Best Western Plus Lakeway Inn

I stayed here for my anniversary last year, we had booked for the third floor corner suite but were told we were going to be upgraded to a honeymoon suite next to the pool and spa tub. At first we thought we hit the jackpot with the room upgrade, so we unloaded our bags and rushed to get some dinner as we were just famished. Omg, the food was to die for at pope’s and the hot tub and pool were so clean and not too chlorinated. The rooms were very clean with lots of shelves and furnishings that came in very handy when we ordered room service later that evening. The bathroom looked like it had been polished to a glowing shine, they are pretty roomie too with larger tub/​shower than what I’ve had in other bham locations for a honeymoon suite. The beds were soft yet firm and the springs weren’t all worn out. The sheets and linens were very soft and comfy too. For its age I give it ten out of ten, but I must withhold one star for the smell from the pool that gave me a few bad asthma attacks that night. Next time I’ll have to insist they keep my booking for the third floor or get a refund unless they have fixed this ventilation problem since my last stay.

I had a last minute trip to Bellingham and used Priceline to bid on a hotel. I was pleasantly surprised at this beautiful hotel with a very spacious room. The front desk was helpful and polite and the room service was fast, efficient and very nice.
I had a full breakfast for only $ 9.00 and watched a movie for only $ 6.99. I liked that they had movie price options as well as a reasonably priced menu.
I needed to bring my dog, and was happy that the hotel allows them. No hassles.
I won’t bother bidding on Priceline in the future. When I’m in Bellingham I will definitely plan to stay here.
I didn’t have a chance to try out the pool, but the setting was beautiful and I noticed that some of the downstairs rooms opened up the this indoor pool.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Had another overnight business trip to Bellingham, and I’m afraid I have to drop a star from my original review. There was some kind of loud birthday pool party going on in the pool area until at least 10:00 pm, and because of the design of the hotel with all the rooms on balcony-​style hallways overlooking the pool, it was basically impossible to sleep until the festivities died down. Apparently this place is designed more for the playtime crowd than for the business traveler who has to get up at 5:00 to go to work.
Also, if I ever end up having to stay here again, I swear I’m bringing my own toilet paper. If I’m going to pay over $ 150 for a room, I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m wiping in a roadside rest area.

Alex was so incredibly helpful and professional. We showed up finding out our reservation (which was booked through a third party website) was in fact, made for another date. He worked with us and ended up being able to work with the third party website and get us in without much complication. I would rate ten stars if I could! Amazing customer service.

As a hotel it was decent for $ 80/​night. The room was clean and the bathrooms were updated (aside from the toilet). The tv was standard although the channels were slow to load, which is annoying but a first world problem at worst.
I made use of the gym which was basic but had an elliptical, treadmill, 2 bikes, and free weights up to 45lbs. The pool was connected to the hallway on the ground floor (which happened to be where we were staying), so it smelled a bit like chlorine but it’s not a deal breaker for me. I think the hotel is undergoing construction as there was a tarp on the ground.
The staff were friendly and helpful, but be forewarned, the free breakfast from checking in is no longer accepted. I would stay here again

My lack of stars has to do with the staff. I met with their sales department to reserve a block of rooms, a banquette hall and spa treatments for my wedding. I was told that the person who normally makes these arrangements was out for a week, nonetheless, all of my information was taken, I was told the availability was there and I was given a verbal quote for the blocked rooms for my guests, and was told when the person in charge of making these arrangements was back, they would contact me with a contract.
No one contacted me, so I called the hotel back only to be told that I could not block any rooms for the time that I was requesting. I can only assume that my information was lost and now someone else has rooms blacked.
I wrote an email to the general manager to explain my frustration. His response was to ask how fast can I round up my guests to make their reservations because he can try to free up some rooms… Thanks, but no thanks.
It was frustrating, and annoying and the staff seemed to not care, or be concerned that they let a guest slip through the cracks.

Had two rooms booked there. One of the older ones (pet friendly) and one of the newer remodeled rooms.
This hotel is freaking beautiful and the staff were amazing!
I would like to go back and stay again, when there isn’t construction going on.

Attended a retreat here and found it to be a great space. Open, clean, bright, well decorated lobby. Huge ballroom with a great sound system. Lobby area with tables, televisions and drink service. Plus there’s Poppe a connected bar with televisions and advertised events. This is a great newly remodeled hotel located conveniently just off the interstate.

Amazing staff, stayed for only one night and was able to leave or car to take our plane ride for so cheap! also, the free ride to the airport and pickup! Will be back, especially for the best security gaurd that totally made our trip amusing! 5 stars :)

Everytime I go up to see my mom we stay here, the rooms are very comfortable and everything is very secure and safe. We love the pool area, and there is a great restaurant that has a wonderful happy hour. The only thing that sucks it there is no free breakfast. we paid about 135 a night.

Nice hotel! Great guest services, rooms are nice and clean, and it is pretty quiet. The indoor pool kind of makes the place humid inside, but not too bad. Nice comfortable beds too! Restaurant is nice as well. The hotel is not super fancy or anything, but a very nice hotel nonetheless.

I intended to work at this hotel using their free high speed WiFi Internet access. The Internet access was almost unusably slow, high latency and intermittent either no connection or such long latency it appeared to be disconnected. It was unusable for accessing my corporate network. A hotel which advertises itself as a 3 star hotel should provide high quality Internet access.
I also wanted to check in early so I could work. The desk star person treated me like that was a completely unreasonable request and NO I would not be able to checkin before the standard time of 3:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon. I have never had an experience where the hotel staff did not do whatever they could to find me the earliest possible room for checkin.
The hotel was in the middle of a major reconstruction of the downstairs libby and restaurant area leaving the area very unappealing.
The hotel carpet, walls, painting etc. were old and discolored. Not at all consistent with a 3 star rating.

Conveniently located just off the I-​5, at the Lakeway Dr. exit, the Lakeway Inn is right next to a Fred Meyers supermarket. It’s an easy drive to the Bellingham waterfront. Rooms are comfortable, as are the beds. The window is smallish, and don’t let in a lot of light, but they are able to open a few inches. The staff are friendly and helpful. The pool and spa are located inside the building, in a high, expansive space. There is not a pervasive chlorine smell. Television channels are somewhat limited. There is no Food channel. Breakfast is warm, and served to guests. Eggs are done to order, and the oatmeal is good. Outstanding features are that they use cloth napkins, and offer a good assortment of herbal teas.

We stayed at many Best Westerns over the years… but this place was definitely one of the worst we’ve seen.
Our so called «suite» was very sad and depressing. It was dark (one of the interior rooms) with almost no decorations on the wall or tables.
The furniture was CHEAP… The fold out couch collapsed in when we sat down. We took it apart and discovered it was broken and someone had put wooden blocks in it for a temporary fix that obviously didn’t work. The chair had cushions that didn’t even match the base of the chair. I opened up the top two drawers of the dresser to fill it with clothes and the entire dresser started to fall over onto me.
Definitely not worth the extra $$$$.
The only two stars are for housekeeping. They were very kind and thorough…
Also… beware of the psycho drivers, from the Fred Meyer next door, cutting through the parking lot. Be very careful when you attempt to leave the front entrance.

I Checked out Hotels in Bellingham to see which had the highest star level
It was this one (3 star hotel) I checked the list price and it was $ 129
I bid 79.00 on Priceline and it was accepted.
We arrived and were greeted by Carlie. She was super friendly and helpful.
It was a king-​size room that was booked, but she let us check out that room as well as one with 2 queen beds. We took that one. It also had free parking and WiFI.
The room was nice — recently renovated.

All in all it wasn’t bad — not the 5, star or even 4 star I’m used to but it was clean decent & affordable.

So. Good. This place is awesome! Stayed here for two nights this week, and I haven’t slept that good on a hotel bed in some time. They have a workout room, pool, kids pool, jacuzzi and sauna, and it’s all inside. RIGHT off if I5, close to a few restaurants and just super nice staff. Really happy with our stay there!

Bed was comfy, pool side view was a little noisy but calms down when they close the pool at 9pm. The room was ok. There was a syrup type drip down the wall and there were 2 Guinness beer bottles left under one of our queen beds (nice find kids). For the price they charge people to stay here I was a little disappointed that the cleaning staff doesn’t know how to check under a bed.

Clean, comfortable, and spacious rooms at this (almost) downtown Bellingham hotel.
The Lakeway Inn was one of the nicest places I’ve stayed at in quite some time. They must have recently completed a remodel or something, because everything in the place, and especially in the rooms, was squeaky-​clean and seemed to be almost new. From the luxuriously plush king size bed to the wall mounted HDTV, this place was definitely above average as far as mid-​range motels go.
The staff here were friendly and professional, there’s an indoor pool and jacuzzi area, a huge ornamental fountain greets guests in the lobby, a café is located just off the lobby, and there’s a bar/​restaurant here too. Once again– nice place! I also like that it’s conveniently located next door to a Fred Meyer store and only a short walk from downtown.
The only real gripe I had about my stay here is that at most Best Westerns, including the other one in Bellingham, a breakfast buffet is included with a nights’ stay. No such luck at the Lakeway Inn– they want you to buy a meal at their Oboe Café instead. Which I did, and it wasn’t bad, but it was over $ 10 for an order of biscuits & gravy with a coffee.

Took a quick trip to Bellingham and wanted to stay at the Best Western Heritage Inn. Unfortunately they were fully booked, so we decided to try the Best Western Lakeway Inn. It was a bit more expensive and you don’t get a continental breakfast like you do at the Heritage inn. The Lakeway Inn is a reasonably nice hotel though. The little restaurant downstairs has a good breakfast and the staff were all pleasant for the most part… With the exception of the cleaning staff, who we could hear swearing and shouting at each other while they cleaned the rooms in the morning. I’m not one who is easily offended, but I do think that sort of display is unacceptable especially since there were children near by.
Room Tip: If you want quiet, avoid booking one of the rooms that overlook the pool.

Have you ever wanted to take the bed with you when you left a hotel?
This BW shows it’s age in some ways. Smile lines, grey hairs… No, but a slumpy couch and rickety desk chair did not take away from the memory of (a) that amaaazing matress and (b) The very accommodating server in the café.
The breakfast is included with your night stay but because I’m gluten & dairy intolerant I brought my own. I hardly needed to. I ordered a poached egg, (on my Udi’s toast) and ate a bit of bacon too. They even had Soy for the coffee (and my T’J’s gf cereal).
We didn’t have any issues with wireless at all, it came in good and strong for us.
I’m not nuts about facing a swimming pool, but fortunately for us, it being a Sunday night, there were no early rising children screaming or jumping in the water. The room was quiet as could be & we slept like vampires in daytime.
We may stay there again next trip.
