OK, so I am super bummed to write this… As it turns out, there wasn’t enough solution applied evenly to my hair and there are sections that dry completely different from one another, i.e. the right side dries straight, the left side dries wavy. Now, I have never had this done before, but have asked around — it’s NOT supposed to be like this. I was all set to get a touch up/re-do done and was more than happy with that solution by TGUK! Here’s where it gets fucked up: I requested directions the night before my appt to the mgr — they moved from Bellevue to Bothell for rent reasons. I didn’t hear anything, but figured I would figure it out and headed out for my appt. The FB page is updated with an address, but no suite no. The address is for the Bartells/QFC complex on Bothell Everett Hwy. Ok, found the complex, but was having a hard time finding TGUK. I called the mgr, followed with another text and then a second telephone call before she finally answered… «I was just about to call you.» What the fuck? Not only are you a no show for our scheduled appt, but I had to track you down, finally after me sitting in the fucking parking lot for 45 minutes? Seriously? I got out and trolled around until I found the suite, they are in some other hair salon, renting space — there is no sign. My appt was on a very windy day, with power outages. The mgr. couldn’t get out of her garage. Nice. Wouldn’t it have been prudent for her to call me about 30 min before our appt time, when she should have been leaving to meet me? I live in downtown Seattle, and Bothell isn’t just a trip down the street. I have an 8 month old, 2 hours outta my day is a big fucking deal. The mgr. was supposed to call me once she made it out of her garage to reschedule, apparently she’s still stuck in there because it’s 2 weeks later and I haven’t heard boo. I emailed the owner twice, requesting some interference, and zip. zilch. nada. What the fuck? The icing on the cake? They overcharged me by about $ 25. Considering I can’t get a hold of anyone, I had to take it up with my credit card. Awesome — just another thing I don’t have time for. It’s not a deal if I am over charged and then fucked over on gas, energy and time away from my family. I really like Allie, I was geeked about her. So she didn’t put enough keratin on the first time, BFD — I was ready to see her again. So, Allie, if you are reading this, message me! Again, I am really sad to write this. I do feel I need to warn other folks what a complete cluster fuck this place is.

I redeemed a groupon here today for a Brazilian style blowout. The salon is located within Sola Salon in Bellevue. There is abundant parking below the building and you’re allowed 3 hours to park there. When I arrived at the salon, Joy was the only one there and she greeted me promptly. She got started right away by putting the treatment in my hair. I wasn’t aware it was a Brazilian style blowout and was pleasantly surprised when I could smell chocolate. That was the fragrance of the solution. Joy isn’t much of a talker which is fine so she just went right to work. After letting the solution sit in my hair for 30 mins, she blow-dried, flat ironed and trimmed my hair. Overall took 1 hour and 30mins. My hair turned out silky smooth and much healthier looking. I’m not allowed to wet or tie my hair up for 72 hours– different from the original Brazilian blowout where you can do both immediately. I wasn’t wowed by the service or anything, just pretty mediocre. At the end, Joy called me by the wrong name, but hey no ones perfect. The place didn’t seem stellar clean either. There was some rusting/gunk in one if her metal holding trays above her blow dryer. So overall, I got the services I needed done at half the price. Not sure if I’ll be back.

Beware! I went here based on Unilocal reviews, back in July. I had emailed with Jamie several times prior to my appointment to clarify my needs and situation(due to health issues, I’d lost a lot of hair about six months prior and wanted extensions for thickness — and with ombré coloring). She was very professional, and assured me all would be well and that they had plenty of colors of hair in stock, as well as stylists who knew how to get an ombré look. I went ahead and scheduled, excited for the change as well as saving a buck at what seemed a very good salon. When I arrived for my appointment, I found out it was with Joy(who was unaware of the prior conversation) and she was the only person in the salon. When I asked her if anyone else worked there, since she was not only confused on what ombré was but couldn’t answer many of my questions, she told me no. I don’t know if she misunderstood or what, but other people *do* work there at different times. Whatever. I was in the chair and trusted her enough to proceed, given that she told me my hair was strong enough for extensions and it would turn out well. Once she pulled the hair out, there were really very few choices. Nothing matched my own color and none of the fun colors I’d requested for ombré(or anything similar) were to be found. The best option of what was there was an off-shade of brown base and random streaks of very faded red that she called pink(it was not pink). The application process took maybe an hour-ish and wasn’t too bad, but the end result was a bit shocking. She did not cut the hair or color-match at all, so I looked like a Barbie some kid had tortured with scissors… and the color was just very unappealing. I asked her if she was going to do a haircut and she told me I was done, so I just made a mental note that I’d have to go elsewhere ASAP to get a cut and color. On my way out, I asked if there were any specific instructions for care and she shrugged and told me to avoid sulfate products but do everything else normally. I quickly found out that was not the most helpful advice ever, but I’ll get to that. A few days later, I went to another salon to get a haircut and coloring. The stylists there were pretty surprised at my extensions and told me it had not been applied very well. Apparently the bonds were all very long(i.e.: visible) and close together. They also seemed surprised that I was sent out the door as I was, and noted that most salons give a proper cut before leaving and match color. Oh well. Several hundred dollars later, and I at least looked human again(thanks to the other salon). They also told me some more useful tips for caring for the new hair and advised a few products. Over the next two months, the hair quickly morphed into a frizzy mess. I had spent a LOT of money on product to make sure it was getting enough conditioning, oils, special shampoos, etc., but still it looked like a rat’s nest most of the time and required a lot of retouching throughout the day. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it. When I went to yet another salon, to have it removed, they told me — again — that the bonds were long and too close together(encouraging knotting and frizzing) and that it could look a lot better. Apparently most extensions are applied in a row, but mine were applied somewhat randomly and did not allow enough spacing. I also probably should have had a different type of extension altogether, given my fine hair and concern about thinning, but TGUK only offers one type and did not mention this during any consult. Once the extensions were removed, I’d shed quite a bit of my own hair. They told me I definitely needed a treatment and special regrowth products($$$) to help with some of the damage. I should also note that the extensions themselves shed more than I thought they would over those couple of months — and two entire extensions fell out on their own. My hair is left very fine, pretty damaged and now I’m thinking if I ever get extensions again it will be a different type and definitely done elsewhere. You may save a bit of cash with the application at TGUK but in my experience, you’ll more than make up the difference in required after-care(cut, color, product, removal, treatment). It was not worth it. UPDATE: The feedback provided by the former owner below are in part COMPLETELYFALSE and in part exaggerated. She lacks professionalism. I could have said even worse in my review — or POSTEDPHOTOSWHICHCLEARLYSHOWEDTHESHODDYWORK — but I stuck to the basic facts. I cannot say the same for Jaimie.

I love feeling beautiful(what girl doesn’t??) but I don’t have thousands to blow on beauty. I came across TGUK on Craigslist and did some research. Full head of extensions for under $ 200? Too good to be true, right? WRONG! I made an appointment and met with Joy — she was fantastic. She was sweet, fast, and my hair looks amazing! Colleagues and friends at work commented on how great my new«haircut» looked… asking what I did? The extensions look so natural and she blended them so well, no one can tell that they are not real! What a find! I will be going back here for sure!

This place is awesome! I emailed Jamie on Friday and was able to get an appointment for Saturday afternoon. I have short layerd hair and was worried that you would be able to tell I had extensions. Jamie did a great job! I got the 18 inch extensions which took about an hour to put in. She did an awesome job color matching and blending the extensions to match my own hair. As for the price? What can I say? 295.00 for the quality of the service I recieved is an awesome deal. I will def. be going back. Thanks Jamie for making my hair beautiful!
