Pet Food Express

It’s obvious the employees at Pet Food Express are pet lovers. When we hand carried our puppy in, the first thing the employee at the counter said was, «can I get you a cart and line the baby seat with a towel so you can put your puppy down?» He can tell our puppy isn’t fully vaccinated yet (since we are hand carrying him around), and offered to help right away.
The only downside: price is much higher than online stores. I personally appreciate the helpful and friendly service so I’ll shop here when I need something right away. But I may shop online for the lower prices if I’m not in a pinch. (frankly, I’m really conflicted here. I really want to support a friendly business. But its prices are more than double of its online competitors — though I can’t blame it due to the high cost of operating a business here in the Bay Area. See my conflict? :))

The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. I’ve always very good experiences here and appreciate their buy 3 get 1 free deals on dog food. Great selection of products and the self wash station is great. Definitely one of my favorite stores!

I have two cats with about a trillion digestive problems that refuse to eat cat food that’s good for their digestive system while still being very dedicated to artfully begging for food non-​stop.
I’ve stopped by Pet Food Express a few times but my first time actually buying anything was last week and then again this week after their staff helped me find some healthy food (dry, no less) that my little dudez will actually eat.
So I’m feeling pretty grateful… but at the same time broke as sh*t because I just dropped $ 60 on what will probably end up being 2.5 days of good eating for my boyz.
Not Pet Food Express’ fault that quality costs, buuuut you can get a lot of the stuff in here for cheaper on
(and 10% of your purchase can go somewhere great like to no-​kill cat shelters). Then again, it probably isn’t as fresh online.
One thing I really like is that if you buy some ($$$) food for your pet and your pet hates it, Pet Food Express will take it back. Really nice when you’re spending $ 40 on a tiny pack of meat pebbles and worried your cat might reject it anyway.

These people are awesome. Obviously there is a culture set by leadership/​ownership as the people who work here really exude it. Not a massive selection of wet kitten food, but just enough to hit the target. Wish they opened a bit earlier on Saturdays.

We’ve been going to multiple Petfood Express locations for years. They have the highest quality food, washing stations, treats. I think last year they changed their policy so that none of their treats or food were made in China, which makes choosing items for my dog much easier
They also have a generous return policy: We got a defective bag of Sojo’s which was mostly veggies. Even though we went through almost the whole bag before we figured this out, they took it back. I know from past experience they’ll even take it back if your dog doesn’t like the food.
The staff will also help fit your dog with the right size halter or gentle leader, etc. And if it still doesn’t work? They’ll accept the return. And that attitude keeps me coming back.

I have been coming into Pet Food Express for the past couple years now to get all of my pet supplies. They have a pretty huge variety of both dog and cat food, as well as a ton of different pet accessories. Also, located towards the back of the store are a bunch of dog washing stations, which seem to be well kept up and functional. If my dog wasn’t so anti-​social, I would take her here simply due to convenience.
They have a nice selection of non food related items, such as beds, cat towers, laser pointers, and different furminator brushes. In my experience, I have never had to go on Amazon or similar online stores because Pet Food Express carries pretty much everything, and price fairly.
The kids that are working here are usually very friendly and helpful. They offer tons of advice on different products, and fortunately do not always try and sell you the most expensive X or Y. Their opinions are honest, which is a nice change of pace from your PetSmart or PetCo stores.
Also, every so often they have an adoption day, and set up little stations with dogs out front on the grass. I believe they are usually held on Saturdays, but I could be wrong.

My experience from a few visits to Pet Food Express have made me believe that this place is run by people who really care about pet. Everyone I have spoken with was super friendly and professional, and taught me a lot about the type of food that really matters to my dog. I highly recommend this store!

This review is only for the dog-​washing stations. At these prices, customers deserve better than tepid water, no soap, and cold air to dry with. Come in in the morning if you expect soap in the soap bottles they use as backup for their poor soap-​through-​the-​hose system. This is the only reason I come in here and then I usually buy one of their overpriced dog treats on the way out.

The pet wash station is amazing — way easier and more convenient than any other self dog wash I have been to! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Lots of premium pet food brands.

Will was a life saver! I went into the store looking for a certain type of cat food for my finicky cat. To my dismay, I couldn’t find the usual bright yellow package of Professional cat food. I asked one of the clerks and she told me Diamond discontinued the brand. I asked her if they had any suggestions for a comparable substitute. She pointed me to Will and told me he would be the right guy to ask. Once I told Will the situation, he brought me over to the cat food and offered a few options. I picked one and he took me to the register and let me take the food as a test to see if Kitty will like it. He even offered to take the food back and try others if she didn’t like it. Overall great customer service!

We have two Cavaliers and this is our favorite dog store to go to. All the staff are always super friendly, attentive, knowledgable about their products, and wonderful to our dogs. We have never had a bad experience here and have been 10+ times. The store is always clean and the bathing service is a nice additional perk.
We were there today and Will spent a lot of time explaining about the different dog/​puppy foods, shampoos and even dog shoes! He was really knowledgeable on everything and my Cavalier, Maddie, loved him (especially after the treat!). The dog food he recommended was not only healthier for my pup than what we were currently feeding her, but she also loved it and it had an added bonus of being something both my dogs could eat. Will made today’s experience wonderful, I would definitely recommend shopping here!

Pet Food Express does not deserve five stars.
Things were going well until I had a bad experience. Then I found out what these people are made of when things don’t go well. They have poor listening skills.

I’m a 70 year old grandma that had never before used the bathing service. Will and James were two wonderful, helpful and patient employees who guided me thru using the facilities to bathe my Corgi, Teegan. I have only one suggestion and that is to make the dryer a tad warmer. I would have finished Teegan sooner. I had to ask for more drying time, but it was graciously given. I certainly will come back again as all the bending while washing my little girl is back breaking work. I will also spread the word to all my dog lady friends. Next time I will purchase the 4 pack tokens for the wash.

Went to this store for the first time today based on their reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. Will came up to me and asked if I needed help within a few seconds of noticing me staring aimlessly at cat treats. He was extremely knowledgeable and helped me understand the differences in a wall of bagged cat food so I could make the best possible choice for my latest rescue kitty. You could tell he was passionate about pets and really cared about the customers and helping them. Overall a terrific experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this store!

Id give it ten stars if I could! This place is off the hook everytime I go! What store do you go to that wants to really save you money? And at the same time not be full of bologna??? This one! Every time I stop here to get pet supplies, the staff is warm, welcoming and they know their products very well! This last time I had the pleasure of being helped by Will and first he knew exactly where my product was, but even turned me onto a different line if pet food that he said was pretty much the same good, just much better price! I explained to him that my dog is picky and I wasn’t sure I should change food, so he was nice enough to give me a complimentary bag of the other food to try! Then he escorted me to my car and loaded it so I could be in my way! Excellent customer service and I now will only go here for pet supplies! Thanks guys!

Hi, This is the best pet store I have ever experienced! The staff is super helpful and kind, and they really know the merchandise! They also seem to truly love animals.
I love washing our dog here, they have towels, and help me lift my dog into the tub (not easy). Also, they carry some great dog food and treats… Will was great last time we came in, but honestly EVERYONE who works here is great! I wish I could give them 6 stars and this is my first Unilocal review ever. Please visit this store!

I really love shopping at Pet food express. The people that work here are helpful, nice, patient, and knowledgeable. They definitely go the extra mile in explaining things and recommending items. Today I was in the store in Belmont, CA and @Will Crowley was just awesome. I was losing my mind with my puppy and my 5 year old and Will made it much easier for me.

Everyone was so friendly, greeting at the door by Ashley, Speedy service with smile at counter by Oralia. Sam and Willi are very knowledgable about products. Taking time with questions about special doggie diets! I was impressed before I left my purse behind in the bath area and when I called Josh said we have it secured in office! During the holidays staff can be tired and stressed but these people helped me clean and feed a muddy wet dog and keep my sanity! They deserve a treat!

They are nothing but kind and helpful at this particular Pet Food Express. It’s super clean and well stocked.
After staring at the canned dog food selection for a few minutes I was asked if I knew about their canned food promotion or needed any help. Later on they also noticed I was looking intently at the dog treats display and offered to clarify anything. My dog has a lot of food allergies so although I’m very open to suggestions, I still read labels carefully. Overall everyone was super friendly without being pushy.

Amazing customer service! Trent and Ashley helped us tonight and they never even rushed us though they were closing. They truly care about your pets and not just the sale. Will be coming back here many more times!

Passed by this place on my way doing errands. Place was very easy to find. I brought my 2 pups here for self grooming. Was very easy and self explanatory. I would recommend coming here to wash your dogs. You get to wash your dog’s and dry them for 25 minutes for $ 15. Can’t beat that price. Better than washing my dogs at my home and leaving a mess. I’ve been to other pet food express and this has the best and most friendly staff. I live 30 miles away but I will com here more often just for the awesome staff.

Had an excellent experience. Will was super friendly, helpful and genuine. Lots of knowledge and I got everything I needed. I will definitely shop there for all of my pet needs. Nice to have a genuine interaction at a store these days!

amazingly i’ve never been to a pet food express until today. i was at another shop in the complex and decided to stroll in with my dog. i grabbed a cart and plopped her in the basket. a friendly employee was watching from afar and offered a towel for my pet to make the basket ride more comfy. i just thought that was a nice friendly touch.
i wasn’t there for any particular reason, just seeing what they had since it was my first time, in case i wanted to come back for something. there was a gentleman there that was really nice. i told him it was my first time. he helped me weigh my pup and told me about the philosophy and beliefs behind the store. i really liked that he took the time to just share that with me, really gave it a personal touch with just general friendly conversation. it was nice that he even knew that stuff to share. i was actually surprised he shared it. felt like he really knew the company well. its not something people usually tell you when you walk into a store.
for some reason i like to stroll through ever asile of a store, so thats what i did! and no one really nagged me or anything. just a pleasurable stroll through a store with my pup. poking and prodding at all the products
they didn’t carry the food i feed my puppy but the gentleman gave some possible suggestions of where i could go to find it. i thought that was really nice as well. he was familiar with other local stores in the area.
the bathing area was very neatly kept. they provide rubber aprons to help bathe. and there are also towels available. it is all the way in the back of the store which helps reduce noise while you’re shopping.
overall i was really satisfied with the store and the friendly staff. they all seemed very genuine and wanted to be there. they were all also very nice to not only me but my pup!

Something that categorizes all Pet Food Express locations is how friendly and knowledgeable their staff always is. Today I was greeted by the guy at the cash register and then another woman came and helped me find what I was looking for.
It’s not the annoying type of «Can I help you find something?» because they don’t ask you within .2 seconds of walking in. The lady was kind of enough to let me do my browsing before offering help when she noticed I was looking for something in particular.
This location is somewhat smaller than their Burlingame location, but perhaps same size as San Carlos store? Not sure, but nonetheless it seems to have the same necessities, just with a fewer variety. My reason for coming in today: DOGGIE ICE CREAM for my birthday boy tomorrow! The lady showed me were they were. (They have two flavors for $ 10). I had a good first time experience and am happy to have a Pet Food Express closer by! I also think their corner location on Ralston and El Camino is ideal and will get a lot of attention.

Just came back from the Grand opening of the Petfood express down the block. It is a nice clean store with all the pet supplies you’ll need for your dog, cat, etc. They don’t have fish or bird there but they did have an adoption event outside. Also since it was the grand opening they were giving away free popcorn and there was about 6 dog food company vendors there to give out free sample. I got about $ 20 worth of free samples.
They also have 4 dog washing stations here that are coin operated. They have the water mixed with the shampoo/​conditioner as like option 1 and the rinse and blow dry as options 4 and 5. Sort of like those self service car washes. You ask about it in front and they give you some towels and there are aprons there so when your dog shakes you don’t get completely drenched. Also since they are new they had 20% off everything and the dog was was free.
Hey you can’t beat free so 5 stars for today’s visit. Otherwise it was a nice store and the staff was friendly. Good place to give your dog a bath if you don’t have the space for it at home.
They don’t carry every brand of food but they have enough variety to make sure there is something you might want to buy.

This store is in the spot that used to be Blockbuster Video and is a nice edition to Belmont. I have two little fur babies so I’m always looking out for new store’s to spoil them with treats and this one is a decent size and what I love about this place is they have the largest selection of healthy foods for your little furry friends.
For the opening of this store I was mailed a special discount card which included free Cat Treats, 20% discount on my entire purchase and a free self service pet wash. The pet wash is great for dogs but I seriously couldn’t imagine taking my 2 Cat’s along. One is Bengal and loves water but the other will scratch me and everybody else in the local vicinity to pieces before getting anywhere near it.
Plenty of parking nearby and close to all of the other local stores so you can get multiple chores done at once.
