Oishii Teriyaki & Rolls

If you’re white and like sushi this is the place for you! Clean and friendly service. Not very authentic, but tailored to the sensible tastes of the sophisticated urban white folk.

A little on the expensive side, this used to be my family’s treat when we had extra cash. The chicken teriyaki isn’t too sweet and is nice tender meat, the potstickers are fantastic and the service is always very very polite.
I have never personally had their sushi, but hear nothing but good things.

I frequent sushi and teriyaki restaurants often since teriyaki and sushi are one of my top favorite foods to go out to eat. Being from Vegas I was lucky enough to find this hidden gem in little Bellingham, WA during my travels. The sushi is top notch and the staff are so friendly and sweet. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to eat some delicious food!

I love the beef teriyaki here it hits the spot! I always do pick up for lunch and they are super friendly! Never been disappointed!

Food is ok but the service is lacking. Also, they charge for extra ginger and Wasabi and for some reason, it takes about 20 minutes to fulfill said ginger and wasabi request. By that time we were almost finished with our meal.

Awesome place. I’m from San Francisco area and hit a lot of sushi places and this one is on par with any of those. Very fresh and lots of flavor. Service was great.

They took an hour to serve our sushi and it was flavorless and dry. We had a toddler and they have only one option on the menu which was chicken teriyaki (my daughter doesn’t like saucy things) and it cost $ 7.50 for a kids meal! Extremely overpriced for small rolls, empty restaurant, bad sushi… do not recommend.

This is my regular lunch stop between classes at Whatcom CC. The servers are very friendly, and the food is solid, reliable strip mall bento– which isn’t a backhanded compliment. You won’t be blown away, but what they do, they do well and for a good price.
Note to Disabled: Reasonably accessible, has its own parking lot, but disabled spaces are few. Usually not so busy that this is an issue.

2 ½ star average??? Hell no, this place is at least a four!!! I love the food here, prices are okay, but you definitely get your money’s worth when you order (whatever)… I’ve had food at the other teriyaki places in Bellingham and they don’t really stack up at all. I mean, if you REALLY like your chicken swimming in teriyaki sauce (even though that’s the wrong way to serve it!), then you might as well go get it at Jack in the Box…
This place is great! And you don’t have to wait forever to start eating.

Sushi is always a treat for me. I never desire it enough to go out for it myself, nor does it come to mind when I’m thinking of suggestions for a group of friends. However, whenever someone else suggests it, I’m all in! Oishii is one of my family’s favorite places to get sushi in whatever Bellingham neighborhood it is in. (Bellis Fair neighborhood?) The food is not too expensive and serving sizes seemed larger than most sushi shops, and the rainbow sushi was excellent. Good sushi in large portions with delicious prices: Oishii is a winner.

This place was super yummy! My husband and I called in an order for takeout and ordered 3 different rolls and the veggie tempura. The sushi was great! Definitely try the snow roll! The customer service was great! I will be going here again!

I’m not sure I understand the negative reviews. My Pacific Northwest teriyaki experience has been pretty consistent from Burien to Bellingham and this one wasn’t much different except they serve sushi, udon and have a really friendly family of staff! My two co-​workers on the project at the airport brought me here for their second visit. I had the chicken udon and the noodles were perfect, veggies crisp, chicken tender and broth flavorful. S and B enjoyed their vegetable stir fry, kim chi and chicken teriyaki. S enjoyed the sashimi he had before. They also warned that they’d be back when in the area. They didn’t say so explicitly but I believe that’s a positive sign!

Watered down teriyaki sauce… actually it’s more like plain soy sauce. Long wait as well. Won’t be back.

They had run out of Sake! Service was not very good. But the waitress was alone and trying her best. For the food, I tried the bento combination and the sushi rice was old. The meal was so-​so. A bowl of rice was not included with the meal.
The place was a bit run down and could use some freshening up. I tried it and would not return.

We’re up North visiting Birch Bay and decided to go grab some lunch. Teriyaki and Sushi (best of both worlds) why not give them a try. We walk in and wait to be seated (2 other diners in the entire restaurant, they weren’t busy) and the waitress drops off menus. They proudly display that they’ve won an award for «Best Tasting Teriyaki», all right, we made a good choice.
10 minutes later the waitress arrives and ask for our order. I asked her a few questions about the Bento Boxes and she was unsure what it comes with. I ordered the Bento Box (chicken teriyaki, gyoza, salad and rice) $ 8.99 and the boys had the lunch special $ 5.99 chicken teriyaki bowl. (And, pepsi was $ 2.49 for an 8oz cup and non-​refillable, and if it was refillable, waitress never came and asked)
I’ve had lots of chicken teriyaki before and my goodness, did they really win an award for Best Teriyaki? Because the teriyaki was as dry and tasteless as a shoe. (never ate a shoe and there’s a reason for that) There was no teriyaki sauce on it. The chicken bowl that my boys had was rice, salad, and the chicken on top. My 9 year old who loves food could not finish his food, it was sooo dry. They had teriyaki sauce on the table and we added it to our chicken but it was still unrecoverable. The portions were so small, even in my bento box. (see photo I posted) It was the same portion size as the lunch special for $ 5.99. It wasn’t worth the money I spent … we’ve had better Teriyaki from a supermarket deli.
This place get’s a NO STAR but I can’t write a review without giving it a star. We were still hungry cause we couldn’t eat it, so we went to Burger King!
Save your money, you’re better off eating at the IHOP across the parking lot from them.

I love the sushi and teriyaki here, and stop by whenever possible. Seafood is fresh, and staff is friendly. It’s a small place; I usually get take-​out just because of my schedule, but it looks comfy enough, and clean. I’m not sure why people here are saying things like «overpriced» (seems about average to me) or «not delicious» (I’ve eaten at other establishments and not been as satisfied). Portions are good-​sized, too. Prices seem to be in line with what I pay elsewhere in town. Ignore the bad reviews and give it a try; not sure if they are real or by someone with a grudge, because they are far from the reality I’ve experienced here again and again.

My Fiancé and I have been here often, one of the reasons is it is the closest Sushi place to our house and we can walk.
There is nothing here that screams AMAZING! however, it is not terrible, it is not bad. I truly love the Spider roll and anything teriyaki will be very tasty. If you are in the area and wanting sushi, you will not be dissappointed, as long as you are not going in here thinking you are getting the best sushi around… know what I mean?

Not great! Oishii Kunai (Not delicious in Japanese). Skip this place and try something else. It was way over priced for the type of food they offer.

I drive past here every day on my regular route and it’s usually empty. As I discovered recently, for it’s for good reason. I had a combo of different dishes and none of them were good. I was especially disappointed by the sushi. The texture, temperature, and flavors were all wrong and the freshness questionable. I even recommend grocery store sushi over this place!

People have told me not to eat Japanese food outside British Columbia, but I thought this was just across the US/​Canada border– how bad could it be?
I learnt my lesson! My first indication something was wrong, was that they asked if I wanted a drink, and listed off soft drinks. I would think green tea would be a given?
A glance at the menu told me the sushi was over priced. So much so, that I decided to buy something that would get me a little more food for my money. I ordered the tempura prawns.
Well! I should have just gone to a cheap fish and chips restaurant. The prawn they gave me was covered in a beer batter, not tempura! On top of that, the shrimp tasted like bad frozen shrimp. Ugh! I didn’t order anything else, I asked for a bill, and left.
I was so hopeful, since they had such a cool logo outside. Inside had none of the charm and personality however.
My sushi experiences will just have to remain in Canada.
