I’ve had a bunch of Dental work done by Dr. Vanderhoeff and his work has been excellent. He knows his craft.

I used to be a great dental patient but over the years I have become a worse and worse (kind of like my driving) dental patient due to anxiety when having peoples hand in my mouth. I have been going to Dr. VanDerhoeff for over two years now and everyone is very nice, professional and I feel very comfortable with him and his staff working on my teeth. I recommend Main Street Dental to anyone who is looking at creating a long term dental relationship in the area.

Another dentist told me I didn’t get appropriate cleaning after I got it at Main Street Dental.
My filling fell out, and I got a new filling at Main Street Dental. I had no pain before, but now, I do. They estimated 112 dollars from my pocket after the insurance deduction, but they charged 110 dollars more. (222 dollars in total)
I don’t recommend Main Street Dental.

I found Main Street Dental about 1.5−2 years ago after hopping around to various dentists (and not liking them) — I’ve finally found a good one! Dr. VanderHoef and the dental hygienists are always very pleasant, friendly, they get me in and out quickly. It is a small office and it reminds me of a small town dental office, which is hard to find especially in Bellevue. They never pressure me for services that I feel like I don’t need. I refer all my coworkers, family members, friends to Main Street Dental — definitely check them out if you are in the market for a good dentist.

Unfortunately Dr. Hirsh is no longer there, the new doctor is a Bellevue kid which has no clue literally straight out of school. Apparently they got rid of all the old staff and the new people is not very good. From a rude dentist to a igenist that was pushing on buying an electric toothbrush.

Moved to Bellevue from Seattle and picked this dentist from Unilocal reviews, had a first appt and decided wasnt for me. Nothing disasterous, but the experience wasnt what i was used to in seattle. no where close.
The positives: The dentist himself.
The Doctor actually did the cleaning and was very knowledgeable (obviously), courteous and patient. The bright star in the whole experience is the critical one.
The negatives: The support staff & Technology.
Booking an appt here was very «bellevue». Cash-​focused than experience focused. They wanted to do xrays even before they met me, the person on the phone was a bit technology challenged, i felt quite rude Which again compared to my Seattle dentist was very off-​putting.
Part of the initial docs is the paragraph about how i have to pay money if I am late to an appt by 30 mins. Not that i plan on being late for doctor’s appt, but seriously that is just rude and money swindling tactic that leaves a very bad taste in your mouth. And ofcourse i was left waiting 20 mins — what my time is not important, but yours is? No apologies nothing, either. RUDE!
The technology was also quite dated and did not have the quality i was used to.
There is no tv, music or other choices to get your mind off the dentist place like i was used to.
The hygenist/​dental asst wasnt any better and was the most rude of them all, which was the real reason i wont go here again. She had a condescending tone when i said my previous dentist had done the xrays earlier the yr and emailed me xrays to use here, she gives me a website address and didnt know the diff between a website than an email address, and even said things that made it seem like she thought i was the outdated one. No offer for a numbing mouthwash for the clean and worst of it all — making me hold the damn suction tube so i can suck on it after each mouth rinse. Seriously? That is my job? That was a first ever.
I seriously believe with a better support staff the dentist could havea great practice; but i am not going back here.

Our family have been using Main Street Dental, just because it is so close to our place, but I got another great reason to keep going there. They recently got a new doctor (I believe his name is «VanDerhoef») and an RDH (Her first name is «Miho» if I remember right). They are both a lot younger than previous staff, but turned out to be excellent professionals.
My wife and I recently had a chance to have a treatment by them (my wife got cavity to fill, and I got gum issue which need to be deep-​clean), and both of them were a lot more thorougher, a lot more careful, and nicer than the previous team. It is great to have such a good «dental team» in our community. I had always hesitated to go dental treatment, but not anymore. I can highly recommend this place with confidence now.

Not sure how this place got good reviews. Cash incentives maybe? The front desk person was SO RUDE and so unwilling to even check prices for me that I ended up going somewhere else. Too bad, could have gotten a nice review and my money.

I moved to the US from China around 1.5 years ago and have always had dental problems. I had some emergency work done in China, but my teeth were still a mess and I was very self conscious about them. I was also very scared of visiting the dentist but I really wanted to get my teeth fixed so I chose Main Street Dental based on the Unilocal reviews .
I saw Dr. VanDerhoef and had a great experience. He was really patient with me and explained everything he was going to do, and was also very honest about what dental work needed to be done now, what could be done in the near future, and what didn’t necessarily have to be done at all. I ended up having to go in six times, but each time it was painless and I felt very comfortable, even though I was nervous beforehand. He also called me after my first few appointments to make sure everything was ok, I guess he could tell how nervous I was. I thought that was a really nice touch!
I highly recommend Dr. VanDerhoef!

Been to see the new dentist here a couple times now (Chris VanDerhoef). Top notch. Very professional. Very good at answering questions. Evaluated me better than prior dentists have with more detail with his findings on gum recession, bite issues relating to jaw soreness that he addressed, etc. Could not be happier. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a new dentist in Bellevue that you give him a try.

Okay, I seriously hate going to the dentist. I have sensitive teeth and it freaking hurts. However, Dr. Vanderhoef is a wonderful dentist. Caring, considerate, and patient. The hygenists are awesome too. And, they didn’t find random cavities just to fill them for $$ (yes, I’ve had this happen several times at other dental establishments!). Plus, they are on my dental plan. Serious score!

I live in Ballard and could not find a dentist with a good review in the greater Seattle area who was on my insurance so I drove to Main Street Dental.
I hate going to the dentist… I’m terrified of the drill, the scraping gives me the willies, and I get so nervous my palms sweat. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised. They use a water pik-​thingy (technical term!) prior to scrapin plaque to lessen the need to scrape. It was quick, painless, and I was in and out in no time flat. Both the dentist and the dental assistant were great!

I thank my lucky stars that I found Dr. Hirsch.
I originally was introduced to him by my a friend, then I started to take my grandparents. My grandmother doesn’t have the greatest teeth, nor is she an easy patient to deal with since she can’t speak English and I have to translate for her each time, but Dr. Hirsch is always so patient, and caring is the right word. It’s hard to find an honest and genuinely nice dentist like this.
He’s not aggressive in pushing to have procedures done, and gives an honest assessment of what needs to be done, or can wait and watch. He’s very experienced. In addition, their front staff (PJ and another woman) are very pleasant and accommodating.
The location is great — on Main Street in downtown Bellevue, plus there is plenty of parking. The dental offices are clean and comfortable and warm feeling — unlike some places that feel like a cold hospital like setting.
In summary, if you are looking for a dentist in Bellevue, he’s the best. (I’ve been to 3 others in Bellevue so I have experience)

The dentist is pretty universally considered a horrifying experience. I hadn’t been in an embarrassing amount of years, but I’ve been twice in the last week and I’m really glad I picked this place.
For both appointments, I had Kianna (not sure if I spelled that right) as my hygienist — a delightful lady! — and Dr. Styrlund as my dentist. They kept me giggling the whole time (even when my mouth was full of frightening equipment, which is a feat), and the only painful parts were performed perfunctorily and with sympathy.
They only found one little cavity and I came back in this morning to have it filled, and had a chance to talk with Dr. Styrlund a bit more — he gave me sincere, honest advice (which didn’t involve buying anything from him) and he even sanded/​polished down a stain on my tooth impulsively for no extra charge. They’re really wonderful people here.
Both appointments had almost no waiting time, and the receptionist remembered my name the second time. Everyone here is lovely. I leave smiling.

There is no better dentist than Dr. Hirsch in the Puget Sound area. My husband has been a patient of Dr. Hirsch’s for over 25 years, and I have been his patient for around 10. Whether you have problem teeth or «average» teeth, he’s caring (without being pushy) and gentle (while very efficient).
On top of which he’s a great guy. As him about his food/​wine blog!

Can’t review the doctor because I never got past the desk staff. A close friend of mine recommened Dr. Hirsh, and I was trying to find a new dentist and get a cavity filled. I called on Sunday evening, and received a call back on Monday, which went to voicemail. I called the appointment desk back. No Answer. Called again, No answer. Called a total of four times, and finally left another message, stating that I had called a number of times and didn’t reach anyone (because maybe they needed to know — what if their phones weren’t working properly?).
Got a call back and talked to the admin. She was very defensive and short about not answering the phone, stating «We’ve been busy today and I don’t answer when I have someone standing here». Silly me — I always thought that the customer service rule for phones is ALWAYS answer the phone when someone is standing in front of you (even if to just put them on hold), because that in-​person person can clearly see you have a conflict, whereas the phone customer is left to assume you just don’t want their business.
Said admin promptly shuffled me off to another dental practice, saying that the doctor only accepts new patients for x-​rays and cleanings, not for emergencies like cavities (?). Seriously?

I highly recommend Main Street Dental.
I’ve had some bad experiences recently with dentists and I was hesitant to go back to a dentists that I didn’t feel was totally gouging me for things not covered by my insurance.
My fears were quickly put to rest as soon as I heard the doctor say «I don’t think you need that right now. Let’s just try this simple procedure and keep an eye on it.»
Their offices were clean and convenient for anyone who works in Bellevue.

Excellent dental care in a comfortable environment.
If you have a 10:00 appointment, they take you in at 10:00. In all the years I have been coming here, there have never been any delays.
I highly recommend Dr. Hirsch. He’s an interesting guy. Once right before Christmas I had a Williams-​Sonoma cookbook with me and I was contemplating a dessert for company that night involving persimmons. He noticed the cookbook and advised that I wouldn’t be able to locate ripe persimmons in time and to pick another dish. I appreciated him telling me that.
My hygienist Karen is absolutely great.

Finally, a dental office that doesn’t see me as a walking wallet, imagine my surprise when it’s a Bellevue office that treats me like a human not a car payment!
I went to see Dr. Hirsch for my first time today. I know and know he knows that I need a fair amount of work and maintenance and so forth.
I don’t have a lot of experience going to the dentist, as a kid we went for emergency visits only. My first cleaning wasn’t until my mid-20’s. I’m not a big fan of the dental chair, let me tell you!
So, I arrived early for my appointment, xrays in hand. The receptionist is super nice, she greets me with a big smile and makes me feel completely at ease. When it’s my turn to be called to the big chair, Dr. Hirsch introduces himself and leads me to a chair in an open room separated by a partition. I like that I’m not in some tiny room in the back corner of the building. He tells me this visit we’re only going to do a few xrays, he’s going to get to know my mouth (aka he’s going to poke around) and then we’re talk about my dental history and what he recommends.
I was delighted that the appointment was painless, I have a clear understanding of my most urgent dental issues, my 2^nd most urgent and things that can be left alone if I want. He explained how I have some neglect issues (I know that) and that it would be best that I don’t skip out on the 2 – 3 cleanings a year. In addition he explained the benefits of doing it and the consequences of not doing it.
This office did not pressure me nor did they did not make me feel uncomfortable that I could only have appointments first thing in the morning or last thing at night.
I’m very excited about this because at my last dental office, I was given a laundry list of things to do ASAP (including, root canals, extraction and braces) and an estimate that was thousands of dollars after my insurance paid it’s part. That was on my first and only visit to that office.
I have already scheduled my next appointment with Main Street Dental and as weird as it sounds, I’m kinda looking forward to it.
