St. Elizabeth’s Hospital

This hospital plays a crucial role in providing medical care to Belleville and the nearby communities. The facilities may be outdated, but the employees and medical providers care about the patients. They have many dedicated volunteers that ensure people’s need are met.
Many of the poor reviews on this hospital seem to stem from people not getting what they want. Unfortunately, medical service is unique in that good care and medically appropriate care may not be what the patient wants to hear.
It will be a shame for the city of Belleville when this hospital moves to Shiloh, leaving hundreds to thousands of people without medical care.

i’ve been to st. E’s (this location) twice. what i hate about urgent care is that you literally wait forever!!! and i mean forever! i know it’s first come first serve but it should be who’s really in pain and pretending to be in pain. hahaha. i was here on a day where a group of people had an accident and they were all laughing and giggling making jokes that they were really not injured. there are other people that need more attention and help then the ones that are joking around.
anyways the staff here is ehhh, they’re just ok. i experience better service if i was a new patient at a doctors office or even in the hospital (although i’ve experienced a hospital visit once. lol). I had to go through 6 different people before seeing an actual doctor here and they all asked me the same questions… i’m just like seriously? i’m sure its standard procedure but seriously. anyways my visit was quick with the doctor vs the waiting. which is probably like that everywhere.

I will have an ongoing review or multiples as day one was last night in the ER– well the ride to the hospital was a bit to be desired too!
After entering the ER — and people began playing their roles, it seemed that each one would rather be anywhere else but at work. The hospital took the time to hang a board in the room as the means of communicating with the patient however the night staff did not take the time to update their names– so it took sometime to figure out who was coming in the room and why– after the saline bag emptied the nurse while changing the bag decided to use the same hose after of which she laid the end of the hose in the sink to allow her un-​gloved hands to handle the bag and then attempted to put the hose from the sink into the patients arm!!! No concern about bacteria from the sink being a problem– we are now asking did we come to the right place??? The nurse kindly enough used a new line once she realized it was a bad idea to do this while we are watching — sad to say what they do to those that can’t or don’t speak up!

Much of what I said in my previous review remains the same. This place is incredibly frightening and seems more concerned about the money they will receive than the care they offer.
I was forced to come here today as it is the only hospital that the military will use for women related to the base that are pregnant. (At least unless you have some other major complication that requires the approval of one of the O.B.‘s to go to a different hospital with more specialized facilities.)
I was again given the Alzheimer’s nurse (see my previous review) who still seemingly was not of this world and had issues remembering anything asked for. When I specifically asked for any other nurse because I didn’t feel safe with her the RN nurse came in to bitch about how it was unfair to ask anyone else to trade nurses and that Alzheimer’s was a great nurse and I only had 3 hours left with her anyway. Since the RN was pretty much bitching me out I was just like: ‘yeah whatever’. I was pretty happy 3 hours later when she went home. I swear if they assign her to me again tomorrow I’m gonna tell the RN just where to shove her ‘great nurse’.
After Alzheimer’s left, having assured us it was okay that both my husband and son stay with me, the next nurse told me that wasn’t possible. So I told her ‘okay, well I don’t think I need to be here under observation anyway so I’ll go home with them.“
Suddenly they’re making an exception for the night cause lord knows they don’t wanna lose any money for me leaving. Then about 30 minutes later the doctor randomly calls me. (What doctors call at 9PM?) He goes on about how I could pretty much die in my condition if I have a contraction. Which after I was done freaking out about — am pretty sure he was put up to it by the nurses as a scare tactic. Particularly after reading about my own condition and how rare death complications are. I hate this hospital so much. I really hope they figure out a way to transfer me anywhere else.

This ER is the SLOWEST I’ve ever seen. We were in the main waiting area for 3.5 hours and have been waiting in the ER room for 2 more hours. Supposedly we’re waiting on the Doc to get to us, but there doesn’t seem to be very much going on here. (11 pm to 4 am… so far)
