Pizzeria Guido & Wine Bar

Not surprised this place closed down after their back handed tactics of automatic gratuity because you’re using Groupon. With average to tasteless food, high prices and an empty restaurant, good riddens!

They only serve wine and beer and the menu is limited. They need more variety and some daily specials. Food has been very good to average.

Had an Entertainment Book BOGO coupon so thought I’d give them a try since we always just go to Tutta Bella. I grabbed 2 pizzas to-​go. I think I learned that their pizza is best eaten fresh THERE at their restaurant. Got one sausage pizza (Salsiccia) and another that had mushrooms and asparagus (Pizza alla Guido). Grabbed the Guido one bc I figured that I normally wouldn’t get that and well, why not since I had a BOGO. Ate the pizza some 20 minutes after picking it up and by then the crust was rather soft. When I reheated it at night, I pan fried it to get the crust to firm up and it was much better. All of us (including a 3 yr old) like the sausage pizza but the Pizza alla Guido was not that great.
The service was excellent — the food was ready when they said it would be and the lady who checked us out was super friendly. I was a bit nervous with the name «and wine bar» bc I thought the atmosphere wouldn’t be appropriate for a toddler so got take out but we will go back and eat at the restaurant since there were other families with kids and it looked just as kid friendly as Tutta Bella.

Truly a hidden gem. My husband and I drive by here all the time and never went in. From the looks of it, it looked like a fairly expensive Italian restaurant. When you walk inside and peer through the menu, it is appropriately priced.
Service was decent. The waitress was attentive. She answered our questions. She was very accommodating and apologetic when my husband’s lasagna was a little cold in the center. She immediately took it back and had them warm it up for him. She made sure it was to his liking before leaving the table without being too creepy.
Food was tasty. I had a pizza. Can’t remember which one but it was gone. Usually there are leftovers involved when I get pizza. One Unilocaler complained of soggy pizza crust. Can’t say mine was the same. Mine was crispy and flaky. Pretty incredible.
My husband essentially inhaled his lasagna. He is what you call an afficiando when it comes to lasagna. He loved every bite. We normally get turned off when we find things in our food that is not edible but were pleased to see the sauce for the lasagna was made in house. I will never complain when I see fresh bay leaves in any of my Italian dishes that I order.
It is sad to see this place get such low reviews but it is possible they had an off night here and there with service or the chefs. Regardless of which reviews influences your decision, hope you keep an open mind about this place. My husband and I had a wonderful date night here and will be coming back for more.

Love Pizzeria Guido! My husband and I love authentic Italian and have been to Firenze next door for years. We love Guido’s casual feel, friendly service and always quality food. I covet the Lasagna alla Toscana and my husband always gets a pizza and is never disappointed. Amazing wine selection. Our server even gave us several tasters complimentary including a full glass of dessert wine since he wanted us to linger and enjoy our date night, You can’t go wrong. Grab that Groupon they always feature for even more savings though their prices are reasonable for the quality you get.

I’ve been there a couple times and had a fantastic experience both times. They were short on staff the last time we went but the waitress was super nice and quick on her feet. She checked on us to make sure everything was tasting ok and let us have our own time as well. We love the spagetti with meat sauce and their chicken dishes. The pizzas are really good too, good option for the little ones. All in all it is a very good authentic italian restaurant and we will be coming back soon.

Came here because of Groupon deal. Place was empty, blonde server was inexperienced, no manager in sight just server and cooks. Food was okay, but that is an overstatement via the price. Not worth it.

Fyi — Sundays and Mondays are ½ price wine bottle night.
We used a groupon for our meal. I was a little apprehensive after reading recent reviews but our experience was nothing but positive. We did not get 14.5% gratuity added to our party of 2 nor did we receive bread. I am not taking the latter into account because we did not want or ask for the bread basket.
We ordered the stuffed pizza crust which was basically an italian quesadilla. We also had the pizza with italian sausage, carmelized onions, and basil. It was delicious. The sausage was sweet and spicy and the thin crust was nice and crispy. I would have enjoyed a little more basil on the pizza to add fresh flavor.
My companion and I also enjoyed the Tartufo for dessert. It was delicious but for 8.5 you only get a scoop. Next time if we want dessert, we’ll try another option.
Service was great, food was delicious. We’ll be back for seconds.

I live within walking distance and liked this place the first time we came. I saw a groupon and got excited! I could try more things off their menu and get a discount!
My husband and I ordered a lot of food. Things were going well until our bill came.
An automatic gratuity was added of approximately 14.5%… For a party of 2. I asked if this was something new that happened when redeeming groupons… She said adding gratuity was something she could do at her own discretion. I wasn’t aware that you were allowed to tip yourself. Way to go. We are never coming back… and we would have tipped you a lot better than that, especially since we got a discount.

My bf & I came here with a groupon. I now know why they needed to advertise/​coupon with them…
–service was horrible. There were only a few of us in the place & yet we waited 15mins to flag someone down.
–food was not worth prices. I ordered chicken parm & it was burnt on the outsides & chewy in the middle. My bf got the lasagna & had to send it back because it was frozen in the middle.
–we also had to ask for bread & water
Don’t waste your money… Or groupon.

I was initially tentative about trying Pizzeria Guido, due to some of the reviews here on Unilocal,but finally ended up going there on a Groupon, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I think they are really good!
They bill themselves as a «wine bar», and the atmosphere was a nice cross between that, a pub, and a pizzeria. Very casual and relaxing. We received great and very friendly service, as well. This would be a good spot for almost any occasion… family dinner, date night, meeting up with friends, or even a solo glass of wine. It’s very comfortable.
The pizza was very good. I enjoyed the crust. My only regret was that the basil was skimpy for a margherita… just one little leaf per slice, and they cooked it with the pizza… I prefer the basil raw and added after baking. Nevertheless, it was a good pizza just the same! We had the regular size pizza as one of two entrees that we were sharing, and it is a perfect size entrée pizza. They also offer a small, but I can’t imagine how small it must be, unless you were ordering it as an appetizer portion for one person.
We also got the vegetarian lasagna… I am always nervous about ordering lasagna in restaurants because I can make a pretty good lasagna at home… however, this one was beyond reproach. The pasta was handmade, and they used a light touch with both the cheeses and the vegetables… for instance, the eggplant was shaved very thin, so that it was nice and tender. I thought it was great.
Had a nice glass of Sicilian red wine at a good price, and the dinner overall was both affordable and delicious! We will most certainly be back!

I have to agree with everyone here about the quality of food for the price. I have never been to Italy so I can’t judge on what real Italian foods should be like but overall, I liked that it was different from the standard pizza joint. They make sure that they stand out somehow from the standard pizza groups. Unfortunately, at a Firenze Ristorante cost.
I am giving it an extra star to make it 4 because the service was great and I thought it was a one time thing so I made sure I went 2 times on different years to make sure. Of course, I got the same waitress so that could be the factor. She was very attentive and always ready to assist. Quick and friendly service is always appreciated and added to my overall experience.
In Conclusion:

Décor felt good, clean, and consistent
Price was a bit high

I was nervous trying this resturant because it only got three stars total but I felt adventurous tonight.
Cute on the inside, clean at first sight and relatively busy.
Best part of the meal, the wine.
We ordered the Prosciutto pizza with added Italian sausage along with the Parmesan chicken.
I wish I would have taken a picture of the chicken before I sent it back. Imagine breaded chicken cooked 3 – 4 hours prior and then smothered in cheese, sauce and reheated. I took one bite it was chewy and not fresh at all. Back it went.
The prosciutto pizza was good, however the center of the pizza wasn’t coked all the way. Two or three bites in your happy but by the fourth your in soggy, doughy pizza.
The lack of care to the details was evident in the food and other small details. For instance, the bill folder that our bill was presented in had no plastic to hold the credit card. The folder itself was tearing in half and looked like it had dried food spilled on it. They had no coke/​soda options due to their machine being broken. Large plates were not offered so we were eating pizza off bread plates.
I think this place is in a GREAT location and has the ability to be fantastic if someone would just put a little more care back into details and the quality of food.
I really wanted to love this place. I guess my fears of the low ratings were justified and I should have left my adventurous needs to the outdoors.

Lunch was great. Pizza was perfect with crust that was crisp and sauce that was flavorful. Calamari great, a little light but yummy all the same. Shrimp App, OK not really my cup of tea. Just fried frozen shrimp, I think. Mancotti was good, Carbonara a little scrambled, Cesar salad way to over dressed saggy. Dessert… YUM! The only thing I’d imp would be the freshness of the profiteroles, but the ice cream dishes were fabulous.
It was empty for a Saturday lunch but the service was fabulous. I’d go again for the pizza alone.

So far I have been here close to 45 minutes and I believe they forgot my pizza. My two clues were the bus boy asking me if I wanted dessert after eating my salad and I said no I’m waiting for my pizza. Second clue was my waiter trying to hand me my bill and he asked me if I wanted anything else and I said yes, my magherita pizza.
My insalata mista was super oily and the are out of merlot.

Showed up just before 6pm on a Saturday night and it was almost empty. Uh oh, not a good sign I say. Maybe forget this Groupon deal…
Turns out to be a great dinner. Was going to go with the cannelloni but server convinced me to get the chicken parm — GREAT CHOICE! Perfect portion. The sauce really made this dish — very deep and rich.
Owners also run the place next door — Firenzi which has more upscale choices. Can’t wait to try it.

I came here only because I purchased the the Groupon deal — $ 15 for $ 30 worth of food.
First off, they charged a 20% gratuity… and I only had 3 people in my party. The service was def not worth an additional 20% tip. I only had one glass of water through my entire meal because the server never came back to fill my glass. This was surprising considering the place was pretty dead… there were only 2 other tables of 2 – 3 in there at the same time.
The food was just okay. We got the sausage/​pepperoni pizza and when it came out it was room temperature. The vegetarian lasagna and cannelloni were okay, a bit on the salty side.
The food prices are a little steep, considering the portion size.

Came here for dinner from a coworker’s recommendation and this place was really disappointing. It’s no wonder I see them on Groupon all the time now — they need the business. It was fairly empty on the Friday night we happened to find ourselves here.
Service wasn’t bad, but the food wasn’t anything to come back for and the pizza crust was a bit dry. The only plus is that it’s family friendly and the food comes out rather quickly. Actually the bigger plus is that you can walk inside Crossroads mall and get a great bubble tea for dessert after dinner. Unfortunately, that comes with a huge minus — you’ve found yourselves in Crossroads mall.

Our experience at Pizzaria Guido & Wine Bar was a HUGE let down. We had high hope for this place. Got a groupon to go visit this place after a recommendation from a couple of friends. We had not had pizza in a while so were really excited to give it a try. Ordered the Quattro Stagioni pizza, a Calzone Fiorentino, and a mix green salad.
All the food items came out SUPER salty!!! We were so hungry but we couldn’t get more than 4 bites in from each plate. It was awful! The pizza was also too moist in the middle, feels as the prosciutto was still a bit cold — anyway, everything was just WAY too salty for us to even eat. And the free bread that came with the meal was served in a very dirty basket without the napkins under them — the bread was cold and stale also. We will not go back.

Wow horrible food and service.
I asked if they had gluten free pasta, which is no. Then I asked about their two chicken dinner specials and in both the chicken was breaded so I asked if they could do it without the bread, which they could…
The $ 18.50 Chicken Parmesan came out un-​breaded like I asked, but it was way overcooked like chicken jerky and the thin piece of chicken was really small. It was the size of a chicken cutlet that was pounded flat, not even a chicken breast sized piece. The only other thing on the plate was a small side salad which was good, but for almost $ 20 the portions should have been bigger and the chicken not overcooked.
The waiter didn’t even come back to check on us even though there were only 2 other tables with customers!
So a resounding Yuck for this place!
