Definitive Motors’ extensive experience goes back to 1976, beginning with our sister company LBR Automotive, Inc., a full service auto repair shop in Bellevue, WA. We ventured into the automotive sales market and have continued to grow our business with repeat and referral clientele for the last 10 years. Our experience reflects the quality vehicles we sell. I was born in Seattle, WA. Grew up in Redmond, WA and then my family moved to Bellevue in 1988. Graduated from Bellevue High School and have a 2 year degree from Bellevue Community College. Decided to pursue my automotive passion at the age of 19. My family immigrated from Ukraine in 1978, so I was fortunate to learn two fluent languages. I have one older brother who manages our Service Shop. Our family has been in the automotive business since 1982. Got married in 2009 and have one daughter. I love all kinds of cars including classics. Personal things I enjoy is spending time with my family and friends, traveling, Skiing, Boating, watching Football, music venues, and anything else that sounds fun!

I had a pretty decent experience at Definitive Motors. Steve really treated me with respect and helped me along with the process. He made sure to address any issues that I had and definitely did not come across as a high pressure sale. It was an easy, non hassle transaction. SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! This was the worst car buying experience I have ever have in my life, or even in my next life. The salesman was rude, the finance guy was cocky and racist. They look down on other people. I still bought a 2011 BMW 528i from them because I like the car so much. On the window sticker, it was marked as «warranty» and they also told me that the car still has about 2 months of factory warranty. Two week after the purchase date, without even 200 miles added to the odo, the car started to break down. It started with a very annoying noise everytime I accelerated. I brought the car into a BMW dealer and was told that the warranty for the car expried 3 months before my purchase date. I called Definitive Motor and complained, of course they would not take the car back, and also they tried to avoid helping me, then finally told me to bring the car into LBR auto repair. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE DEAL IS BETWEEN THEM, BUT AFTER LEAVING THE CAR WITH THEM FOR A NIGHT, THE CAR STARTED TO DEVELOP MORE AND MORE PROBLEMS. I DID NOT DARE TO BRING THE CAR BACK TO THEM BECAUSE I STRONGLY BELIEVED THAT THEY DID SOMETHING TO MY CAR OUT OF HATRED. THE LAST 6 MONTHS OF OWNING THE CAR WAS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE TO ME. PROBLEMS AFTER PROBLEMS, FOR EXAMPLE STUTTERING, HESISTATION WHEN ACCELERATE, DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION, BLAH BLAH BLAH, AND LASTLY, A WERK AGO, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. OWNING THIS CAR COSTED ME A LOT OF MONEY AND ENERGY. This was a total SCAM! Please, for your own good, avoid this place at all cost, don’t make a stupid mistake like I did.

It was a bad experience visiting this dealership. I was interested in a preowned car they had but the staff attitude made me turn around and buy it same day from Michael’s Toyota dealership that is really close. And it wasn’t a Toyota. That was the turnover point. I will never ever buy a car from small dealers like this.

My worst car shopping experience so far. I’ve called Steve for a 2012 BMW that has been in their lot for 4+ months and went on to check it.
Once you’re in, you’ll have a warm welcome, then the moment you start negotiating the price, it’ll be a different story. It totally understandable that we might not agree on a price, but the rude and lame way they use once you start negotiating isn’t. You might even start hearing things like «Oh, I know where you coming from» and «I know what’s going on here» in a very lame way.
I was wondering «why such a nice car didn’t sell for 4+ months», but less than 5 mins at this dealer and I knew the problem wasn’t with the car.
My advice, save your time and look for another dealer with a better reputation unless you are 100% ok with their ask price.

Tried to test drive a car, guy told me that I can go to dealership and test drive same one over there, instead of pulling out a car I wanted. Prices were not negotiable, maybe for Bellevue prices are low, but I found a much better deal in Lynnwood (by better deal I mean a couple grand).
Maybe I didn’t look wealthy enough for him?

Carfax scam? I purchased a car here and asked for a Carfax. They happily gave me one that was free from any blemishes. My insurance company also ran one after I bought it and it shows that it was in a head-on accident over a year before I bought it. There was also a question on the odometer. The car showed less miles than what the report said.

Horrible experience. Saw that they had a 08 audi on the lot. Went down after work and waited for a sales rep for 15 mins without anyone greeting my friend or I. Once the sales rep came I requested to see the vehicle he unlocks it and I check it out and ask to test drive the vehicle and he says «I’m sorry we don’t let people test drive super cars without pre-approval of credit». Mind you this was for a 27k vehicle which is the same price as a New HONDA. This was very insulting to me as I am a business professional, who also owns a home and has very good credit! It was obvious that he profiled me. BUYERS DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!

I’ve purchased a couple used cars from Definitive Motors and cannot say enough good things about them. The sales guys were always super friendly, knowledgeable, and never once pressured me to purchase. This latest purchase I actually left to eat dinner and came back in an hour. I’ve seen a couple reviews complaining they won’t negotiate on price. I found that a relief. The price they had posted was more than fair compared to KBB and other sources so I didn’t mind skipping all the haggling. And they did give me a little extra on my trade in when I was a bit hesitant about the financing. Paperwork was also a breeze and I was never pressured to purchase any of the extras. On my latest car (purchased on a Sunday) we did all the paperwork for 4% financing. They said they were waiting on one more bank that the believed I could get 2.9% from since my credit was good. We filled out all the paperwork for the 4% on Sunday but then I received a call on Monday morning asking if I’d come back in to redo the paperwork since the credit union came back with the lower interest rate they thought I could get. Now THAT is service! I would totally purchase my next car from them and would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends.

I had been hunting for a 2008 MDX for quite a while when I found an ad on Craigslist that Definitive Motors just got one on their lot. When I called to inquire about it, it was close to 7pm, but was told that they would wait for me anyways so that I could see the car that night. The drive through traffic was definitely worth it – the car looked great and was in very good condition. What is the most impressive about this dealership, though, is the service they offer. From beginning to end, the process was simple and with no hassle, unlike my experiences with some bigger dealerships. What I appreciated the most was the financing part – it was straight forward and not sales-y as I had previously experienced. They worked with what I could afford and made it happen. Wow, Fred certainly does know how to put a spin on things when trying to cover his backside! There is no doubt that the car we bought was in terrible shape and they KNEW it. Just by letting us know the SECRET WAY in order to get it running again after the numerous times that it quit speaks volumes!!! The people in Spokane that have continued to pour time and effort into that car, along with my huge amount of money, in order to keep it running, constantly ask why I still own it. It is a piece of JUNK!!! I would not believe anything that Definitive Motors says about their cars, NOTHING!!! I am in the process of getting rid of this car, after spending 5500 dollars in order to drive it safely. I am also going to speak with people who deal with consumer protection laws. This was the worst car buying experience I have ever gone through. And I may add that I am not some first time car buyer. My mistake was believing that this Cadillac was everything they said it was. And it has cost me BIG TIME!!!

Terrible service, terrible car lot. I went in to checkout a car I really wanted, but I was met with rude service. When I finally got to the car I saw advertised, it was obviously rebuilt. The fender panels were off-line and the headlights were different. The sales person presented me a copied Carfax (I believe fabricated) and stated that it was never in an accident. I showed him the evidence of the poor rebuild job and he simply turned red and became angry. Disgusted that they would try to sell damaged, rebuilt cars as new, I left without another word. Moral of the story: Look beyond the smoke and mirrors that the dealership puts up! Go somewhere else. It’s not worth saving $ 15k-$ 5k on a car that will cost you a lot more when you get it home.

I recently bought a MINI from DM and absolutely love it. Comparing it to the competition it was fairly priced and was within my budget. This was one of the biggest things for me. In all reality, nobody enjoys buying a car. The process is tough, it costs more money than you have, and typically speaking you are treated less than you should be due to sales men and women trying to make a living off of commission.
My experience here was different. I was able to buy a car that was within my budget. Along with many people in the current economy, times aren’t the easiest. When I was put into a situation where my vehicle died the day I started a new job, in a new city, in an unfamiliar situation, I was pressed to have to make a move quickly. Financially, this was no easy situation (and mentally). Thankfully, I was able to purchase a vehicle that I truly love and can afford it. Definitive Motors did a number of things to me that I am so grateful for. I’m not sure how else to express it rather than through a Unilocal review:
1. When my old vehicle broke, they took mercy on my financial situation and towed the vehicle for free for me. They are also storing it on their external lot for me until the deal is finalized.
2. When selling them my vehicle, they took care of everything for me. They went above and beyond to make it easiest for me and my family. This extra effort would not have been done at a dealership.
3. While my father and I may have not been respectful to them while discussing details (it’s a stressful time — am I right?), they were there for us throughout. They listened to us. They went the extra effort for us. They truly exemplified why they should not be compared to a typical «used car lot.»
Overall, I don’t think I realized the extent at which they wanted to make this deal happen for me. Not for themselves. But for me. I would hands down rate Definitive Motors a 5 out of 5 stars — special shoutout to the guys working directly with me — Steve Castellese and Fred Chulsky.

We bought a bmw from Definitive motors 2 years ago. We were shown the car fax and assured everything about the car was clean. We were told it had blue tooth and it did not. 2 years later we are trading it in and the dealership shows us THE REAL car fax… It had been in a accident and they bought it in a auction. They knew that BMW had been in an accident when they purchased it in the auction. We were shown a fake car fax. Beware these guys are scammers and there is a reason the cars are lower priced. Pull your own carfax… I wish we would have.

I was looking for a very specific car — a black Audi A4 Prestige S-Line model. They had a 2013 model with only 6k miles on it at Definitive, but it was priced a little high for a used car that was about to be replaced by 2014 models.
I was ready to purchase with cash in hand and wanted to negotiate the price, but the salesman didn’t seem interested in getting me into a car at all and was totally willing to let me walk off the lot without even attempting to deal. He said, «We are a wholesale dealer, and we know what our cars will sell for. We price them to move. This car is probably just out of your budget range.»
Before I walked off the lot, I said «Well maybe you could let me know if a similar car comes in that would be closer to my offer price?» He replied with, «You can look yourself on our website.» Classy.
A few days later, I e-mailed Fred — the general manager, thinking maybe I just didn’t get the right guy in the right mood at the right time. Unfortunately, Fred came across equally apathetic. He didn’t counter offer or even attempt to ask me a single question or gather any info to see if there was some ground between my offer price and their ask price. Or maybe if there was another car I might be interested in.
I went down to University Audi and got a brand new comparable model for less than the used ask price at Definitive and they treated me like a *very* valued customer at University. At the time of this review, the used Audi is still sitting on the lot at Definitive for the same price. I’m sure they will lower the price once it gathers enough dust.
To be fair, a friend of mine had a better experience with Definitive than i did, but he walked in willing to pay their ask price straight up. If you see a car you want on their lot and are willing to pay the price, I’d say go for it. They are not bad people at all, they just don’t seem interested in negotiating their prices.

Looked at a 2007 bmw 328xi, 23k miles. Told the car was clean and had a perfect history… i was even given a copy of their inspection which showed no problems. Paid 300 for an inspection which proved car had been crashed and other mechanical problems. Please don’t buy your car here, the staff is unfriendly, they lie, and they are unwilling to negotiate. If you are looking at the 07 xi with 23k miles, it has been crashed and both rear tires need replacement, among other things…

Tiny lot with cars packed in like sardines. We browsed and did end up test driving a X5 which had everything I wanted and more. Too bad the guy was pressuring us blahblahblah since we were trying to trade in my Jeep and he was saying how someone else has to come to look at my car. Truthfully, we live almost 30+ minutes away… We can’t just drive up here for shi*ts and giggles for a Maybe. We ended up just declining and got our car somewhere else.

Fred was honest, professional, friendly, and responsive. He gave us great information during the buying process and continued his outstanding customer service well after the sell of the car. While we primarily worked with Fred, we also had interactions with other members of his staff– and all of them were extremely friendly and provided outstanding customer service. I’m happy to say I found a great MINI Cooper S somewhere else!!!
These guys are NO different from some of those Autos Sales you see along HWY99. Steve was the salesman who helped me. Man, I received NO eye-contact whatsoever while dealing with him — that’s not a good sign. So please pay attention to that. And if you never get to meet the big boss upstairs (who ever he is)…then that’s also a sign.
I made an offer on the dark silver 2006 MINI S. The Cragslist price they posted it at was $ 12 250. Then I get there they gave be the run-around that they fixed the valve body issues so the price went back up to $ 14 999. Okay no problem there. Then I made my bottom line final offer of $ 14 300. and their bottom line was $ 14 500. We couldn’t agree so NO deal was made — so I said I’ll think about it. Then the next morning I decided I’ll settle at $ 14 500. So I called Steve and said I’ll buy it at $ 14 500. He said he’ll talked to his boss (upstairs) and will get back to me… HE NEVER DID until 5 hours later. Then he said they sold it to someone else. Wow, love their business ethics! Then 3 days later that same MINI is back on Craiglists. So I DID NOT have a pleasant experience with Definitive Motors in Bellevue and with the salesman Steve Castellese.
So I suggest you guys check out:
OMG! These guys are the best when it comes to QUALITY, PRICES and PROFESSIONALISM! Love their very selective handpicked pre-owned/pre-love cars. Absolutely no BS– just great buying experiences!!! I’m one of those that never wanted to buy a car online. But man, I am sold after my award winning experience with Bul Auto Sales. ! It’s a small family owned auto dealer in Albany, NY.
