Known for our innovative menu items, Stone Hearth Pizza cooks only with premium organic and, when available, locally-sourced ingredients. About the Pizza:
Stone Hearth Pizza Co. chefs uses high-protein, 100% organic flour to make their hand-formed dough. The pizzas are topped with their signature sauce, a variety of cheeses and creative ingredients, like prosciutto, zucchini and spicy banana peppers. Approximately 11″ in diameter, the pies are baked in an open-flame, stone hearth oven that operates at temperatures of 700 – 900 degrees Fahrenheit for less than three minutes, resulting in the perfect balance of chew, crunch and char.
History
Established in 2005.
Stone Hearth Pizza Co. debuted in August 2005 in Belmont, Mass., when longtime friends Christopher Robbins and Jonathan Schwarz leveraged a combined 30 years of entrepreneurial experience to open an upscale neighborhood dining spot based on their shared core values: friendship, good food and family. The company’s commitment to sourcing sustainable, organic and, whenever possible, local ingredients ensures a superior product, supports family farming, protects natural resources and strengthens local economies. Chef and manager Michael Ehlenfeldt’s menu offers both classic and unexpected varieties of Neapolitan-style, oven-fired pizzas, as well as a regional beer and wine list. A second location in Sudbury, Mass., opened in May of 2006, and plans for more suburban locations are in the works.
Meet the Business Owner
Jonathan S.
Business Owner
Jonathan Schwarz and Chris Robbins are great friends, corporate refugees, husbands to two amazing women — Lisa and Mel and fathers of three kids each. They set out to create a family friendly but also hip restaurant focusing on serving the highest quality neapolitan style pizza, baked pastas, homemade salads and a great selection of affordable wine and local micro brews. Stone Hearth uses local, organic and sustainable ingredients and products in our restaurants wherever possible. For us, local is about our team, the communities in which we do business and about our 30+ New England suppliers.
We are three and a half years into this wild ride and are deeply grateful to our customers for their on-going support, but also for letting us know when we miss, which of course happens in this very human business.
