UYE: SYOY Abby S! @ McGraw’s Bar & Grill

What better way to celebrate our glorious SouthBay CM Abby S. We were able to send her off in style with drinks, bar food, and the ol’ shuffleboard. A great time was had by all! Thank you to Janet O. and Adam D. for organizing such a fun night.
Unilocalers definitely took over the bar. We began in our own special private area but ended up just about everywhere. A true party! Those Moscow Mules and Whiskey Twists were quite the refreshment for the night. There were quite a few games of shuffleboard going with some stiff but friendly competition. And of course, photos galore! Thanks to Adam for humoring our every last photo request.
Company was topnotch, and even featured Abby’s secret +1, Candice G. Yes, our very own new SouthBay CM joined us for the celebration. I was so glad to spend time with Unilocalers, from brand new to super Elite, and even those who drove from an hour+ away. Such dedication!
Abby, we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you’ve done for the SouthBay community. It’s been such a pleasure getting to know you over the last few years, and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say you’ve done a truly fantastic job. Best wishes on your next venture (which happens to be very nearby, so visiting is definitely in the cards). SYOY!
TIP: Appreciate your community manager. They’re all awesome!

I haven’t been to a UYE in a loonnggg time, but thanks to Janet’s invite, I am so glad I came to this one.
Everyone was friendly and nice, I saw a few old faces, but not many.
My husband and I had a great time, and really enjoyed meeting some new people.
I’ve been to McGraw’s a few times, but rarely have seen it so busy.
I didn’t get food here, but the beer selection was good :)

It was great seeing both Abby and Candice doing the thing they do– putting everyone at ease. Candice is lucky to have Abby transition her in to a vibrant South Bay community.

SYOY Abby!

When Abby announced her migration to San Francisco as Unilocal CM, Janet O. immediately started planning this UYE to give Unilocalers, that became friends with Abby, to have an opportunity to say goodbye. Abby isn’t going far, but I think we would all attest to her memorable Elite events and the fact that we will miss her. I know second hand how much effort is involved in planning these UYE events and this was no different. Janet made a remarkable effort and it showed when the night came. The bar was perfect with it serving food, beer and cocktails. Most of us came directly from work, so having a place to have bites and drinks was ingenious on Janet’s part. Also, the bar had a segregated area, deemed as our private party area, although we spilled into the main area once things got a bit out of hand as they should. She got here early, as a proper hostess should and welcomed everyone that made it out.
So many great people showed up to socialize, it was quite the gathering. We literally took over the bar. The bar owners had to work hard this night, with everyone thirsty for their favorite concoction! I had the bacon cheese burger, which was perfect for the drinking to follow. I had a great time chatting with pretty much everyone. It was obvious that everyone was having a great time including the guest star Abby. Janet O. thank you for organizing such a memorable and exciting event!

A big thank you to Adam D. and Janet O. for organizing this event (my first UYE!) I’ll admit I was a little intimidated walking it. It was the first event I didn’t drag my husband along to keep me company. He had to stay home with the kiddos since it was a school night. I definitely needed to step out of my comfort zone. Thankfully the lovely lady Moo S. was my saving grace and as soon as I walked in she welcomed me and introduced me to everyone. I had seen a lot of people at past events but last night I actually had the pleasure of meeting everyone and making a lot of new Unilocal buddies. It was a great way to spend a Monday evening.
So sad to see the amazing Abby S. move on from our SB group and up to SF. Abby was a huge reason I became an active Unilocaler and received my coveted Elite badge. Best of luck Abby. Ta ta for now and hope to see you again soon!

Oh Abby… where do I even begin?
How about with that round of delectable happy hour mozzarella sticks that you so graciously bought for the table? That was one classy move and one that I personally really appreciated since I’m pretty sure I ate most of the order while you guys weren’t looking.
Seriously though, I guess I’ll start with a solid, ‘Thanks for the J-​O-​B.’ If it weren’t for you and your big move up north to SF, I wouldn’t be here and then I’d never have been able to eat all your mozzarella sticks… which has been my game plan since day 1.
I’d like to then follow that up with a, ‘you’ll be seriously missed’, and just for good measure I’ll tack on a, ‘but I know you’ll still come out to party with us cool South Bay peeps as often as you can.’ Then maybe close with something along the lines of, ‘your next round of mozzarella sticks is on me.‘
Last night was an absolute blast and I don’t want to brag, but I think I set a world record for fastest time to down a beer and eat an entire order of mozzarella sticks + a grilled cheese sandwich and fries loaded with everything green from the toppings bar (jalapenos, olives, pickles). I swear I’m not pregnant, I just eat like it.
Major props go out to Janet O and Adam D, who never cease to amaze me with their hospitality and thoughtfulness. I feel very fortunate to have had the pleasure of getting to know them in just the short time I’ve been in the bay area (all thanks to Abby, of course), and it made me so happy to have the chance to really celebrate Abby and all she’s done for the Unilocal South Bay community over the past almost 4 years.
Abby certainly deserves all the stars, but in keeping with her humble spirit, I’ll sum it up by saying it was a 5-​star night in honor of a 5-​star gal.

Turn that frown upside down! This isn’t goodbye, but more of a distance to travel to visit South Bay’s former CM turned SF CM, Abby S!

Bobby L. and I went to check out some happy hour specials at the bar. The twisted whiskey and donkey punch had caught my eye. The twisted whiskey was a drink that served for two. When the bartender put two straws in the small fishbowl glass, we opted to get one each. We both agreed that their two serving drink was one for each of us. We also convinced Rodney H. to get one was well.
This chalice sized drink didn’t do much for me after one third of it gone. But, by finishing flavorful drink, the creeping begins. After finishing the twisted whiskey, it was on to the donkey punch. Smaller in stature than the twisted whiskey, but did pack that punch with flavor and alcohol.
Sorry, I have no food reviews to report this time around. Ha ha ha!
Met a lot of new friendly faces, but I still need to meet more.
Thank you again Janet and Adam for hosting. Mcgraw’s Pub for catering to us. To Candice G., welcome as the new CM for the South Bay. Sorry I couldn’t do this in person. He he he. And to Abby, congrats again and SYOY or at a YEE, CMYE, or UYE!

Yeah yeah yeah, another five-​star review, but any time you get fun-​loving Unilocalers together, it’s gonna be a five-​star event.
Especially when you have, not one, but *two* CMs in attendance. These two Illinois girls have quite a bit of contrast. Abby S, the former South Bay CM now moved to SF, the sweet girl-​next-​door with auburn hair and makes you happy to be with her. Candice G, the new South Bay CM, the loud party girl with orange hair who can be like one of the guys as well as one of the girls. Both were the life of the party, and both were made to feel welcome with us all.
Again, I walked into a Unilocal event having met only 0 – 1 person (in this case, Abby). And again, I walked out with a lot of new friends. Naturally, I was dangerous with my camera. And I finally met Unilocal star Denise L in person, in company with her boyfriend (who, it turns out, lives in my part of the Bay Area). The only sad part of the night was that McGraw’s is not a dance venue, so we couldn’t finally see Abby show her moves nor Candice demonstrate how bad she gets — and she’s probably not *that* bad of a dancer.
A long trek for me, but a good one. Looking forward to great YEEs and UYEs from these two CMs, hugs!

Wonderful send off party for Abby S. thanks to Janet O. and Adam D. (dynamic duo) for organizing an UYE, couldn’t have asked for a better Monday night. Loads of fun had by all. I can assure you that Abby will be in good hands in SF, something tells me she fits right in :) Candice G. will take good care of South Bay Yeeps and vice versa. Ultimately, it’s about being great people and bringing our communities together like last night, and Unilocalies do that extremely well.
Growing up in SF, I have only heard of Belmont — quite a hidden gem of a town. Although, shops and restaurants probably close at a certain time. Thanks to McGraw’s Bar & Grill for allowing us to take over the place on a Monday, despite SF Giants losing to the Colorado Rockies. Speaking of Colorardo, let’s team up and book our flights & hotels to Aspen for Unilocal’s Winter Break (YWB) and make this an unforgettable YWB for Abby S. come December 2014! RSVP

Farewell to Abby S — more than 30 SB Unilocalers mingled at McGraw’s Bar & Grill, a Scottish pub in Belmont. It’s always a grand time with all the fellow Unilocalers, and McGraw’s did a great job in serving pub food, Guinness, Twisted Whiskeys, and much stronger alcoholic beverages to the crowd. Unilocalers were mingling while playing shufflepuck and having cupcakes brought straight from SF by Christine.

Kudos to Janet O and Adam D for this crazy fun event. It’s always a fun, and loud, time when Unilocalers all get together especially over beer, chips and fried food goodness.

Great meeting everyone tonight!
My first time meeting Abby so it was sad to know this was the first and last event for me with her as CM. She’ll be great as SF! We’ll be in good hands as well as Candice upbeat personality brings life to today’s event. I’m sure we’ll see more of that!
Some pretty good bar food from McGraw’s. Ate a chili cheese dog and nice crispy fries. Shawn, the bartender was awesome too. Close to Off the Grid so I got to sneak out to grab a bite at Chariman Bao and E Sushi too.
Thank you Christine for getting Nothing Bundt Cake for us! It was delicious. One of my personal favorites of San Carlos.

Very fun UYE to celebrate with Abby S. as she goes from South Bay to SF CM! I actually just moved to the South Bay and just met Abby today. :(Wish I had got to go to events and met you sooner Abby!
We got to eat and drink lots of different food from burgers to fries to chicken tenders to mozzarella sticks. Some people have giant whiskey cocktails while I just chilled with my pint of Blue Moon… until Jan P. came and bought a pitcher of it for Amy T, himself and me. (Thanks bro.)
Anyways, I met many cool people tonight; you know who you are! I’m not the best at names so forgive me if I forget you at future events! LOL.
And thank you Janet and Adam for setting this up!!! It was very nice getting to chat with you two!

Awesome UYE hosted by Janet and pictures taken by Adam! You guys are great! I had the privilege of meeting Abby S. today who use to be South Bay’s CM but is now SF’s CM! Very cool gal and I know she will be awesome anywhere she is at!
Had a few bites of chicken tenders and chili cheese fries and a pitcher of blue moon with Gabriel N. And Jan P. (Thanks Jan! He’s too popular btw ;)) wish we came earlier for HH but nonetheless food was good and dranks were refreshing ;)
