Read the reviews and felt good about it. Came in for take out but couldn’t make up out of the parking lot. The carne asada tacos are GREAT! The smell was killing me so the tacos never made it home. Lol

Total serendipity. I dodged into the little parking lot next to Swahili to get out of the way of an ambulance and found myself in front of a little shop I had never noticed. So of course I pulled out my phone and checked the Unilocal reviews. Only two, and both reviewers seemed to be newbies. OK, let’s try it, expect three *** and hope for four. Tiny shop, counter with kitchen visible behind, soda cooler, five tables. Very limited menu. I opted for the short ribs platter and found a bottle of non-alcoholic sangria in the fridge. The nice lady behind the counter told me it would be about 12 minutes, and as I sat down I could hear the sizzle as meat met fire on the grill. The beverage was as advertised, tasted like sangria but with fizz and no bite. When the food was ready, I was pleasantly surprised by the portions — the platter almost covered the tray(see photo). Each taste elicited a new grin and chortle. Much like carne asada, the beef had been cut about ¼ inch thin, complexly marinated, and had a nice smoky char from the grill. The beans were nicely seasoned and cooked to point, as was the yellow rice with veggies. The pico de gallo was meaty and mild, big chunks of tomato with just enough onion and cilantro to balance it. The freshly grilled tortillas were home style, thick, soft, and with a whiff of the calcium hydroxide used to break down the masa. Nothing fancy, just good ingredients respectfully handled. Totally satisfying to palate, mind, and tummy. And to the wallet as well — $ 10 for the food, $ 2 for the sangria. Easy 5 ***** and I’ll be back to try the other dishes.

I live 5 minutes from here and lately I can’t stay away. The tacos are awesome. Pupusas are awesome. Carne Asada is awesome. Haven’t been let down yet and I’m trying not to spoil myself. Prices are great. Highly recommended!

I got Chicken tacos and one Beef Taco. They were full of flavor and the cabbage slaw was very tasty, as well. The place used to be gyro joint I liked going into for lunch. So we came across this place by mistake. Glad we did. The only down-fall. They don’t have air vents so it get cold during the winter and hot during the summer.
