The Regent At Bellevue Way

I’ve just signed another year lease and I wanted to tell prospective residents what a great apartment complex this is. I’ve lived here for years and love it! The interiors are beautiful, high ceilings, spacious rooms, quiet and well maintained. The management is great and if you have any kind of problem they’re «right on it». I’m familiar with most of the apartments in Bellevue and I would rate this complex as one of the very best. And, you have your own entrance! no long hallways. Good luck!

Don’t do it!
My husband and I rented a townhouse here for a year. They would not let us see the actual townhouse before we signed the lease (which we understood, someone was living there) but the manager assured us «don’t worry, you’ll love it!» Ok, but you don’t know me at all, you don’t know what I am going to love. The floor plan was totally different, not open and super dark.
The management was awful to deal with. We had 2 decks and they failed to mention construction would begin on those decks shortly after we moved in. No updates on the construction were given, no completion dates, etc. and anytime we would inquire the manager just did the «oh yeah, sorry» thing to get us out the door.
When construction was finished and the giant sheets of plastic were taken down no one gave us the all clear to use our decks so we just did. About a few months later management parked a dumpster in front of our garage saying they had no where else to put it.
Our cars were broken into while we lived here. We alerted management but they didn’t post anything about the prowlers, so we informed our neighbors to be extra careful.
The best part was when we bought a home and they were called because we were past residents and they made the mistake of saying we paid rent late (which we NEVER did) and our banker called us, we called them and they couldn’t explain why that information was given when it was not accurate. They said they’d provide us with paperwork stating we never paid late and would fix it. We never heard from them again.
For the money you spend to live here, you’d at least expect exceptional service. All it really is is new handles and pulls on old repainted cabinets, giant spiders coming out of the wood work (seriously huge) horrible service with a killer location.

Tons of headache with management, poor quality building (can hear everything). Only thing this place had going for it is location and price.

Be very very careful in all formalities. Don’t trust them.
PROS:
+ Location — quite place, not far from Bellevue downtown, from Kirkland and Redmond. 2 minutes away from WA-​520 and I-​90 cross, bus stop nearby as well as playground and QFC.
+ Apartments are quite spacious.
+ Ken, who works there is very kind and positive man, opposite to the property manager (who’s not there anymore, as I heard)
CONS:
— Thin walls. Pray that your neighbors are quiet.
— Prepare for move-​out BATTLE and be ready to argue about extra charges, not mentioned in the contract.
A bit more details about the last point. When I handed the keys to a representative at move out I asked to come and do a move out check together, so we both sign it and are happy with the apartment condition (which was really the same as we got it). However the reply was that I am free to leave and they would check it later and everything would be fine.
Surprisingly, after more than a month (!) I got a letter claiming that I owe them many dollars for dirty carpet etc. etc.
The funny thing is that the manager was so unprofessional that he tried to charge me, but was not following WA leasing rules. When we moved in, I reminded the manager several times to provide us with move-​in checklist, but never got it. That was strange, but at the end of the day it made worse for them — they has no legal reason to take the deposit.
Be very careful, as they may give you an apartment, which was not renovated for many years, and then try to renovate it at your expense. If you get a move-​in form, be attentive enough to write any single stain, scratch etc. there (and probably you’ll find a lot :)

I stayed here for a year and while I had a few grievances with the Property Management transition, Ken went so far out of his way to help me I’m surprised his sanity stayed in tact. From the second I met him he was insistent on prodding me to put in work orders and to voice anything that was out of place. I have lived in 4 complexes in the past ten years and have never met a more engaging and personable Property Manager. I would have stayed another year without question but I bought a house so my renting days are done. That said, if you are looking for someone who understands the passion of pleasing tenants and creating a comfortable and positive living situation talk to Ken. He’s the best in the business bar-​effing-​none.

I absolutely agree with every negative review on here. There are many issues with the apartment itself including horrible spray painting, loose carpeting, lose screws and hinges on most cabinets and any kind of handle, and just nigger-​rigged everything. Don’t bother submitting a maintenance request either, it will be half-​ass fixed where you are better off fixing whatever it is yourself, or outright ignored!!! Like has been said by many other Unilocaler residents, Breigh Testa the complex manager is an absolute crab, rude, fake, disagreeable, and her way of making up for any kind of problem is to say to call anytime for free carpet-​cleaning or some other kind of bribe instead of rectifying the problem at hand. I have had a witch of a landlord before, but this woman is by far the worst and the most slimy one I have ever had to deal with. Save yourself major frustration by taking your money elsewhere. For Bellevue, this is a rip-​off and joke of a complex.

The building itself is fine (nothing praise-​worthy) but it’s the «management» that is terrible. More specifically, a woman named Breigh Testa — who is in charge of the place. For someone who is supposed to exude a spirit of customer service, she instead is always crotchety and unpleasant. What’s worse, she doesn’t do anything except make excuses for her lack of problem-​solving. If you send her an email with a complaint, don’t expect anything to get resolved! If there’s an issue with their payment system, you better have the foresight to address it with them or you’ll get a late fee! If you have an expensive package arriving to their office, you better pay for insurance because those clowns in there won’t let you know when anything has arrived! This place is a disaster and it is because of it’s leadership, or lack thereof.

I would strongly suggest considering another place to live. The apartments were fine as far as we were concerned, and although you just get one parking space, there are others available. In addition, the helpers in the front office and the maintenance folks were nice and as helpful as they could be. The apartment was NOT clean when we moved in and we spent two days cleaning before we felt comfortable enough to move in, but we have kind of high standards there.
The big issue here is the apartment manager and the company that owns the property. I was at a party recently and by chance three of us had lived at the Regent in Bellevue and all three had the exact same experience with the «manager». Completely rude, lied to all of us and caused high levels of stress and financial impact. I thought our experience was isolated, but not true. Regardless of how nice living there was or was not, dealing with «Manager B» was not worth it. I’ve never been lied to so directly before without a moment of regret or remorse on her part. The company backed her 100%. Just not worth the stress.
The place has promise — and I would live there again if the management were more honest and friendly. All in all, other than that our family had a good (though short) stay.

I’ve lived at the Regent for a year. Like most of the reviews have stated, some folks in the office are rude with that nose up attitude. But what can you do, its Bellevue.
Had a neighbor throw all of her cigarettes and trash everywhere outside for a few weeks. I made multiple complaints and nothing was done. Finally walked up to the office and found the one guy who actually does his job up there and he took care of things. The maintenance folks are awesome however.

We lived at the Regent for 4 years and loved it. Its a very quite and convenient location. We lived in the loft style apartment and just loved the floor plan. It was spacious and the high ceilings were my favorite. Its steps away from QFC and very close to Bellevue Square Mall. Another plus is all the freeways were minutes away. The management and maintenance staff were wonderful especially Breigh. She’s a delightful person who made sure things were taken care of when needed, will miss her dearly. If we ever had any maintenance issues they were taken care of right away. Parking was never an issue for our extra vehicle and for guests. If we didn’t need a bigger place we never would have moved. I highly recommend The Regent if you’re looking for a place to rent.

In response to the reply from management, I’m not going to argue with you and we were very misled. Obviously this deposit issue is a real problem for you all because multiple other reviews reference the same thing.
Renters beware!!!

Although the info in my last post is true, unfortunately our move out experience was extremely poor and this rating needs to be updated as a result. They take a non-​refunable deposit as well as refundable deposit, $ 250 each. We were told multiple times, upon move-​in and move-​out that we would get the non-​refundable deposit back. Upon move out we extensively cleaned the place, and were told we would receive our deposit back in a few weeks. Great. Well, a few weeks later we get a letter saying we wouldn’t be getting our deposit back. Some of the charges were totally bogus, and amazingly they all equalled $ 250 exactly. I wrote back and said the non-​refunable deposit should cover all their «charges», so I still expect to get back my deposit as promised, but again they refused. Obviously they are not honest and never had any intention of giving back our deposit, renters beware!

The apartments at the Regent are bigger than most in the Bellevue downtown area. The location is great, it’s about 3 mins away from downtown. That’s all the pros. Cons: the designer style kitchen/​cabinets they so much advertise are cheaply painted with all the hair, fuzz and dust still on them. There was construction on our balcony going on for 3 months, drilling, hammering and all the fun noises. All we got from management is ‘sorry’. Every time we renewed the lease it would increase (where is the logic of trying to keep your tenants?). We had a few noisy neighbors, we could hear TV and music from above; even when someone takes a shower it is VERY loud! I knew that my neighbors shower at 11pm every night, even though I never met them. The management did not seem to care about the issues we had. They messed up a few things in our paperwork and asked for additional papers and signatures like they did not know what they were doing. The ‘best’ gift we got from them is a check with our supposedly refundable deposit after we moved out. There was no explanation whatsoever on what we were charged and why. We paid $ 500 security deposit and $ 400 pet deposit at the move in, we got back less than $ 300. I spent two days cleaning the apartment, it looked better than it was when we moved in. Dear Regent — I hope you use our $ 600 that you took from us wisely. I am very happy now that we moved out.

We relocated from the Bay Area, CA to WA in September and had toured 3 rental properties in Bellevue in October before deciding on The Regent. Breigh, the property manager, was courteous enough to show us the actual unit that we would be moving into before we signed the lease so there wouldn’t be any surprises later. She understood that we were crunched for time since we had to move out of our temporary housing within a couple of weeks and had the unit ready for us within a week. Our timing could not have been more perfect because they were doing a special move-​in promotion. Not only was our security deposit waived but we also received a $ 300 visa gift card!
Our unit is a 2 bedroom 2.5 bath town home and it is very spacious, with a semi-​private patio downstairs as well as an attached balcony leading out of the master bedroom upstairs. The bathroom and kitchen floors are made of faux wood which makes cleaning easy. All the appliances in the kitchen are stainless steel. The living room and bedrooms have big windows and the upstairs landing has a skylight. All the rooms are spacious. Our daughter’s room is big enough for a full size bed, a big bookshelf, a 3 shelf toy stand, a kitchen play set, and more. Our master bedroom is big enough for a king size bed, a huge dresser, a night stand, a computer table and we still have enough room for me to lay down my mat and do yoga. Our laundry room is small with a stackable washer dryer and not much room for storage, but where we used to live we had to do laundry in a common area so I’m fine with this. I do wish we had a coat closet though.
The entire office staff and maintenance staff are very friendly and helpful. Any time I call with a question or concern they do their best to follow through. Maintenance requests are taken care of promptly. The office staff remembers me by name every time I drop in for something. They collect your UPS and FedEx packages for you if you’re not home and send you an email letting you know that a package is waiting for you. They send you reminder emails when rent is due and you can pay using their online portal which is really convenient. They throw community parties for tenants and pets too! You get all the bells and whistles at this place. Business center with wifi, 24 hour gym, swimming pool, etc.
Location is unbeatable. A mile away from downtown Bellevue. Easy access to 520 and 405. And if you have kids, you can drop them off at Adventure Kids Playcare right down the road, Natural Start Preschool is a mile away off of 24^th St, and the highly sought after Clyde Hill Elementary is the district school your child can go to with the school bus stop conveniently located right outside The Regent.

Nice place with big apartments, and plenty of parking. Maintenance is quite prompt too. The place is raising its prices and getting very expensive. The walls are quite thin and you can hear people walking above you and the neighbors as well. You can hear people showering as the water goes on, or if someone is listening to loud music.
The staff are ok and keep to the book. They do not have any additional bike stands and charge extra for additional storage.
It’s on the bus line and very close to SR 520 and to S Kirkland P&R.

The apartment are ok, but the staff in the leasing office are rude, unprofessional and do not accommodate even minor requests. Refusing to assist residents (or their family) beyond the limits their policy shows a lack of commitment to customer service.

The Regent Apartments are great! They are all newly remodeled and very quiet and clean. I moved in a few months ago and couldn’t pick a better place not to mention the location is great!
