwik Kar. You just lost two loyal customers.

Great service and a great price. The staff was kind and respectful and very professional. Very clean establishment. I will not go anywhere else after my last visit. Your staff made getting my oil change a pleasurable experience.

Very friendly staff and quick service.
I brought my car in twice, once for a spark plug change and once to diagnose a check engine light. Both times they offered me a car to use while my repairs were being done, but I didnt take them up on the offer either time.
The first visit with the spark plugs, they told me 3 hours, but had the repairs done way beforehand.
The second time I brought my car in because of a check engine light. I left my car with them and had a friend give me a ride to work. I got several calls throughout the day to explain the issue and ask if I would like to have the repairs done. I didn’t get any ‘pushy’ salesman feel from them. The work was done in a timely manner and so far I have not had any other issues.
I would recommend their service and will go back for oil changes and other minor issues.

This place was awesome. I went on saturday at 12:00 and was out of there by 12:15. They were quick, friendly, not pushy or overbearingly trying to con or sell me something. They vacuumed my floors and filled my tires. $ 30 for an oil change with that kind of service, you can’t beat it.
The facility was super clean, the waiting room was large with plenty of nice seating and a generally, surprisingly pleasant experience. I hate going anywhere to get any work done on my car, but I will definitely be back.
