M & W Tire

I called and asked Don for recommendations for tires for my Muruno. He recommender a particular tire which I had him install. When I got home I checked the tires on the web and read that people were not happy with the winter performance. I called Don again and he explained that the tires that I got were new based on poor reports from previous years. I had 30 days to try them out and he would change the tires if I was not satisfied. I tried them for a month – and I am very satisfied. They may be the best tires I’ve ever had. Thank you Don.

The short version: a happy customer who’s been coming here for fifteen years and four cars. Honest repair shop combined with decent (though small) waiting area AND a nice bathroom.
The slightly longer version: they do specialize in tires, and they do a decent job of that. But they also will fix (and are qualified to do so) a range of the expected maintenance repairs, from fluids and filters to water pumps and tie rod ends.
Perhaps equally important: As a person of the female gender, I’ve always felt comfortable coming here.

These guys helped me out as I was driving in from Chicago to take my elderly mother out for lunch and had a nail in my tire. They took my car quickly, even though they were clearly busy. They even had a loaner that had just become available and I was able to take my mother to lunch in it while they fixed my car! And the price couldn’t have been better. Thank you, Jim, for a great customer service experience that is probably unheard of in Chicago! When I need another set of tires, it’ll be worth the trip to go here.

I came in due to hitting debris on the road which left me stranded near Benton Harbor. While the guys initially seemed nice and helpful, they totally lied to me about how long it would take. I got there around 10am to replace two tires and they didn’t have them in stock. They told me by 1:30pm, they should have the tires and would get them on immediately. Of course, this is a long time, but I understand that they can’t help how long it takes for the delivery guy. I don’t fault M & W for this part at all.
By 3pm (a full hour and a half from the time I was given), they finally got them in. Had they told me that it would take until 3pm to get the tires, I wouldn’t have been upset at all. However, because they didn’t update me, I had no idea. I had to ask and he told me 2:30. This was also untrue, because he didn’t get there til 3pm. Guys, don’t lie to your customers. Give us the worst case scenario upfront, otherwise it looks like you’re lying or lacking knowledge.
What made this worse was that they then took a half hour to even begin working on my car AFTER getting the tires in. The bays were full, I get that. However, when you know you’ve had someone sitting there for 5 hours, you might want to make them a priority. Be proactive, call your delivery guy, and set a bay aside because of it. That’s what true client service is. I agree with the other Unilocaler who said that they pay you lip service and not actual service.
Would never come back here willingly. I’ll also be letting my insurance company know that so they don’t continue to recommend this place.

This place is outstanding! Very knowledgable and extremely fast service! We were traveling through the area when my SUVs rear tire blew out. Luckily we found the m&w…thank you for getting my family back on the road!

The crew at MW took great care of me and my 99 Suburban. Oil change, front brakes, all four tires, and a trailer brake controller. The pricing was all very competitive and they got my vehicle in for our appointment very quickly.
We relaxed in the waiting room with TV/​Wifi and free popcorn.
You can’t go wrong with this crew. Very respectful and honored the $ 20 off four tires discount.

We knew there was a problem when the electrical system warning light came on around noon on I-​94, half-​way between Chicagoland and Ann Arbor, MI, where our grandson’s grade school «graduation» started at 7 PM. We were directed to M & W, and these really are good guys. They found the alternator for our 2007 Toyota Avalon in Indiana, installed it and had us back on the road in 2 hours. Now, this is not a purchase that one can negotiate price, but all in all we think the price was fair and the service was great. We were treated well, and the amenities in their waiting area were excellent, including a cell phone charging station with all kinds of plugs, comfortable sofa and plush chairs, clean, well appointed restroom, free coffee, cookies, fruit and popcorn.
While we hope to never need their help again, we strongly recommend M & W to readers in the Benton Harbor area.

I’m all in favor of supporting local business, on top of that, giving someone more than one chance. Unfortunately, after purchasing new tires, coming in for a ‘free’ rotation, and then for a warranty repair on a flat, all three trips have been more than frustrating. It seems as if they have no problem giving you a time to come in, but I’ve had to sit for more than an hour all three trips before my vehicle even makes it into the shop to get looked at. Customer service is lip service. There are plenty of tires shops in Benton Harbor and surrounding, I’m headed elsewhere next time.

Great shop. The service I have received here can only be found in a small town. I’m very happy to be able to get in and out of here on a Saturday morning on a first come, first served basis. The shop is very honest and they have earned my business for life.

I was told to go here because they are supposedly good and they warranty their work. My opinion of them was not good and I think women in general should avoid places like this. They are over priced because of their warranty on their work and and always find something else wrong with your car that you need to drop another grand on. Yah, and I’ll pass on a place that has people who don’t know how to properly put back on wheel covers. None of my clips were broke and every single one had clips broke off when they took the wheel covers off and when putting them back on they tried to clip the wheel cover back on over the clips that broke off. So my covers were falling off and I lost one. So they cost me money having to replace the one that fell off. Tire place my butt… wheel covers are pretty simple… if they can’t master that I wouldn’t want them touching anything else on my vehicle. Will never go here again and would recommend to others not to.
