I have treated regularly with a different naturopath for my Hashimoto’s disease for almost 15 years, and I appreciate naturopaths’ comprehensive treatment modality. A male friend started experiencing symptoms I suspect are related to low testosterone, so I recommend he treat with a naturopath. My naturopath is in Seattle; I tried to find an Eastside one for my friend. I liked Corsilles’ blogs, and sent my friend a link. He had his appointment today, and I found his treatment by Corsilles’ to be shockingly inept. First, the staff tried to have my friend sign that he received the Privacy Statement when they never gave it to him. Picky I know, but I’m a healthcare lawyer, so such errors tell me things about the facility. Per my friend, Corsilles failed to take what I would consider an adequate health history. In fact, he failed to even ask the onset of symptoms. Any naturopath I have ever seen usually takes a more comprehensive health history, not less. In addition, Corsilles claimed that horse-derived testosterone is as «natural» as the bio-identical. Again, anyone who researches bio-identical hormones recognizes the issue here and has likely formed an opinion. But for a naturopath to make such a statement is disconcerting. He never explained the differences between the two forms; never presented risks or benefits, etc. After calling me, my friend has decided to get his blood test results, and if he is low, treat elsewhere. Sadly, Corsilles seems to have all the negative traits associated with traditionally-trained physicians and none of the positive traits of a naturopath. In sum, the visit was short, uninformative, and not worth repeating.
