Salon Continentale

I wouldn’t think of getting my hair cut anywhere else. Val is the best! No matter how I want my hair to look (I’m a guy, I don’t bring in pictures… just do a poor job describing how I want it), it always comes out right. Not easy when I don’t give him a lot to go on.
The place is fantastic!

I got a haircut and color. The hairdresser was extremely unprofessional. He cut it very short and my experience was bad. I got a living social deal for haircut and I called the salon before I scheduled my appointment for a single process. I confirmed the price when i called and they mentioned it would be $ 70 for any length hair. when I asked for a particular haircut the stylist was rude by saying he had no time for that cut. First of all if he had no time he shouldn’t take up clients. After my cut and color he charged me $ 110 for the color which was insane. I told him That they mentioned it was $ 70 before I went in, but he gave some reason saying he used a lot of color because my hair was thick!!! This is very unprofessional and would not recommend this salon. They shouldn’t be saying one price and charging much more than that!

After finding a Unilocal deal and seeing so many 5* reviews extolling the virtues of the colorists, coupled with the fact that they offer balayage highlights that I wouldn’t have to keep hiking to Newbury St for, I was really excited to try Salon Continentale. Unfortunately, while all the staff were professional and courteous, the results left a huge amount to be desired, especially for what they charged (even with the Unilocal deal discount)! Honestly, it didn’t seem a whole lot cheaper than what I paid in the Back Bay, and somehow my «balayage» highlights came out looking like a mediocre-​at-​best foil job, and that’s probably being generous. Instead of being a subtle and natural root touch-​up, as I had requested and balayage is always supposed to look like anyway, what I got were incongruent, bleached-​out, thick & chunky zebra lines that were FAR lighter than my old highlights and natural hair tones. Even a friend who saw it the next day thought that I had foil done instead this time because she pointed out that the new highlights looked nothing like my hair used to, or my older highlights where the balayage was still visible.

What a wonderful experience. I have found my new place.
Val was my stylist. He listened to what I wanted and did a fantastic job. His skill level is obvious, not only in the final product but also his technique. He also has a warm manner, making the client feel very much at home. The salon generally feels this way; customers come in, saying hello to the staff, in a relaxed welcoming atmosphere.
I also received low pressure advice on what products to use and how to best manage my hair type. To clarify-​I was not encouraged to buy their products, but told which type of products might be best for my hair.
I tried this salon because I had a Living Social deal, and in the end felt a little guilty using it because the services are better than anything that should be discounted. But I will make it up next time.

This was my first time here and I am very happy with the way my hair came out. They are professional and friendly. I am always hesitant when I tell the stylist that I like the length and only want a trip and then they cut like 5 inches but Val did a great job cleaning it up while maintaining the length. He also gave me advice how to help it grow. After the cut I got a blow out which was amazing.

First time at Salon Continentale and I plan to go back. Salvatore gave me exactly the cut I asked for and it looked great. I also got highlights from him and he was super flexible with coloring it how I wanted it.

I went in already with some color in my hair from before, and I wanted to get balayage done on top of that. Salvatore was incredibly thorough and made time to talk about both what he felt comfortable doing and my vision of what I wanted just to make sure that we were happy and on the same page. He was lovely to talk to and my afterward my hair looked and felt amazing! I absolutely loved what Salvatore did with my hair, and it came out looking exactly like I’d hoped! I definitely recommend this place and I am absolutely returning for my next hair appointment!

You gotta go see Sal for the freshest fades and tape-​ups!

I have been looking for a good salon for a long time now. After trying a few places in Newbury Street and not liking them for different reasons (bad cut, bad color, bad attitude) I decided to try this place out for color and highlight. I Saw Sal for root touch up, and he did an excellent job matching the rest of my hair. On top of that, he even fixed some of my old highlights. I was super happy with the end result; it looked natural and simply beautiful. Going back to see him soon. So happy I finally found a place that I can go back!

This was my first experience at this salon, and I’ll definitely be returning. I went in need of a haircut, and something to cover up the new sprouts of gray that have been popping up all over my mane. My stylist, Salvatore, recommended some caramel highlights and a layered cut.
Throughout the whole process, Salvatore was very kind and communicative, and seemed devoted to making sure my hair was perfect.
And it is. My highlights blend beautifully with the rest of my hair, and look so natural that it’s hard to believe they’re colored. The cut is incredible, and just keeps getting better as it starts to grow out a bit.
I can’t say enough about how wonderful my experience with Salvatore was, nor about how incredible my hair looks and feels. YAY!

Sal has been coloring my hair and Val has been cutting it for about 10 years now. It took a while for me to find them and now I travel almost an hour to get there but it’s worth it — they are so skilled and care about their clients. Besides cut and color, Val used a new keratin product on my hair last month made by a company GK and it gave my hair beautiful texture and shine and also made it much easier for me to style.
I can’t say enough good things about Salon Continentale. The real deal for sure.

I live in Beilont and went to Sal based on the recommendations of others on Unilocal,and I’m glad I did. I don’t typically write reviews, but I appreciated his evaluation of my hair (which I knew had no shape after a previous too short haircut) and his expert cut that I can tell will let it grow out in a way that still looks great. Thanks Sal, and I will be retuning!

I found Sal to not only be a talented hair guy, but a very nice person as well. I had previously suffered major hair loss and went to him for color correction. He was extremely patient, conscientious and sensitive and I achieved a good color with a gentle formula. The rest of the gang there were very welcoming and friendly. Because of my sensitive scalp and thin hair, he was extremely careful not to pull a single thread. Good hair cut, and a guy that really listens. He is more expensive than I am used to but you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend Sal or anyone at this wonderful salon. I don’t think you could go wrong.

Seriously not going to lie when I walked in saw all make staff I was like o no, what did I get my self into lol but let me tell you I have never left a salon more happy! Salvatore did a GREAT job and had me laughing most of the time! Great color and cut just perfect!

I went to Salon Continentale yesterday for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Val cut my hair; he took his time and did exactly what I had asked for. He was also friendly and we chatted for most of the time. I love my new haircut and will be returning in the future! Thanks Val!

Coming from a girl who has seen her fair share of stylists and been to the better half of Boston’s top-​notch salons, Salon Continentale and the talented colorist/​stylist Salvatore have made me want to «settle down».
After getting balayage highlights just a month ago at a pricey Boston salon, I tried to convince myself that I didn’t waste my money… But as time went by, I noticed the color was a bit brassy and looked nothing like the sandy multidimensional blonde I was looking for. Based on the Unilocal reviews and deal, I decided on Salon Continentale to correct the expensive mistake.
Salvatore carefully listened to every picky detail and request I had, and took the time to communicate with me about how he could achieve what I was looking for. He made me feel as though creating my vision of perfectly blonde highlights was his number one priority, and the results are a true testament to his talent. He even trimmed my dry ends prior to giving me a fantastic blowout that made me feel like a million bucks. He pleased a truly picky girl and made me feel genuinely lucky to come across this gem of a salon! I highly recommend Salvatore and Salon Continentale if you are looking to pay a reasonable price for above and beyond treatment and results.

Came here for the first time today and am SO GLAD I did! I had found a Unilocal deal about a year ago and bought it based on the wonderful reviews and boy am I glad I listened to them.
I had my appointment with Sal and he was just amazing! He was so friendly and just a pleasure to have my hair done by. I told him I had got a full foil elsewhere and it just wanst blonde like I hoped, and he worked his magic and at the end I was blonde just like I was looking for. I love that this salon is welcoming, and not like the thousand of prissy salons in my town. I hate going to a salon where everyone leaves looking the exact same. Salon Continentale is a relaxing, welcoming salon :).
I will most definitely come here to have Sal do my hair from here on out and highly suggest you try this salon if you are looking for a great place to relax and enjoy the company of the staff and your hairdresser. Sal you are amazing, I had comments on how great my hair looked the minute I left the salon :) Val (the owner) was very nice as well, introduced himself as I was leaving, and the rest of the staff is kind as well :)

Just got my hair cut by Sal and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I showed him two pics of the style I was looking for and he delivered with the look and great tips on how to manage the new ‘do:)
All the employees are genuinely thoughtful and make you feel like your part of the atmosphere. Like you stopped in to chat and happened to get a hair cut at the same time.
Both Sal and Val shared their stories about Italy which I absolutely couldn’t get enough of. You can tell that they care about the business and hold the customer service to the highest standards-​just like I would expect from the real deal (Italian).
I did find the Living Social deal for a $ 70 value and paid $ 35. It was worth every penny and I am planning on going back. I would highly recommend this place.

I don’t usually waste the time writing a Unilocal review, but this place deserves it.
From the outside you might be a little worried but rest assured it’s a fantastic place. Everyone was friendly. Val washed my hair, got to know me a little bit, and offered me coffee while I was waiting.
Then Salvatore cut my hair! I told him «I’m looking for something new, do whatever looks good» He knows what he’s doing, it’s perhaps the best haircut I’ve ever received!
I even mentioned I had the coupon (which worried me that I would get a sub-​par hair cut) and he still put a lot of time and effort into my hair. He constantly asked my opinion and even stepped back to examine his work.
I will differently return even after the coupon is used up! This place is outstanding!

Came here with my mom and we got cuts by Val and Guy. They were great, talked us through the process of proper conditioners and treatments for both of our dry hair texture. My mom was looking for a crop cut (more difficult to cut and style than longer hair in my opinion), and she ended up loving her cut. I gave Val some guidelines of how long I wanted to keep my hair and he took over with his vision, which turned out really nice. I have long, thick, and coarse hair which gets to be heavy when I wear it down. Val thinned it out and improved my layers without cutting it too short. My hair feels so light now!
My favorite part was that they were not pushy about having us buy salon products. They suggested the types of products we should be using, showed us some that they offered at their salon, and did not try to push the products onto us. Most salons I go to try and pressure you or overwhelm you that you «must» buy a particular hair product that is «only available here!» or «offered at a special salon rate!» which gets annoying. By not being pushy, I felt that Val truly wanted what was best for my hair.
