We specialize in computer system diagnoses, smog repairs, high performance repairs, front or rear differential repairs, engine repair or replacement. We cover all ranges of Automotive repair. We can also assist customers if the vehicle is covered under a factory warranty by contacting the dealership and checking for any recalls.

Established in 1986.

Chris started the company in a small shop in Benicia, Ca, and has grown to a 10,000 sq ft. Automotive facility. It’s a family owned shop that prides itself on quality repairs at a fair price.

Chris & his guys are amazing. Adam was very helpful. Also this gal who I spoke with for a short while about my car was very helpful and very knowledgeable of the work they’d perform & vehicles in general. Took my car here for a simple oil change (I work a few minutes away) and point inspection, was given a ride back to my job, work performed in an hour or two, called me to take my card over the phone & summarize the service, went over some things they found (went into detail about methods of repair & level of importance) then they dropped the car back off at my office! Wow! Have never been to an auto shop like this before.

Mostly decent work, but be conscious of their rates and the services needed… some are a good deal, while others are more expensive than the dealership. I received a great price on a radiator replacement, but they ultimately band-​aided a different problem related to the emissions system (unbeknownst to me) that cost me $ 200 on top of paying for the needed repairs at a dealership. In the latter case, Chris’ quote for the needed repair was at least $ 100 more. They also charged me 20 bucks for a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil that is roughly $ 2.50 at MalWart (perhaps they were thinking of a gallon?).

We’ve been taking our two cars to Chris’ Engine for over 5 years now. We’ve had nothing but positive service. They’re always so helpful. I don’t know what that other negative review is talking about. Their customer service has been and is great. We always get our car back that day– unless there’s something big– like our timing belt– that needed service. And they’re great mechanics.

My husband and I have been customers for about 5 years and they used to be great but the past 2 years or so has been declining. They are good mechanics but the customer service is horrible. For example if you call for a quote you have to be on them to get it. We requested a quote over a month ago and still have heard nothing back. Also if you take your car in for something simple like spark plug replacement don’t expect to get your car back the same day or even a phone call to say they won’t be done. We have been customers that spend a few thousand a year at this place and they don’t appreciate their customers at all anymore. I don’t know if they have new management or what is going on but I would not recommend them and I will be changing mechanics.

I’ve been a customer of Chris’ Engine & Auto Repair for the past five years. I’ve always been very well treated and given full explanations of what needs to be worked on, when it will be finished and cost of repairs. If the repairs cannot be completed soon, I’ve always been given a ride home and picked up again when repairs are finished. I would recommend their service to anyone. Jerry W. Collins
