MacPherson’s Property Management

I own a property, managed by MacPherson’s for past 2 yrs. Janine Bade has been my property manager. She’s awesome. Always available, responds to requests over email, and most questions/​needs are met within 24 – 48 hours. She also takes care of tenant requests right away (roof molding, fixing washer/​dryer, lawns etc.). When the property was vacant, she helped with the advertising and found another renter within a month. Overall, I’m very happy with Janine at MacPherson’s. The office in Bellevue has also been helpful. I recently had to request HOA summary statement and Debbie helped out right away — they also manage the community I own the property in. That’s dual benefit for me as an owner. Within minutes I had the statement in my inbox. I would recommend MacPherson’s for managing your property.

I dont even want to give Macpherson’s one star. Cherie (the supposed branch manager) is a nightmare to deal with! We have been renting with Macpherson’s for 6 months. Cherie is also our agent. The number of times I have tried to get in touch with her, she doesn’t answer or doesn’t return our phone calls. The most recent time she has spoken with me was horrible and VERY unprofessional! When I would civily ask a question, she proceeded to yell and threaten me with, «I have been doing this a long time do not pull things with me». This situation was over the fact someone entered our home WITHOUT written notice within atleast 24 hours (which is what the LAW states for privacy). She told me a notice had been mailed to me and posted at my residence. Neither my boyfriend nor I have seen these notices. Mailed to me? Cherie never gave us our «promised» mail box keys on move in (she couldnt even meet us on move in to give us our copy of the rental agreement or our keys). How am I supposed to get this notice if I can’t get into my mail box. Instead she screamed at me, swearing she personally gave us all of these items (forms and keys). Instead, she actually delievered our HOA regulations. Everything that has been promised to us or even written in our contract has not been followed through with, by Cherie or Macpherson’s since DAY ONE. We pay an extremely high rate of rent for treatment like this. Its not worth the stress we have been put through. I feel that if I do NOT document everything, we would’ve been screwed over. Whatever you do, avoid this company at all possibilties. If you are already stuck with them, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING.
UPDATE ⁰⁵⁄₀₈:
For 2 months now, we have had a serious mold problem from water damage (we believe it is a gutter on the outside of the wall). Of course I have documented everything, then sent a letter to Cherie (which she claimed was a «threatening» letter and she does not like recieving them — this letter was simply a request for repairs). She came out about 10 days later. She took pictures, then told me, «Sometimes this happens when furniture is pushed up against the wall». (we have a dresser against a corner of a wall). UM EXCUSE ME!!! PEOPLE PUT FURNITURE AGAINST THE WALL ALL THE TIME AND THIS DOESNT HAPPEN. This is water damage, not damage from a dresser. She was at our home for 5 minutes, told us their (ONE) maintenance guy would contact us. It has been TWO months and we have heard NOTHING. Legally, in the state of Washington, repairs MUST be done within 10 days. We will be moving forward with our lawyer, especially since mold is NOT safe to be breathing.
UPDATE ⁸⁄₃₀:
Our 1 year lease is thankfully over tomorrow and I can’t be any happier that these people will not get anymore of my money or time. I am also ecstatic they will be out of my life. Two weeks before our lease was up our property manager Cherie was badgering us about getting our keys back via text. We simply told her that the lease was not up until August 31^st. She did not reply. We have been getting twice weekly texts hounding us for the ONE key we were given when our lease is NOT up. When we reply, there is no answer. They NEVER fixed the mold, instead ito took them 3 months to send a 3^rd party company to look at it and basically tell us to leave our windows open and the fans on. They did NOTHING for the year we lived there. There is an electrical problem in the bedroom and kitchen, so we did not have lighting in those areas for the year we paid rent. I am so done with this company. NEVER AGAIN. I warn every potential renter to avoid Macpherson’s all together. They are SLUMLORDS. We have been served with TWO pay or leave notices because they don’ t keep records and I have personally had to show them proof of receipts that THEIR employees have written for rent to prove I have paid rent. Also, we signed this lease last August (8÷31÷2012), we could not move in until the rest of our security deposit was paid. We pre-​arranged with Cherie that we would pay $ 795 at the lease signing, and $ 795 on move in. Our move in date was 2 weeks later. They tried to charge us $ 300 for «living» at the rental those 2 weeks! When we hadn’t even had keys to they place those 2 weeks and she KNEW IT. Do NOT let them feed you the B.S. Cherie has now threatened us with an eviction because our things are not out of the rental. OUR LEASE IS UP TOMORROW. Pardon my French but screw these people. A lawyer has been involved with us the last 6 months about this situation and I am tempted to take this further. I have also submitted my story to Komo’s problem Solvers and I will also be submitting my story to the attorney general’s office. It makes the company youre trying to review look even worse when your review is limited to 5000 characters and you still have more to say. So glad I’m done with worthless company.
