We needed a part of our garage track replaced and the technician did a fantastic job! The price was fair, and the technician was genial, skilled and knowledgable. In addition to the main job, he answered all of our garage-​related questions. We’re really glad we called this company and if we ever need repair service again, we know who to ask for help. Overhead Door is highly recommended!

I called them to get an estimate in the morning, and they were installing two openers for me about 70 minutes after my call! Prices were comparable to what I had window-​shopped in the big box stores, but these guys were able to do same day installation. The technician was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. Installation time was only about 3 hours, and everything works great! The technician cleaned up everything as he went, walked us through the door and keypad operation, and answered all of our questions. Great service!

We contacted OHD to repair our warehouse overhead door. The motor on the door would not stop running. We were able to open and close the door, but would have to manually stop it when it came down. We called OHD 1÷12÷16 to repair the door, because we are a business, time was of the essence. They could not respond that day (we called at noon), so we agreed to have them come in the morning the following day. The following day they did not come by noon so we called them, we expressed our frustration and they promised to be there before 4pm when we closed. They arrived at 3:45pm. The technician who responded said that he was not told to be there in the morning, that it was not scheduled properly. He began inspecting the door and recommended that we disconnect the motor and operate the door manually. He stated that our door was extremely old, and that he «Had never seen anything like this before». At this point, during his examination he had somehow caused the door to only be able to go up half way. It was apparent to us that he was not qualified to be working on our door. We asked him to leave. We called the office and expressed our dissatisfaction, and told them to send a qualified person out to work on the door. Now, our door which previously would open up completely, would only open half way — preventing us from getting our trucks in and out of the warehouse. Which in turn, prevented us from being able to access our products. Opening our door manually is completely out of the question, the door weighs over a thousand pounds.
The following day no one came out or called from the office. It wasn’t until after we were closed, did someone contact us. At this point we irately explained our concerns and told them not to come back. We contacted the Fred C. Johnson Co., Inc. the following day. They came out the same day and repaired our door.
Two weeks later in the mail we received a bill from Fred C. Johnson and coincidentally a bill from OHD. Fred C. Johnson charged us $ 192.00 and OHD charged us $ 336.25. I contacted OHD and spoke with Matt who was very argumentative. He emailed me a copy of the work order which clearly stated that by signing it, we are responsible for paying the bill. Had the technician showed up according to the time we requested, the Manager would have never signed the bill as no services were provided. We are now forced to pay the bill, for this «service». I would NEVER recommend using this company.
*****UPDATE***** I left this review first thing this morning. Since then I was contacted by Willy White who apologized for our experience. He reviewed the whole situation with his employees present on the call. He assured me that if given another chance he would make sure we are taken care of the same day, they promise same day service. He also took care of our bill, and nothing is due. I appreciate his professionalism and the promptness of his reply to my concern. Unfortunately his team didn’t give me the same attention this morning. Hopefully it will not happen to anyone else. Thank you Mr. White.

We replaced our 80+ year old wood garage door with an insulated vinyl door. The door and installation cost $ 1250, which was competitive with other estimates. The new door works a lot better than the old one and, although the lock seems a bit flimsy, it’s performed fine in the 5 months since it’s been installed.
One worrisome issue is that no hardware store can duplicate the key. Overhead Doors charges 8 $ for blank new keys cost and are $ 15 to ship. Indicative of expensive repairs ahead or just an oddity?

What I expected to be a painful experience, turned out to be better than I could imagine. I called just looking for pricing on a new set of doors, and after a few minutes of asking questions, I was set up for a free consultation at my home. I was a bit cautious about doing this as I wasn’t sure I was ready to buy just at this time. I agreed since it was a free consultation about what options were available.
My appointment was two days later, and the sales rep, Al Constantino showed up at my home. He was professional, polite, and asked a lot of questions about why we wanted to replace our doors. He wasn’t pushy, and even told me about some less-​expensive options that were available to me. At no point did I ever feel like he was «selling» me anything, and had a ton of materials to show my wife and I. After our meeting he sent me a follow-​up email with a quote on what we had talked about. The pricing was exactly as he told me in the initial meeting, not a penny higher, and he ended the message by stating I could reach out to him if I had any questions. Again, no pressure which I hate from sales reps.
My wife and I waited a few days and finally agreed to move forward. We called and scheduled the delivery and setup. A little less than two weeks later the doors were installed by two technicians. They answered all of my questions, and the door was installed perfectly. It is so quiet you can barely hear it in our bedroom above the door. We opted for the thicker insulated doors which was such a smart move with the cold winter we have had. Our garage is easily 30 degrees warmer than before. In the past, we would pull our cars in after a snowstorm and the next morning all of the snow would still be on the car. Now, it is melted the next morning and we don’t have a heated garage.
The doors look awesome, and the price was right in line with what I was expecting to pay. If I can figure out how to post of picture of the doors, I will definitely do so because they really look great.

Incredibly frustrated, for two reasons:
1. When something breaks, it takes over a week to get a replacement part and we cannot use the door in the interim. That is not counting the time to diagnose the problem and then the time to install once the part arrives. All told, 2 weeks of down time.
2. We asked for pricing on spare parts (to help prevent issue #1), and they would not provide itemized costs for the parts requested — just a lump sum.
This may be a factor of the door manufacturer and not ODC (the dealer), but what is the difference when your door is not working and you have to wait 2 weeks for it to be fixed?

They called me within two hours to schedule an appointment for the next day. The tech. came on time and worked quickly to fix the problem. He replaced the two door sensors and the circuit board of the unit. They charged me a total of $ 366. $ 120 was for the first hour of labor, which they told me ahead of time. $ 240 was for the parts. After the tech. left, I went on an overhead door parts website, and found the same parts retailing for $ 120. So, they marked up the cost of their parts 100% of the RETAIL price.
UPDATE:
The owner of the company contacted me. He was intent on providing good customer service. He explained his rationale for his pricing and maintained that they are competitively priced in the market. We agreed to disagree on pricing, but I was appreciative that he contacted me to explain their prices and to see what he could do to offer good customer service.

We built our home which came with a garage door, but no garage door opener. Our builder gave us the option of them installing one but was severely over priced. We called Overhead Door Company of Washington DC and knew immediately that we called the right place! Tim the installer was out to see us the very next day. He went above and beyond to explain all the features of our new opener system. He took the time to walk us through all the safety devices, and even recommended an external keypad which we absolutely love! Tim was a true professional and left our garage cleaner than it was when he first arrived. Our entire experience with Overhead Door Company of Washington DC was fantastic! From the office staff who answered the phone to Tim the installer, as well as the product itself. We ended up paying less than half of what the builder offered and got a much better product. We still can’t believe how quiet the opener is! We have already recommended them to our new neighbors and would definitely recommend them to you as well!
