Red Lion Inn

We had the unfortunate experience of getting a room that paralleled a busy street. Super loud traffic noise that came through an air conditioner with vents to the outside. The other side of the room was next to the Black Bear Diner. That traffic noise was also awful. The smoking area was right in front of the stairwell leading up to our room. So, in order to get to our room we had to hold our breath and zoom past. Lastly, the trains blasting through. The hotel is located less than a block from the train tracks. Learning experience for sure, I learned to do more research!

Always a good choice! Clean large rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff and a decent breakfast. This time we got a free upgrade on our room. It’s size and amenities make it feel plush. We were very pleased.

This hotel is quiet, clean, and in a good location. The bed is comfortable. Will stay at again.

The rooms are clean, it was quiet, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was good and the staff is friendly. We would stay here again.

I thought this hotel was perfect for what we expected. The room was clean and well kept: we got a double queen premium room with a fridge/​microwave. The staff was very attentive and friendly; the pool looked like a lot of fun (we didn’t have time to try it out); and the location is central to a lot of the town. We ended up walking from our hotel to old town Bend, and it didn’t take us any time at all to get there.
I thought the price was a bit expensive for what you get, but this may have been a factor of booking late (my fault… whoops).
They also offer a complimentary breakfast, which was perfect for not having to go find food right when we woke up. The food tasted fine (nothing special), and there was ample of it.
I would definitely stay here again.

Our family stayed here and loved the friendly staff and great breakfast. The beds were super comfortable and the pillows were awesome too. Complimentary waters and kind bars were offered to us upon check in. They offer complimentary bikes to those interested in getting around town… And the rooms were very spacious. They also offer use of a full size gym across the street… Sorta nice to use a real gym instead of the three pieces of gym equipment placed in a room stating that it’s the hotel gym.
Anyway, while it is not really a 5 star resort like the Four Seasons, I gave it 5 for the comfort, over-​all value, and attentive staff.

I didn’t get to stay at this hotel because I arrived in Bend when a bicycling race was in town. All the hotels in Bend Oregon were booked 100%. Cassie, the young lady working behind the front counter did her best to help me. She had a great attitude. For someone who wasn’t a customer of the hotel, I can’t say nicer things about her. She did her best to help me. Kudos to Cassie!

First time staying at this hotel in Bend. I can say I won’t be staying there again. Maybe it’s the little things, but sometimes that means the most. Without being longwinded, here is why the low rating:
1. Baseboard heating. Took FOREVER for the room to warm up with that ancient stuff.
2. Parking. Parking was full and there were a couple good spots that were coned off. I went to park there at 11:00 p.m. and was greeted by the clerk who told me I couldn’t park there because it was saved for the «workers» who were coming in the morning. I told her I would move it by 6:00 a.m. She said no, that I had to park on a dark street behind the hotel. Needless to say, when I walked out at 0700, 0800, and 0900 there were still no «workers» in that spot. Great customer service. NOT!
3. No internet connection. Thinking I wasn’t smart enough to know how to log into the wifi, I was directed to bring my «device» downstairs. I told them I tried with three devices and that wasn’t good enough. I watched as they entered the same thing I did and it not work. Duh! Then one said, «Well we did get an email about problems with the internet» and ended up giving me a generic «room number» to get it to work. Waste of time.
4. I called on three different occasions (dialed 0) and nobody answered except for a recording that the voice mailbox had not been setup yet. Really?
5. Ancient tv remote with no «Menu» button to allow one to look at the television channels again past the initial bootup of the television. Vary limited channels. I ended up watching my iPad which had more.
6. Room «appeared to be clean» but it had beds and chairs from the 1970’s. My wife saw a maid wiping out a water glass with a towel and putting it back, versus putting a clean one out.
All in all I would expect this in a Motel, but not a bigger brand hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a night with our dog. They allow pets, however be advised that they do not allow pets to be in the room unattended, even if kenneled (which ours was). The woman who checked us in was very nice and gave us complimentary bottled water, snack bars, dog treats, and a lint roller (something I’ve never seen, but an awesome idea for those traveling with pets). The room was more than adequate for the price paid and nicer than most Red Lions I have stayed at in the past. Furnishings were a bit dated, but not too bad and the bed sheets and towels were nice and clean.
The reason it wasn’t a 5-​star experience is because of a few issues. First off, when we went to use the hot tub it was fairly dirty and full of debris. To be fair, it is June and probably not many people use the hot tub this time of year, but it definitely hadn’t been cleaned in a few days. No biggie, we used it and enjoyed it anyway. The biggest issue came when we were called at dinner by the front desk advising us that our smoke alarm was going off. The woman who called (the same one that checked us in) was very nice and asked my permission to allow security to enter the room. Of course I gave that permission and was told we would get a call back regarding the situation. The call never came. We ended dinner early and hurried back to the hotel to make sure everything was okay. Everything turned out to be fine and no one knew why the smoke alarm went off. I spoke to the security guy who entered our room who told me he pulled the battery out. We left and continued on with our evening. When we returned our key didn’t work, frustrating, but understandable. My girlfriend, our dog, and myself all walked to the lobby to get a new key. The woman working (different from the one we had dealt with earlier) was less than enthused to see us. I told her we were the ones that had a smoke alarm issue and that our key wasn’t working and she made some kind of a grunt, grabbed a set of keys with a hand written sticky note on them, pealed off the note, and handed me the keys without saying a word… no «I’m sorry», no «sorry for the inconvenience», nothing. When we entered our room we found our smoke detector ripped out of the wall, battery removed, and sitting on our bathroom counter. As someone who travels a lot, I know this is illegal, let alone just unprofessional. All this after a recent hotel fire in Oregon that burned down the entire hotel. I didn’t care that much, but it’s a little unnerving knowing you have no smoke detector in your room.
The next morning while checking out I mentioned to the front desk that the smoke detector had been removed by security to which I was questioned as to why, when, and informed that they had «never heard of that before», and «usually people rip them out when they want to smoke in the room». The person didn’t flat out accuse us of smoking in the room (which we didn’t, neither of us as smokers), but I got the impression they were inferring that.
Overall what started as a 5-​star experience has dropped to a 3-​star because of the lack of communication during the smoke alarm incident (we were never called back or advised our room keys would no longer work), the unprofessional manner in which it was remedied (rip it out of the wall and disable it), and the unfriendly/​accusatory staff.
Lastly I want to say that most of the staff I encountered were very, very kind and it was only a few individuals who provided poor service (I wish I remembered their names). Also, this hotel obviously takes pride in providing excellent service and I believe they do so on a regular basis. I have a feeling that we just caught them on a bad night and dealt with a few bad apples. I would stay here again and hope to. Hopefully my next experience is improved and I can give them the 5-​stars I want to.

Rite Qik: Front lobby is gorgeous. Staff were all efficient and friendly (even the lady who had to run breakfast for a full hotel with lots of middle and high schoolers!) Rooms looked nice but weren’t all clean properly.
Loved: The lobby (it was inviting and cozy) and the night person working it. He was quick, patient, friendly and approachable. Complimentary breakfast has waffles, bacon and eggs that were good. Pool and hot tub at this site.
Deal breaker: Hair on my child’s bedroom sheets and pillow case…(Here I had to breathe a be a good example to my kid). Lots of different type hairs on the cloth between sheets and mattress. Looks like it hadn’t been change since 5 guests ago Also in my room the bathroom had hairs in and on the toilet and on the top part of the walls in the shower. So my roommate and I had to clean the bath room with wet wipes before we could use it
So if you don’t mind re-​cleaning your bathroom and changing your sheets upon check in. Then this hotel will work for you.

Staff was friendly and was well priced. The 1^st room we had was terrible, we could hear the neighbors fighting. It sounded as though they were next to us. I went down to the front desk and they moved us right away. The second room was much better but had a weird smell to it. The breakfast was pretty good… eggs potatoes, bacon and sausage. Fresh fruit, cereal and waffles. The coffee was gross but the oj was delish. The outside of the hotel was run down. Plenty of parking. Water pressure in the shower was bad.

Came up to Bend with my son to go skiing at Mount Bachelor. We needed an inexpensive place to stay in this place was only 89 bucks. The receptionist was very helpful and getting me that low price by recommending I join their club online. Room was very nice clean beds comfortable and plenty of pillows.
My son agrees we would stay here again.

My first stay at a Red Lion Inn and the whole experience was enjoyable, although it was only for one night. Checked in without a reservation; asked about an AAA discount (which they have) but discovered for only $ 10 more I could upgrade to a nicer room and King sized bed.
I don’t stay in fancy places, but I appreciate attention to comfortable details– the room was clean, spacious, with working appliances and electronics. Bathroom was clean with lots of soft towels, nice smelling toiletries and the shower had plenty of hot water with good pressure. Beds and pillows were comfortable and the room stayed toasty warm despite freezing temperatures outside. Free Wi-​Fi had a strong signal. Bonus was discovering a check out time of noon, which allowed us to venture out for breakfast and return to our room to pack up the car. The complimentary breakfasts at any motel chain never appeals to me. The only item I sampled was coffee which was sub-​par. Very nice front desk staff.
I’d stay here again!

Comfortable and clean beds. Quiet and a good nights sleep. Very close to downtown. Nice furnishings for a red lion. My only complaint would be that the bathroom was not spotless.

Stayed here on a 2 week road trip with my boyfriend. We got a good deal, I think it was $ 60 for the night. The room included breakfast from 6−9am which was great. Breakfast included fresh made waffles, eggs, potatoes, bacon, cereal, tea, coffee, juice, oatmeal, muffins, and bread. The room was comfortable and clean. We had 2 beds, cable TV, and wi-​fii. Checking in and out was easy. We stayed here after visiting Crater Lake. It’s about 1.5 hours north of Crater Lake. It’s a normal sized small city so there was a lot around to eat.
We got a good deal using Priceline and I would stay here again if in the area. Never stayed at Red Lion before but that seems to be the chain for Northern California going up to Oregon.

I have requested early check in because of my two year old. No doubt I didn’t get in right away they were able to accommodate my request one hour after being there. Make sure you call in the day before if you have special request for anything so it doesn’t lead to any surprises. The front desk staff told me they don’t usually accommodate in the summer time because it is usually busy.
We stayed near the pool which was convenient and not loud at all. I have a kid so it was perfect. We were impressed by how fast they cleaned our room. We left for breakfast and immediately came back to a clean and tidy room. :) Also, our room was big and spacious with two double beds which was a value deal.
As for the free breakfast, it was ok! Waffles was the best part of their breakfast. Recommend coming early from 8−830am to avoid prime time with people waiting in line and no seating. We got lucky on both days:) because we came early!

I made reservations here, for $ 135 a night. I got a room next to the pool (loud), two double beds (I was by myself and reserved a king sized bed in a room), and a very tiny bathtub.
The beds were, however, quite comfortable.
HBO had a good run of movies to watch.
But when I arrived, there was no hot water.
…it was alright. I paid too much for my room, though, in my opinion. I could have paid the half the price for the same level of service.

My major issue with this hotel was the parking. We stayed for a week, and any night we showed up after 8:30PM, we had to hunt for a parking spot in the lot. I realize space is limited so I’m not sure there’s anything they could do, but it’s not a great feeling to wonder if you’ll even be able to park at your hotel.
Aside from that, the hotel was just a standard hotel. Nothing super special, and definitely nothing horrible. The breakfast was actually pretty awesome for a free hotel breakfast!

Booked this hotel through Priceline. It was a good deal and the room was nice. The beds are really comfy. The one downside is that it takes a while for the heater to start warming up the room. The lobby is really nice looking with a couple of couches/​love seats along with a tv. Also saw free cookies and coffee/​hot chocolate out all day.
Location was very convenient to downtown Bend. The hot breakfast was very good. I tend to have fairly low expectations of the hot breakfasts most hotels provide so I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety and quality. We even got a chance to use the hot tub after a day of skiing which was good.
Overall, a good place to stay for a couple of nights and the free breakfast is pretty good.
