Great food, great price. I order from this spot at least once a month when we want home-style cooking but are too pressed for time to cook at home. The folks that run the place are very nice and they have a nice selection available. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for Spanish food done Dominican style.

I actually been here a couple of times and can’t believe I haven’t written a review about this place! I’ve had almost everything in here : Their sancocho on Saturday’s when I feel sick, which is really good… They literally put the broth in a container and the meats in another one … Now that’s what I’m talking about!!! Most places put everything in one container and barely put meat in the sancocho… Also the mofongo de chicharron OMG is so good and they literally put half a pound of chicharron… The plantain is not dry at all and they give you some mojito and gravy sauce to go along with it mmmmm just talking about it— is making me hungry… The white rice with beans and stew chicken is real good as well … My favorite is the yellow rice with stew beef … Their portions are huge and u will be left with leftovers for 3 days!!! The staff is super friendly and they give u samples … They are even opening another restaurant!

The food is great. Disappointing that they mainly serve beef and pork. I’ve been to several hispanic resturants who have at least 2 chicken dishes or 1 fish and 1 chicken dish daily.

Mofongo. Just the word excites me. Fried plantains mashed into a tight ball of goodness and doused with a healthy helping of delicious broth is a foodie’s dream come true. I have been enamored by this dish for years and have become particularly picky as where I would have my fill of it. Alas I have finally found a place near me that serves up one of the most delicious mofongo I have had in a very long time. I’m talking about Mi Tierra Restaurant of course. This amazing hole-in-the-wall Dominican restaurant serves up a mean mofongo and mangú. When I say it’s a mean one I’m talking about Chris Brown and Rihanna level… whoops sorry too soon. Anyways this restaurant in Belleville has some of the most authentic and delicious Puerto Rican and Dominican dishes this side of the Hudson River! My favorite mofongo from Mi Tierra would have to be with shrimp(camarones). They cook this dish to order. No pre-made stuff here people. I came into the store, ordered mofongo, and actually saw them make everything from scratch. Just like grandma used to make is what pops-up in my head. The slight sweetness of the plantains, the fatty flavor of the oil, and the aroma of the garlic blends together so harmoniously that whatever these guys are doing, I don’t want them to change a single thing. Coupled with the fact that they also make an incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned pernil and you know I’m gonna be coming back to them many more times in the future. So don’t delay any further. Give them a call for delivery, or better yet drive yourself over so you can get the food faster(there’s a parking lot to the side and back of the building). Then sit back, savor the flavor, and be transported to the beautiful islands of the Caribbean even if only in your mind.

(David Ortiz voice) BIGDOMINICANLONCH… you want some mofongo? …Bistec encebollado? Yucca con pernil… chicharron de pollo? Seriously I had to move from NYC to NJ to quite possibly find the best dominican food in the northeast. This hole in the wall is the real deal… fantastic food superbly prepared just like mom used to make… not your typical subpar overpriced overhyped dominican food. Generous portions very reasonably priced. We’ve had food from here several times already and it has been consistently outstanding. Highly recommended.

Possibly the worse dominican food I’ve ever had! Please hire a real cook, not one that only uses salt and adobo. The yellow rice is awful and pollo guisado, nothing but salt. Will not order from here again. They also have items listed on groupon that they dont sell amd will replace your order without asking.

I ordered from my work for pick up. I send someone to pick it up and the minimum for the debit cards is 10. dollars something I should have been told on the phone. The rice was a little dry. I ordered two potatoes salad they brought a lettuce salad instead that pissed me off. Sometimes you don’t want to spend unnecessary money and also you don’t want to eat something you aren’t in the mood for so you throw it out and feel bad about it. The whole” we don’t have this because it isn’t the food of they day” is really annoying. Please get a Lil more organized. My food came back a disaster because they used the smallest plastic bag ever for like 5 plates all together since my coworker was ordering it was two seperate orders no napkins just a plastic fork unbelievable. Never again. I got so. sleepy afterwards and much heart burn yuck!

I honestly am slightly obsessed with this place. I have been here about two times now and sat in both times and have absolutely no complaints. It is a small business and as soon as you walk in you can see the dishes in front of you through the display. I personally prefer when restaurants do this due to the fact that i am so damn picky and would prefer to see what i am eating before i order it. As for my most recent visit it consisted of me ordering carne guisado with the usual rice, beans and i asked for a side of yuca. The meat was moist and tender and it had absolutely no fat, thank god because fat skeeves me out, lol. The rice and beans were perfect and so was the yuca. Full of flavor and did me justice since i was super hung over from the night before! They were also able to make some chicken fingers and french fries for my son which were a little greasy but very delicious. The seating is limited. There is only two very small tables but in reality i don’t care about that and would rather have my spanish food hot on the spot then have it delivered or picked up and taken back home. Over-all, i am very pleased with this place and plan on returning damn near every week!

Wow, great food! I had said I wanted some meat this afternoon and a coworker suggested this place. I ordered the pernil and it was fantastic. Everyone is very friendly. Hard to park but hey, they have delivery, so next time I’ll order online. Rice and beans are great, too. I’ll definitely order again.

Craving some great Dominican food??? Look no further and you don’t have to truck to Newark! I love this spot and it’s even better to support«mom and pop» business! The owners are from the BX also so it has that NYC love behind it. The food and prices are dope! Check the pics of the new menu I posted. Last week I had lunch here. Beef stew, rice, beans and sweet plantains. This food pleased my craving and kinda had me in a food coma loved it! With tip all came out to $ 11. Will def go back and the parking is behind the restaurant with a kind of hidden driveway. It’s more of a grab and go place but there are two tables in case you’ll prefer to stay and eat.

Definitely worth it. This place is the true meaning of Mom and Pop shop. Im a white girl married to a puerto rican, so I do enjoy good spanish food… here, they greet you like family and make great food. You dont break the bank eating lunch, and its good food. Not meant for sit in, so Id recommend just grabbing to go and enjoying at home… this place will make you a believer…

Ehhhh 2 stars is a little too low so i will say this place gets a low 3. The little one wanted rice and beans for dinner but I had a long day at work and didn’t feel like cooking. I ordered Maduro’s, carne guisado w/rice and beans and pollo guisado w/rice and beans. Delivery came within half an hour. The food smelled DELICIOUS in the bag. My dogs and I were salivating. Maybe because I was hungry enough to eat a small horse. I immediately popped open the Maduro’s to steal one and my heart dropped when I opened the container. As someone who has mastered the art of picking out ripe plaintains and cooking them at optimal ripeness(I wait until they are completely black outside) I could right away tell that these platanos were not ripe enough. A quick test confirmed that. My daughter loves Maduro’s and didn’t even finish one. Smh I was very dissapointed. Anyway, moving on to the main dish. I can’t speak for the pollo guisado cause I had the carne but it was ok at best. The meat was tough and had too much vinegar. The beans were flavorless. Maybe I’m spoiled? I didn’t expect it to be as good as home cooked but I thought I would at least be able to fool the baby. Nope. She asked me why the beans didn’t taste like mine. Overall this place is ok if you haven’t had real good Dominican cooking but I’ll pass next time. At least it satisfies my immense hunger in the meantime.

Ordered delivery, and I got a cheerful delivery person in the cold rain. Food is excellent, plentiful and comes hot. I got beans, a pastel and mangu with salami and cheese(I don’t like the egg with mangu, sue me.) Very good, $ 12 for all that.
