A+ service! It really is rare to find someone who is genuine and honest. I took my car in to have a safety check done, since my 120,000 mile tune up is due. This way we figured out exactly what I needed without the hassel of the dealership selling me on things that aren’t necessary. When the results came back, we prioritized what was needed immediately vs what I can do when I come back. I was told my safety was important as well as my budget. I know females can get taken advantage of at other places, but not here. It’s refreshing, and I will be happy to take my Honda here from now on! I am one satisfied customer! And they’re Giants fans! Pluses all around!

A little difficult to understand their english at times but good service and they did a good job quickly. I’m a fan and would use them again.

My car recently began to fall apart on me – it sprung a coolant leak, idled roughly, the clutch began slipping, etc. I was just under my 90k tune up when I took my car to Ken (a coworker of mine has been raving about an ‘honest mechanic’ and I couldn’t believe one existed). I got my car back from the dealership and was aggrieved with their estimate, so I decided to give K&K a shot.
Ken kept me apprised of the work my car needed – he ran his own diagnostic, and many points that the dealership wanted to fix, Ken said were fine and not required. This saved me a ton of cash. I left for literally a fraction of what the dealership wanted, and my car is doing great!
This is now the only place I’ll take any of my family cars.

An honest mechanic is like a rare natural phenomenon. When you find one, at first you can’t believe it, then you are mesmerized and can’t stop smiling! That is how I felt after speaking with Ken. He is one of those people that understands that some of us folks are under tight budgets and cannot spend hundreds of dollars on unnecessary repairs or mind boggling dealership prices!
My experience with Ken and K & K Auto was nothing short of spectacular. He explained in detail what was wrong and what needed to be replaced and even pointed out a couple of things that the dealership had missed (brought in an 09 Honda Accord for rear brake inspection). He showed me all the old parts that was replaced (btw, he uses genuine OEM replacement parts!) and pointed out some important facts about the parts and the car I did not know. Performed all repairs in a timely manner and most importantly at an extremely reasonable price (almost half of what the dealership would’ve charged).
I highly recommend K & K Auto service and will definitely bring the car back for any other repairs or service I may need.

I think every five star reviews here are well-​deserved for K and K Auto Service. I used to go a different auto service in San Mateo, but on this day they were close so I tried K and K. I saw these good reviews from Unilocal and decide to go there, and it was a great choice. Ken, the mechanic was at front and he was such a nice guy. I changed oil here and he checked every details of the car. He even recommended to change my tires even thought he doesn’t to tires. The price was cheaper then where I used to go. I think I’ll definitely come back for my next oil change and other services.

Ken is the MAN! I came here weird electrical problems with a late 90s VW jetta. They were open saturday, gladly accepted the car and looked at it right away. Ken found the source of the problem (a corroded electrical component), he cleaned it and it worked flawlessly. Pricing was very fair, Ken was funny and personable, and the service was top notch. This is where I’ll bring all my cars from now on!

Ken is the kind of mechanic you find and never let go: knowledgeable, honest, and straightforward. I’ve brought my Honda Accord to him for the last year or so and he’s almost immediately known every problem with it. He will tell you exactly what you need to have fixed but won’t pressure you on fixing other issues. I really respect that about Ken, he’s not looking to just make a quick buck, he’s looking to earn a great reputation. As far as I’m concerned, he’s the best mechanic in the area.

I went for a oil change, Ken was very friendly and gave me tips on how to take care of my car. He checked the tire pressure and various other things for free. I would definitely go back again.

I came here for a smog check. The customer service is excellent. Ken worked on my car right away and it took a little less than 30 mins. The service was exceptional and I plan on coming back in the future.

I agree. Ken did a great job with my car. I had a problem with my car that didn’t seem like it would be too expensive to fix, but the dealer wanted over $ 150 to fix it. Ken was able to do it for much cheaper and I was glad he was able to repair the part I already had – I hate to throw things away (especially plastic) when I don’t have to. I appreciate his competence, trustworthiness, and kindness. Thanks Ken.

As a young female, it is so great to find a garage that I know is not out to fleece me with work that doesn’t need doing. My first visit was for a full service on a ‘new to me’ car’. Ken checked everything out and got the car good to go. He called with a quote before starting any work.
When my service light came on again i went back to Ken and he changed the oil and transmission fluid, checked the tires all for a bargain price. When I arrived to pick up my car Ken and his wife greeted me by name, complimented me on how well looked after the car was and advised me about the tire pressure. Then waved me off! Such lovely people.

Took my grandma’s car that I’ve inherited into K&K Auto. Needed to get a smog check done. Noticed that, on Unilocal,Ken had the best prices for a smog check. However, since he had so many other cars to work on, he wasn’t able to do it right then and there. If you are in a rush, this may not be the place for you? I live close by and had the day off, so I just walked home.
When I came back, he shared with me some things the car need to get done. And on top of that he helped fix the headlamp that was messed up from an accident my grandma was in. That was an extra star in my book. He went above and beyond. Think the grand total of the smog with DMV fee was $ 38?

I usually take my car to the dealership for the regular service since I bought the car from them 2 years ago (Honda). They told the brake pads are wearing out and it requires replacement. I didn’t want to fix this issue there since they gave me an unreasonably high price. After doing my research on the the shops around SF and my work at Redwood city I came across K&K. First of all, the quote Ken gave me was exactly what I had in mind to replace the pads. Second, he tells you things that you would not expect to hear from your mechanic. His suggestions were logical and caring. Ken is an awesome dude with a great attitude towards everything. He fixed my car in less than a day and I would happily bring my car back for any other work related.

I just moved to SF and immediately something went wrong with my car so I had to take it in. I First took it into the dealer and was quoted a ridiculous amount to replace some parts, so I had to find another solution. One of our friends recommended Ken. And guess what? Ken got it all fixed within 24 hrs for about half the cost. He even replaced two other filters FREE of charge. How could you beat that? You can’t! I will be coming back!
If your car need overnight service, their location is convenient too if you are close to Caltrain. They are within a 5 min walk from Belmont Station.

Ken has been taking care of my Honda Civic with 150,000 miles on it for almost 3 years. The car runs great with minimal maintenance costs. I am a happy customer and recommend K and K to anyone.
Here are a couple of examples of K&K’s great service:
1) Had a broken temperature control knob on my dash. New dash from Honda costs $ 500. Ken could have just sent for the expensive new part and called it a day. But instead of going for the new dash, Ken spent a good part of the day tinkering with mine and taking it apart, and actually fixed it!
2) Ken would never do a service he doesn’t think is needed. I kept asking him about squeaky brakes. But he told me this was normal for brakes that are not Honda brand and said I did not need to replace them. The car still brakes just fine and the squeaking has gone away.
I started taking my wife’s car to K and K and have been recommending it to all my co-​workers since my office is near by.

Stopped by for a smog check on my 2005 Camry and it was completed promptly and my car was fully inspected. I know my front brakes were close and they inspected the car. Brought the car back a week later for recommeded service on the brakes and steering cylinder boot and everything was completed and many extra’s as well. I’ve never seen a mechanic care so much, not ask me to have maintenance performed I don’t need. In addition he and completed work as advertised and on-​time. On two visits, they have built trust that just doesn’t exist. I plan to bring our new Lexus here as well.
I’m a huge fan and highly recommend this shop!!!

NEW (used) hood and the car looks AWESOME! Ken even cleaned my headlights at no charge. AWESOME awesome awesome.

I wrote this great long review about how awesome K & K Auto was, but it just didn’t sound genuine. Here’s what you need to know the service is great from setting an appointment to just stopping in, they are very cost effective not after your arm and leg, and Kenny will always go above and beyond to fix your vehicle. We take all our personal, and business cars here.

What a relief that was!
Ken can fix anything.
Jan 9, 2014: K&K smogged my car the other day.
The price was right, and the results were good.
Better yet, I found a shop I’ll trust for repairs.
(BTW, the shop is very clean and uncluttered.)
I know cars pretty well, and Ken inspired my confidence.
He’s a great guy, and he’s skilled.
I’ll be going back.
