Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse

Quaint theater right in the heart of beautiful Bellport Village. I’ve been here several times over the past couple of years and came back recently to see Anything Goes starring Andrea McCardle (the original Annie) and Sally Struthers. Shows here are always fantastic. Theater itself is clean. Lobby area can def use a little TLC though. You can purchase wine or beer, tea or coffee in the lobby before a show and sip your drink while your enjoying a performance. They also sell snacks/​candy. Tickets aren’t cheap (usually run about $ 69) but you get your money’s worth because the performances are always top notch. Talented actors with great singing voices & the sets make you feel as if your watching a Broadway performance but without the travel into Manhattan.

Me and my wife love haunted houses and every year we make sure that we definitely get to the haunted playhouse. No other places compare to the show they put on here, not out here and not in the city. You can tell they put alot of work into this year after year. The only problem is that it’s so good that they really get busy on certain nights, we went on a Sunday and thought it might not be so busy, but it was packed. They do try to make the wait seem not so bad with a bar, games, and a flame swallower but an hour is an hour either way. Still worth the wait though, but would recommend a weekday to go.

Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse is epic! If you’re going to go to any Halloween event on Long Island make this THE one. I’ve been coming to this haunted event for the past 3 years and I have to say that it just keeps getting better and better each year. This is a top notch production with tons of live interactive scares going on. Don’t worry the actors can’t touch you physically, but the know how to scare the Hell out of you!
This is not your typical community «firehouse» doubling as a haunted house. This is an elaborately constructed journey that takes you upstairs, downstairs, outside, in elevators, and other dimensions — seriously there is a vortex room that sincerely screws with your head. The entire experience takes about a half an hour to get through providing you don’t get held up along the way.
After you pay or check in (you can purchase tickets on-​line), there is a short to moderate waiting period until your number is up! (approx 20 – 30 minutes). No worries though there is a ghostly bar serving up pumpkin ale and a variety of wines, soft drinks, and light snacks while you’re waiting. There are plenty of ghouls and goblins patrolling the area to offer up some jolting entertainment as well. Plenty of photo ops.
This year they’ve added some new attractions like the coffin ride (you actually get in a closed coffin which jumps all over the place), and the Haunted Shooting Gallery. All this along with a few flame swallowers, fortune tellers, and stilt walkers makes for a really fun night out around Halloween time. There is a less «haunted» version for kids during the day.
Highly recommend Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse for a 1^st rate Haunted House experience!

This haunted house was great and so worth the price! Ive worked in haunted houses in the past as well as go to about 20 of then a year and this one is deff up their as one if my favorites! Pretty scary but the set up is done very well

I consider myself an extreme horror fan and haunt visitor .

I wanted to go again as soon as I walked out
The whole thing about 45 mins to an hour to get through .
The actors did just jump out at you for that quick scare but stick around to make you feel very uncomfortable .
At every turn there was someone else and all hidden very well .
They used every trick in the book to disorient you and misdirect you so you don’t expect the next scare!
It was Sunday night and we decided to get there early because the Walking Dead was on AMC that night
The wait was only an half hour but you didn’t have to wait on line.
when you checked in they gave you a number and there was count down screens everywhere so you knew when it was almost time to go .
This gave us a chance to sit and have a pumpkin beer at the outdoor bar.
They had all kinds of food and drinks for all ages at very low prices .
They also had attractions outside wile you waited
A fire eater, shooting gallery and a coffin ride that just for $ 4 you get in a real coffin
Wile your friends watch you on a video feed inside
You get jolted around and listen to a recording of people burying you (it was a blast)
Once your number comes up your group goes in, there was 8 in my group and they split us in groups of 4
Then soon we are all split up in the haunt its self .
I’m not going to tell you about the haunt because I don’t want to spoil it
But I do recommend you get there quick before its over !

I’ve experienced many haunted houses and I have to say I went to Gateway last night and I was not blown away especially by all the reviews that I’ve read. I am not one to complain but I have to say all the 17 and 16-​year-​old actors which would make the Halloween want to has experience good made it worse they were not scary they just did a bunch of screaming like they were hanging out with their friends. I did not get startled once all the decorations were really great. A lot of time and consideration into the decorating but they need real actors and not white face painted in plainclothes kids… also another complaint was when why was with my group of three I was split off from my two friends for most of the time and had to go through by myself part of the experience is going in with the people you came with to see all their reactions and have fun have to say I’m very disappointed… Especially for 25 $

It was a fasinating experience. The only problem was when the worker seperated me and my fiancé.
We thought we were going to end up together eventually but that never happened. Therefore we couldn’t enjoy the same experience and ended up fighting about it. We were walking with random strangers and it was very uncomfortable. It totally killed the fun and chit chat for the hour ride home. I would like to get a full refund. thank you.

First let me start by saying I’m a huge fan of haunted houses and have been to so many on Long Island throughout the years. Not only was this a lengthy attraction, but they also have fun activities to do while you wait for your number to be called. Once you enter Gateway, there is a coffin ride, a small shooting game and a large tented area where you can purchase beer, hot cocoa and other refreshments while you wait. Super convenient as I’ve been to other haunted houses where you would just wait on an hour line for a 15 walk through.
Once you are ready to enter the haunted house, the whole walk will last about 30 minutes indoor and outdoor which was awesome! Their actors also make sure to hold groups in some rooms so that there is no group too close to each other during the tour. I went with a group of four people and we were also pretty satisfied!
I definitely recommend this for a fun Fall night out!

I try to go to as many haunted houses as I can every year trying out different ones but this one will always be a must for me. Love coming back here every year. Gateway has amazing sets and actors and doesn’t rely on big crazy animatronics which I just don’t find scary. Gateway is definitely one of my favorites and I’m so proud and thankful that Long Island has such a great haunted house that’s scary, fun and not over the top cheesy like the normal haunted houses everywhere.

I was just there this past Saturday, & I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised! The Haunted house, although its the only one on the property, took quite a while to get through. the characters stayed in character the entire time… Not only was it visually stimulating, but the smells were HORRBLE! which was great, because while your walking though what looked like a butcher shop of rotting flesh. that’s what it actually smelt like! I would have given this place 5 stars. but being from upstate & have experienced The Headless Horseman year after year, I’m a little biased & don’t think anything can compare… But Gateway is definitely fantastic. & the best I’ve been to so far on Long Island!

Awesome! Lengthy too! If you are into haunted houses, you’ll enjoy this one. I’ve been to many haunted houses and this one has an amazing scare factor. Highly recommended!

Love this place, I went here October 2014 and have not written a proper review that they so well deserved. I really like going to haunted houses and the ones in Long Island to be quite frank are way better than the once in the city. The tour was long and lasted more than 15 minutes, they had everything I can think of in terms of horror themes from a crazy asylum, scary barns, dead children in a bus, chainsaw killer, crazy possessed women, demented clowns etc. I had so much fun in here! I would definitely be back next year!

Scares the hell outta me every time I go! Strobe lights, smoke machines, and stink bombs all make the atmosphere truly terrifying. Not for the faint of heart.

I’ll start off with saying it’s worth the price. We went around 7pm on a Friday night a week before Halloween and we only waited a few minutes to enter. I wouldn’t have minded waiting because they had a bar and some entertainment outside.
The house was very detailed and there were tons of actors, and twists and turns. The whole house took us about 15 minutes to walk through. There were a lot of stairs so I took the job of letting my party know when we were going up or down to make sure that no one got hurt.
One thing I wasn’t expecting was for the actors to touch you. This threw me off guard. They came so close that they were literally chest-​to-​chest touching me and I couldn’t understand the boundaries. One actor was invading my privacy too much so I tried to gently push past him and he yelled at me, threatening to evacuate me from the attraction. I calmly explained that I didn’t know the limitations and he let me pass. There was nowhere mentioned by any staff or signs that I would be touched so I was confused. If you don’t touch me, I don’t touch you. I would not recommend the house for anyone under 15, it was a bit intense even for me, an experienced house-​goer. Other than that slight issue I had a great time.

I’ve been here every year and every year is better than the last. The Gateway did a great job on effects, costumes and makeup! My only complaint is that the two groups behind us caught up to our group about halfway through. No big deal… Best haunted house I’ve ever been to!
Also, we took our 3yo to their not-​so-​scary event last week. They did a great job covering up all the stuff kids shouldn’t see and my kid loved the adventure.

I had high expectations for this haunted house. My boyfriend went last year and he kept telling me how awesome it was but our visit was a bit disappointing. It was good. But not great… only because there wasn’t any space between the groups of people that were in line waiting. I feel like every haunted house should give groups time to get ahead before they send it the next group so that it doesn’t ruin it for the next person. Don’t just let everyone in because the only people who will get scare and experience everything are the two people in the front and that is not fair. We paid $ 80 bucks (VIP PASSES)!! LOL And it was SUPER long but that wasn’t enough to get more than 3 stars. And definitely not worth $ 80

Best haunted house I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to nearly every one on Long Island AND NYC. Year after year they never seize to scare me and the 45 minute Walkthrough is one of the longest. $ 25 is worth every penny, trust me.

This is by far one of the best haunted houses I have been o in a long time ! The staff really had everything under control with lines and order. The inside and the outside crops and actors were great and the make up was really good ! Enjoyed watching my son ride the coffin and make faces on the video camera ! A must go to all !

According to my teenage son, the Haunted House in October was one of the best he has been to on Long Island. It was well worth the money spent!
