Synergetic Sound and Lighting offers live event production services including audio, lighting, and video systems, as well staging and draping, to customers who are producing events for up 5000 attendees. Our typical customer commissions us to work on a variety of events, such as corporate fundraising galas, ultra chic weddings, or intimate concerts for 2500 people.

We are obsessed with making our shows look, sound, and feel awesome. Every single member of our team is crazy about this business! We love what we do, and it shows in the level of service you get from us. We thrive off creating different and unique designs which people love, but we also are very good at listening to what you want. Listening to what you want allows us to be as effective and efficient as possible, two very important traits in our world.

History

Established in 1999.

Formed in 1999 by Jason Weldon, Synergetic Sound + Lighting set out to be a small entertainment company offering big-​time customer service.

As Synergetic gained momentum, Jason started building a team of DJs. These entertainers recognized that the spotlight belonged to the host/​hostess and their guests. A unique DJ experience was served, but there was even more to come.

Client demand for production services prompted Synergetic to invest in high-​end lighting and audio/​visual equipment. We could now offer complete entertainment and production services to our clients. The stage was set for growth.

In 2010 we moved into our 10 000 sq. ft. studio. The facility is home to our full-​time staff & comfortable offices for meeting with clients. We even have a live demo studio where clients can preview lighting, A/​V setups, and live DJ sessions. We’re big now, but we haven’t forgotten our roots: we still offer the best in entertainment & production, plus customer service that can’t be matched.

Jason is from Philadelphia. He started his DJ career while earning a degree in communications at Temple University. As his reputation grew he received invites to DJ at some of Philly’s hotter clubs. In 1998 he started Synergetic.

Extremely passionate about music, Jason is the kind of DJ who lets the music do the talking; you won’t hear him on the microphone all night.

Synergetic did the lighting for our wedding — amber uplighting, pin-​spotting, dance floor wash, and a wall GOBO. Everything was absolutely beautiful — it really made the room glow and all of the flowers pop, completely created just a cool environment all around. All night, there was a staff member on hand, adjusting dimmers and making sure everything was just right. Working with Stephen was great, he even gave us a discount since they were doing another wedding on the following night and we were sharing much of the same equipment. A++ for service and an awesome product.

Our 4th of July wedding 2015 was the best party/​wedding ever solely due to Jim & his team at Synergetic Sounds! My husband & I had one priority for our wedding — make it the best party our friends/​family could have experienced & we totally pulled it off thanks to the DJ. When you meet Jim & his team for a consultation, he won’t just go over a contract with you — he’ll show you the company space in it’s entirety — props, staging, setup options, meeting the tech guys, & best of all, Jim’s studio. It was so cool meeting him & seeing him sample his work within 5 minutes of meeting him. Jim is beyond professional & will give you everything you’re looking for in a music package. Many of my friends have used Synergetic for their weddings in the past & once we heard their work it was a no-​brainer. Jim’s team was more than accommodating — I wanted to walk down the aisle to a string version of Jurassic Park & Synergetic made it happen! Everyone from the 10year olds to the 80year olds were dancing the entire night — a testament to their skills in hitting music that everyone would enjoy. The music is one of the most important parts of your wedding day. You want all of your guests to have a great time. That includes the bride and groom. We are a dancing couple and have a ton of family and friends who love to dance. When I found and read about Synergetic Sound & Lighting I knew I had to check them out. The one thing that separated them from all the other DJ’s is that we were able to meet with our DJ in person and confirm if it was the best fit for our wedding. We also were able to hear and see our DJ mix beats which was totally cool! This sealed the deal for me and had me so excited to party!!! Chris played our wedding and was amazing!!! We hired Synergetic to do the lighting for our wedding reception. Our venue and wedding planner both recommended Synergetic. Our reception was in a beautiful, large ballroom and Synergetic did an amazing job of making the ballroom feel warmer by using uplighting. We also had a dance floor wash and pinspotting on our centerpieces. They were incredibly easy to work with and very responsive. After inquiring with them about their services, they sent an informational email that included videos of what uplighting can do. They even came to our venue (for no extra charge) on the day that I was there to design our tablescapes to do a lighting demo. This made it so easy to determine exactly the kind of lighting that we needed. I know they have a showroom too to demonstrate their uplighting, but I never visited the showroom. Overall I highly recommend them! Uplighting is a wedding necessity (in my opinion) and Synergetic did an amazing job!

Lighting… this was one of those things that we initially assumed we would not get for our wedding. We already had a beautiful venue with great light fixtures. Who needs more, right? Then we thought about how it would look in photos, and realized it would probably be worth it. And guess what? like most things you end up spending more-​money-​than-​you-​planned-​on for at your wedding, it was 100% worth it and 1000% amazing. On the recommendation of the staff at our wedding venue, we got in touch with SS and never looked back. We got soft amber uplighting and a dance floor wash so people would be more encouraged to hit the floor, which they DID. We were beyond thrilled with Stephen Abbonizio, who was a total professional, responsive, friendly and incredibly helpful at all times. Yes, it was an added expense, not a huge one, but they all add up. I get that. But we were not sorry! The room looked unbelievable… magical, really. Thanks, Stephen. You’re awesome!

One of my bridesmaids’ uncles work for Synergetic, and thank goodness she suggested I give them a call about our wedding. We met with some pretty bad DJs before going to Synergetic at her suggestion, and once we got there it was an easy decision.
Kurt was our main DJ and he was professional, fun, good-​humored, and enthusiastic throughout every step of the process. He offered plenty of sage advice about weddings in general, made the meeting a fun one, and more importantly, made the wedding a great party for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to Kurt, there was PLENTY of dancing, little commentary, and everything moved on a timely schedule. We never had to worry about a thing and got to focus on enjoying ourselves and the party.
The amber uplighting provided by Synergetic enhanced the room, and they worked behind the scenes with our wedding coordinator and florist to make it all come together. Anyone in the market for a DJ can get so much more than just music, from the people at Synergetic, and are absolutely guaranteed an awesome and beautiful affair with no stress and LOTS of fun.

Synergetic came recommended from our caterer for our wedding and couldn’t be easier to work with. Even though we ultimately kept it simple with some up-​lighting and a dance floor wash, they had lots of creative ideas and options for us. Prices were good, professionalism was top-​notch, and they were responsive and delivered as promised. They even worked with our florist to string up firefly lights, a task that sorta spanned the DIY/​florist/​lighting range. A lot of vendors, we were surprised to find, require chasing — for call backs, meetings, etc., and Synergetic did not. To sit back and let them do their job, knowing they’d take care if just fine, was a big relief.

I’ve been working in the wedding business for seven years now in the Philadelphia area. Synergetic Sounds is by far the best DJ and lighting/​AV company hands down. They have DJed multiple events for my family and friends and always keep everyone up and dancing the whole night. I personally have worked with almost all of their DJs and every single one is 100% professional and awesome at their jobs. Fantastic company. I have never heard one bad comment about them from any brides I’ve worked with in the past 7 years, only positive feedback.

We are so thankful to Synergetic — espeiclally our DJ, David Stocklos — for providing us with everything we needed for the perfect event! It’s been a few weeks since our reception at Grounds for Sculpture on 9÷21÷13, and I still can’t stop thinking about how amazing the night was, largely due to Synergetic!
I knew as soon as I met David Stocklos in person that he knew exactly what he needed to do to create the perfect soundtrack to our event. What I didn’t know was that 1. he’s one of the kindest, most fun people I’ve ever met, and 2. that he would pretty much personally coach me through the stressful week leading up to our reception. (I’m sure most people deal with a lot of stress in the days leading up to their wedding, but our case involved not only a couple of rogue invitees/​wedding party members, but also a very serious [and unexpected] illness in the family. Not to mention a lot of travel and not much sleep. And by «not much sleep» I mean virtually none.) I would call David in a panic, and by the end of our talk, he would have me convinced that he could handle anything. And so could I.
On the actual day of the event, David was amazing. He not only played the PERFECT set of songs to keep the guests dancing, but was also adaptable and tailored the night to whatever Calvin (my husband) and I felt was right in the moment. He also (importantly) reminded us to eat dinner, and had brought us redbull earlier in the day to prevent us from passing out at our own reception. :)
Not only was David fantastic — EVERYONE we interacted with at Synergetic was great! Kelly and Nikki laid the foundation for our event, and were helpful, patient and kind every step along the way. Skip, our second DJ, also did a great job! And our guests couldn’t get enough of the photo booth we rented through Synergetic! And the lights MADE the room. I really can’t say enough good things about the whole Synergetic experience! I would recommend Synergetic to ANYONE!!!

Could not have been more glad that we booked Synergetic Sounds for our entertainment at our wedding reception! DJ Chris surely delivered and really did an excellent job of mixing up the music between old and new!
Everyone having a good time and dancing was really the most important thing for us at our wedding! We did not want some cheeses DJ who was more interested in being the center of attention than playing good music for our wedding. Our wedding was at the Curtis Center in May through the Cescaphe event group and Chris easily worked in combination with them to make our night flawless. Ask anyone who attended our wedding and they will tell you that they danced the whole night!

We used Synergetic Sounds as our DJ company for our wedding at JG Domestic in the CIra Centre.
I emailed the company telling them what I was looking for in a wedding DJ. The office manager put me in touch with Matt Bowyer based on availability and our desired DJ style and strategy. After we talked about expectations and his approach I decided to go with Matt for the wedding.
My experience with the Synergetic Sounds office was very positive. They were well organized with clear and effective processes. They were proactive and flexible when it was required.
My experience with the DJ, Matt, was extremely positive. He was professional and responsive. We had a meeting a couple weeks before the wedding which was during the busiest time of the year for him. He did not hesitate to agree to get together. We discussed musical taste and how we wanted the night to flow.
Matt was excellent during the wedding. The night flowed perfectly and exactly as we had discussed. The music he played was perfect. The dance floor was full before dinner started and remained packed for at least 3 hours.
Every wedding guest who commented on the music and DJ only had very positive remarks. Matt definitely helped make it a memorable evening.

We used Synergetic for their uplighting wall wash and floor wash for my son’s wedding. We had found of picture of a wedding they had done at the same venue and room. I sent the picture to them inquiring on price. We paid $ 1100. However the room did not look at all like the picture and we really noticed this when we received the professional pictures back. It looked ok/​average. I paid the extra money thinking it would not be typical. The DJ would have done the uplighting with initials for around $ 500. In retrospect after seeing the professional pictures, we feel they were overpriced and we paid too much. The venue put the tiny lights around the two beams which without them, I believe it would have been very plain.

DJ Chris kept our wedding hopping! My wife and I attempted to go table to table to greet all of our guests but were happy to see that it was a futile effort because all of our guests were on the dance floor! I saw moves from my parents and in-​laws that I wouldn’t have even dreamed they possessed!
We gave Chris a short list of songs that we wanted played and gave him free reign after that. He did not disappoint and kept everyone thoroughly engaged. So much so that we didn’t allow him to leave when he was scheduled to that night. He was happy to keep playing late into the night (we were happy to compensate that. He earned it).
We got compliments from everyone on how great the music was. Thanks so much for helping to make our reception unforgettable! I highly recommend these guys.

Biggest rip off
Dj showed up on time and was dressed nice but had no idea how to use his own equipment…
cut father/​daughter song after 30 seconds instead of 3 mins. played boring songs that did not get the guests dancing simply couldn’t read the crowd.

I hired Synergetic to DJ my wedding, and they were great.
I presented them with a bit of a challenge: I needed a DJ in three separate locations (all within the same facility) and due to a fussy husband, not your typical wedding music. Oh– and I needed a contract, and I needed professionalism. Call me crazy.
We met with Chris about 2 months before, and he was helpful, informative and professional. We signed the contract for a 2 person DJ team package due to the many locations needed for the event.
I conversed with Joan over the phone several times, and they always got back to me in a reasonable amount of time. Im super non-​decisive, and I kept changing the songs I wanted, or couldn’t decide at all. The entire team was awesome, and rolled with my punches.
Big Day rolls around, and Chris came super early, was dressed impeccably, set up everything with his right hand man, and executed the ceremony flawlessly.
FLAWLESSLY.
Im not even kidding. Im normally really detail oriented, but with all the wedding planning, I only had time to give him a rough draft of the ceremony plans/​music once. Once was apparently more than enough, because he totally nailed it. IMO, that was totally worth the cost of the entire shindig. NAILED IT. This dude deserves a raise.
The rest of the night went well, I loved the music played, and my guest seem to have a good time as well. There were several lulls in the dance floor, but Chris did his best to get people dancing.
My only complaint is that I chose the more expensive 2 dj package, because I didn’t want there to be a lag in music as guests moved from the ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception. To my surprise, the cocktail hour music was merely a cd that i provided pumped thru the venues sound system. So… did i need to spend the extra 400 bucks? Maybe, im sure (hoping) there was some behind the scenes stuff going on that i wasn’t aware of, so i’m sure there was some value provided for the extra cash, but if i had to do it again, i would opt for the one dj package.
All in all– this is a great company to use if you are having a party.

At a recent Phillies tailgate, DJ Dan Esteves did a wonderful job keeping the rhythm and flow fun and generally family-​friendly (there were kids present). His song selection kept the crowd awake and excited, and there were a few appropriate for the sporting event. The final selection was a good ending song, but sadly I don’t remember much from the event — it was a busy day! Not sure how the DJ and/​or his organization (Synergetic Sounds and Lighting) got picked, but I sent a note to the tailgate organizer with my compliments.
If you need a DJ for an event, Synergetic has great equipment and the DJ was a professional. Recommended.
