Experience. Excitement. Adventure. Community.

That’s what we’re all about here at Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe. We’re your locally owned and operated paddling shop creating life-long paddlers for over a decade. Visit us at our retail store and learning center, located right on the banks of the Deschutes River, just downstream from the Old Mill. Sign up for classes, take a full-day river tour, or browse the largest selection of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, canoes and rafting gear in Central Oregon.

Our staff has over a hundred years of combined experience exploring remote coastlines, leading sea kayaking tours from Mexico to Alaska, and navigating some of the world’s most challenging whitewater. And while we love to share our stories, we’re most interested in hearing yours: Let’s get you out on the water with the knowledge, skills and gear you need to enjoy a safe and comfortable afternoon paddle or a full-on sea expedition. And then make sure to come back and tells us all about it.

Meet the Business Owner

Geoff F.

Business Owner

Fishing on the Clackamas as a teen sparked Geoff Frank’s interest in moving water. Watching boaters in Bob’s Hole eventually led to white water kayaking and then in 1995, to a job at Alder Creek. Geoff is the owner and general manager of Tumalo Creek as well as a 2-star award BCU and ACA certified Advanced Whitewater, Swiftwater Rescue and Open Water Costal instructor.

Geoff has lived in Bend for ten years, originally moving here to open Alder Creek’s Bend store in 2000. He has 17 years of kayaking, rafting and canoeing experience — 15 of those as an instructor or guide. His experience includes many multi-day self contained tours including a 28-day trip through the Desolation Sound; a multi-week tour through Broughton Archipelago & the Gulf Islands in British Columbia; and a 2-month trip from Santa Rosalia to La Paz, Mexico.

Geoff loves sharing the experience of kayaking with his friends and customers and his goal is create lifelong paddlers who live to get out on the water.
