Meet the Business Owner
Jim F.
Business Owner
Jim has an extensive history of performing engineering support services that has led to the founding of Chesapeake Testing. He supported the Ballistic Research Lab at APG with aircraft vulnerability and survivability challenges, while helping to establish survivability as a formal engineering discipline. His work led him to Sikorsky and later SAIC, but in 1981, Jim and his wife Nancy founded the SURVICE Engineering Company in the basement of their Bel Air home. Their first hire was their newly graduated engineer son Jeff. Jim’s true passion started when he addressed the military’s urgent need to test, certify, and field body armor, helmets and other protective equipment for combat personnel. This desire spawned Chesapeake Testing. Under his leadership and direction, Chesapeake Testing continues to grow in capability and reputation.
