Bend Pet Resort

Will not return. During our last visit they apparently let my dog «fence fight» all weekend. He came to me with all the fur and much of the skin missing from the top of his nose. They didn’t even clean the wound. Makes me wonder if they even do the paid walks.

Last visit to Bend Pet Resort was a little odd. Come into the office to drop off our dog, sign the requisite paperwork. At the bottom of the form it asks for a budget if emergency services are needed for your pet. Fine, but too be honest, I always fill this in and am never quite sure what to put? I always hope that they will just call and we can figure it out. But, I get it, they need to know, that’s fine. I put $ 500 which is what I always put. The gal says «$ 500 doesn’t get you much for emergency services». Okay, that’s what I always put. The owner then says «so, if it’s over $ 500 we should have her put down?»
Wow, I’m speechless.

I took my dog to another pet resort in June 2014 in the Bend area and my dog came back with flees and a large dog bite on her backside, she would not play with us for a few days. She thought we punished her. So I found Bend Pet Resort and was a little afraid to leave my dog. When I went to pick her up 5 days later, she was having a hard time choosing between me and the nice young girl working at the resort. That told me this is a great place. The one thing I would like to see happen different is the pick up times. Most of the flights we can get are in the afternoon so we always have to wait and extra day to see our little girl. If pick up times could be schedule between 5 & 6 pm every day that would make this a 5 star resort for me.

This place is a joke! Not only did I get overcharged, the owner Ken wouldn’t let me see the kennel run where my dog had been staying when I got there to pick up my dog. He physically blocked me from going into the kennel building. Obviously hiding something. When they brought my dog out to me, my dog smelled like pee and poo and was very sick. It was only then that Ken told me about the days of diarrhea, a harsh contradiction to telling me that «everything was fine and your dog is happy» each time I called to see how my dog was doing. Nice. My dog ended up requiring very costly veterinary care and Ken could’ve cared less. Never asked how my dog was recovering. This guy is rude and, frankly, a total bully. All he cares about is money, money, money. I’m never taking my dog back there. Spread the word about this place to any and all dog owners.
I also agree with the other reviews when they say the day care is unsupervised. Every time I went there for any reason, the day care dogs had no toys, no one was watching them or playing with them. Pathetic.

I found Bend Pet Resort to use deceptive billing practices. I’ve used them twice and walked away each time scratching my head as to why the math didn’t add up. Their regular boarding rate for my dog is $ 15, yet this last time I used them for a weekend out-​of-​towner I was charged about $ 66, I believe, including the addition of one walk per day. I was expecting to be charged about $ 45. I thought it was strange that they didn’t offer me a receipt for their services each time I left. (red flag) Upon picking up my dog today I asked for an itemized receipt and found that for a two-​night boarding stay which amounted to 49 hours at BPR I was charged for 3 days and 3 walks… Something stinks here, not only do they not tell you they charge by the «day» and not give itemized receipts with every payment but they also have very inconvenient weekend hours (8 am to Noon Sat and only 5 pm to 6 pm Sun) Actually, to be accurate, we really only needed one night of boarding but because of their inconvenient weekend hours and being informed that dogs had to be picked up by 10 am on Saturdays we had to pay for an extra night… Ahem, excuse me, two days. They do offer «special «after hours pick up, but at a $ 30 charge. When I questioned the worker there about being charged by the day instead of by the night, like a Hotel rate, she said days start at 12 noon. But I dropped off my dog at 4:30 pm Friday and picked him up at 5:30 pm Sunday… Like I said. Since there are only so many reputable boarding establishments in Bend I can’t say I won’t ever be back but I definitely will only use them as a last option.

Been using Bend Pet Resort for years and years. Going on our third «generation» staying there.
I’m pretty sure they aren’t the original owners from when we first started going there, but the current owners have been running it the past few years and have done some upgrades.
We mostly use Bend Pet Resort for boarding… be it overnight or a week. However, they do offer daily service for people who just want their pets looked after while they are at work.
They have always taken excellent care of our dogs. Very kind and compassionate… especially as they get older. The proof is in the pudding and when our dogs LOVE to go there and get so excited they can barely contain themselves, what else can you say?
The first time we dropped off our current dog, she put the brakes on. Almost like going to the vet. Looked back and gave us this mournful look that just about broke our hearts. Now? She doesn’t even look back. She trots off with complete enthusiasm.
Why boarding? Because I trust them. Plain and simple, lots of people have volunteered to watch our dog but I don’t want to be upset with them IF something were to go wrong. Hard to be mad at friends and family but I can be mad at a business.
NOT that I have had occasion to be upset with Bend Pet Resort… they have always been very professional, fair and completely upstanding in all our dealings.
The only reason I am not giving them a five star rating is because I am a firm believer in being able to compare them with another business. Since they are the only boarding company I have used, I cannot in good faith give them a five.
Use Bend Pet Resort and you’ll feel confident that your loved ones are being kept safe, loved on and well cared for while you are out of town. It’s a nice feeling to not have to worry about them and you can enjoy your trip.
