Belmont 76 Service

I was looking for someone who was open late for smog test. I called in and the guy said to come on over. When I arrived the service guy, Najib, was so friendly even though I didn’t have my registration on hand and he helped me find my vin number. While waiting to get checked in another guy came to pick up his truck that had been fixed and Najib didn’t charge him at all. I was so glad to see that there are kind and gracious car mechanics out here. I’m going to keep coming here because of Najib’s positive attitude and kindness. Great service!

My car burns through oil every 1000 miles or so. I usually go for the free top off where I get my oil changed, but I was in a rush and didn’t want to kill the car, so I pulled in here to purchase some oil. In the past, At other stations, I’ve bought the oil and just asked for a funnel and to do it myself. The man working that day, came out to the car to ask how he could help. When I explained, he checked the oil and put in the two quarts himself. He was awesome!!! Thank you!

This is long overdue. I originally posted a review but unfortunately I posted to the wrong location. I want to sing the praises of Naj. You want a trust worthy guy? He is it! He has been servicing my car and my families cars for years. I was going to buy a used car and took it to Naj to get the once over because I truly trust and value what he says. We previously talked about getting certain types of cars which he told me to stay away from due to the fact that they are problematic. When I brought the car I was about to purchase to him he gave me his honest opinion. Along with helping my mother find a new computer for her 90’s Jaguar. The car is worthless with out the computer… we tried looking online ourselves which seemed completely impossible but once we took it to Naj he pulled through and found the computer! There have been so many instances he’s been our knight in shining armour. Thank you!!!

I really appreciate that they’re open late on the weekend for smog checks! I called about 5 other places in the area after 5pm on a Saturday and their smog technicians were either gone or they just weren’t providing a smog check on the weekend.
I called around 5:45pm and they could take me at 6:30pm that day.
Naj is very nice. He saw I was a little alarmed at the $ 59 smog check fee and immediately gave me $ 10 off. Of course, there is still the standard $ 8.25 California fee, but that was nice of him. I looked up prices later and it seems you can get a smog check for as low as $ 29 or as high as $ 130. Belmont is a nice area and I appreciate their hours and flexibility, so I think that’s worth costing a little more (but still being on the low end of smog checks!).
He estimated it would take 20 minutes to do the smog check, but they were done in 12!
Naj also talked to us a for a little bit. His brother (or cousin?) is the owner of Philz Coffee! Small world. Very friendly guy.

For years I have been going here and am always greeted with friendly and exceptional service! Appreciate having a quality option close to home.

Great Service! Great People! I needed smog done on my car. Naj was fantastic in answering all my questions. He promptly delivered the car within the time he promised he would. They have much experience in fixing cars old and new, foreign and domestic. The shop is well organized and people are cordial. I will certainly take my car there for maintenance and repairs.

I’ve never used the service station portion of this shop but I’ve been here to fill up my gas tank a few times.
They open early in the morning but they don’t appear to stay open that late. Gas prices are fine. Not outrageous but it also wouldn’t be your first stop of you got off the highway as there are two closer gas stations on either side of Ralston (with better hours) as you approach caltrain.
I think there’s only 4 total pumps here and it’s not the easiest place to get in and out of, but it’s never crowded.
They’re doing a thing for a free lottery ticket raffle type contest if you fill up with over $ 30 in gas but the two times I’ve come here since that started, there’s never been a person manning the gas station desk to allow me to claim that and I don’t really want to have to interrupt the mechanic side for what is essentially a raffle gimmick… though I do love me some lottery tickets.

The stupid rude ignorant Italian man told me I had to pay a $ 1.00 to turn the air pump on so I could take care of a flat. Its California law to turn the air on free of charge. He argued with me telling me he had all the legal information stating I had to pay a dollar. If you’re worried about a dollar for air Mr. rude man then you are in the wrong business. What a C-​word.

5 stars well deserved. Naj and his son were as helpful and diligent as could be, they did a great job explaining to me what was needed and why. I had my car towed all the way from mountain view just so i knew all honest work would be done. The pricing was very fair and the service left me smiling. I highly recommend giving your business to this location, now a days its hard to find a mechanic that you can trust but here you will have no worries. Honest work and great customer service, what more do you need?

If I could give the owner, Naj, his son and his very professional staff 10 stars in my review of his business I certainly would… as we know it can be very challenging to find a mechanic that you can trust to fix your car properly, be honest with you and offer you the best pricing and most importantly give you excellent customer service.
Belmont 76 offers more than that to ALL of their customers ! Your search is finally over if you have been looking for the BEST business in San Mateo County to take your car to for all of it’s mechanical needs and more.
Quite frankly, it’s very puzzling to me to have read some of these very strange reviews/​complaints regarding Belmont 76 and their staff.
They make absolutely no sense to me at all, I certainly would disregard all of them.

Exploitative, overpriced crooks. My car stalled out nearby so I had AAA tow me to the nearest approved service station which was here. I normally get my car serviced at a reputable brand-​specific mechanic in San Jose. Didn’t do my due diligence and read the reviews before I dropped it off. So they said they’d charge a hefty diagnostics fee which was fine, but when the final bill came after the repairs were assessed, the diagnostics were on top of the rest of the labor. Additionally I was charged about 50% more than retail price for the part replaced. I shopped for quotes at my usual mechanic and other local service stations and every quote came out 200 – 300 dollars cheaper than what I had to pay here, and what could I do? I needed my car, they knew I was stuck, so they took me for every dime they could. I will never come here again, nobody I know will ever come here, none of my family will ever come here. They made a lot of money on this one fix but they missed out on a lifetime customer.

After posting this review I got a call from the mechanic who called me an asshole. Real class act here.

Today I stopped by this gas station with my friend so that I could get air in my tire that was low. Last I checked, air is free and usually continues to be free. I’ve gotten gas here several times as well, so it was my surprise when my girlfriend came back to the car and said he wouldn’t turn it on for us– at least until we bought gas.
I was confounded. Never have I had to get gas in order to get air… What if I had a flat tire? I went inside in order to sort this out. I mentioned that I had gotten gas there several times and that I didn’t see what the problem was. He decided to turn it on.
The one thing that really stuck out to me and my friend was the difference in treatment we both received. You see, she’s African American. I’m Caucasian. We really can’t say for sure if this treatment was because of this (for all we know, it could be because we’re both women or that this guy really is that stingy) but it stung either way.
Not how either of us wanted to start our MLK holiday…

The business owner/​manager (?) personally reached out to me within the hour and expressed his concerns regarding our experience here. His kind apology made me feel so much better about the experience and it’s refreshing to know that there are still business owners that take their customers’ experience very seriously!

I’ve taken several of my cars here over the years. They’ve taken cars of my Toyotas, Jeeps and Honda with no issues. Fixed everything from radiator leaks, water pump and even converted my freon AC to R-​?? For today’s regs. Better than the dealerships, especially with my older models.

I’ve been taking my 2003 Corolla to these guys since I got it, and never any problems. They do a thorough job, have reasonable prices, and are genuine and trustworthy. Even though they aren’t the closest to my house, it’s the only place my car goes for big services — because I know they will do it right!

My mom and I had a cracked radiator and coolant steam was coming from her car so we drove around the corner and into the Belmont 76 Station. We met Najib at the station and he was very helpful, professional, and kind. He gave us an estimate and said he could fix the problem in a couple of hours. We were so appreciative and we will be back in the future for any car problems we may have. From this experience I would recommend this garage/​service center.

Definitely recommend taking your car in for smog and emissions repairs if you have an older car like I do… Najib, was extremely helpful, professional and friendly in helping me with these repairs and efficient. Was able to complete the work in a timely frame which was great. I’ll be back in the future and highly recommend them for smog and emissions repairs. My 96 Infiniti G-​20 thanks you too!

Went here to get a flat tire fixed. The worker was not exactly friendly, but he got it done in 5 minutes or less. He didn’t tell me what they found in the tire, or how they fixed it, but I guess that’s OK, as the tire is fine now. It was $ 25. I went here because I live nearby, and I’m an AAA member so I thought there would be a discount. The worker said no, It’s only discounted after a certain point (I think he said it was after $ 700 in labor).
Despite my 4 star review, I’m not planning on going here again, mainly because of the worker’s attitude. Also, I’ve gotten a tire patched for $ 20 in San Mateo… and there are probably other places that cost the same or less.

These guys saved my life! My BMW crapped out on the 101 Freeway on the afternoon before the 4^th of July — heavy traffic. AAA towed me to Belmont 76, and these guys were about ready to wrap up the auto repair so they could start to enjoy the holiday. At first they were thinking it would have to wait a day, but since it looked most like to be the alternator (which it was) they got the job done right away. I was back on the road in less than 2 hours from tow time, to paying the bill — which was quite fair, with the AAA discount.

I can say for a fact that I have used Belmont 76 for many services, including smog. They have never been anything but honest and trustworthy, and have never failed to provide excellent service.
I was recommended to Belmont 76 by a nun, that has been going there for over 30 years. If you can’t trust a nun, who can you trust? Naj is a great guy, and has been in the automotive business for 40 years. Belmont 76 provides quality service, and is the only place I trust.
