The Talon Group

The Talon group was Title and Escrow in my refi transaction. First, they for some reason could not «find» a reconveyance doc from the previous lender for 3 weeks after it has already been recorded in King County. I had to find it for them myself and it took like 5 minutes using county online doc search. However, the delay caused me to pay the lock extension fee to the new lender, which the Talon Group promised to refund. I even got it in writing signed by Mr. Tim Daniels (Vice President of the Talon Group). And then I just did not receive the refund as was promised. Mr. Daniels never arguied anything about it, just kept promising the check. When it was 30 days past due I had to escalate to the State Insurance Commissioner. This did the trick, and a few weeks later I finally received the refund. Needless to say, I will never again do business with the Talon Group (now FATIC) or the First American Title Insurance Company, which they are now part of.

I refinanced about a year ago and the broker used them as escrow company. Granted mine was not a straightforward case, with my mother on the deed and needing to do a quit claim to get her off. To top it off she is in another state on the east coast. However, the one person that I was dealing with lost an important document that my elderly mother had signed and sent to them, we subsequently had to have my mother sign another one and resend it, delaying the close. To their credit they payed for the additional closing cost associated with the delay.
Later I found that my home equity line of credit had not be closed as was supposed to be standard procedure. Also, I just received my home owners insurance and my mothers name is still on that leaving me with the task of faxing all the pertinent info to Pemco to get her off (I believe this was also their responsibility).

The Talon Group is my preferred title and escrow service provider. I know I can rely on them to produce accurate and quick title reports. If there’s ever an issue or I need more information, their title department has answers. I also appreciate working with their escrow division which has offices throughout the Puget Sound region to accomodate my client’s when it’s time to sign papers for their mortgage.
