Berkeley Plaza

Thank you Berkeley Plaza! From the moment we came to check out this place, all the way until we left the venue on our wedding night, our expectations were blown away. The staff at Berkeley Plaza make you feel at home and treat you like family. The space is gorgeous and spacious, all decked out with towering centerpeices, built-​in up lighting, and beautiful China. The lighting on the dance floor was perfect… Oh and the dinner! I had the salmon and it was so delicious! Seriously, no one will go hungry at this place. The cocktail hour appetizers were so fun and delicious. Many of our guests were surprised and amazed that they had more food ahead of them when they were ushered into the grand ballroom! Michael was our Maitre’D, and he took such good care of us. I felt so relaxed with my husband and our bridal party throughout the night since Mike made sure we practiced our entrances… And ensured that we all had time to rest and refuel. We never had to worry about anything. My wedding reception was a blast thanks to the staff at the Berkeley Plaza. So so grateful!

We got married in November of 2014. Jim was a wonderful guy (owner) who took care of most of our needs. We worked closely with Gina throughout the many months of our planning. The food was raved about with many of our guests. Last minute, our maitre D (Mike) had an emergency so we were put with another person, Diane. The bakery shop that they partner with for the wedding cake was also delicious.
Pros: they were very accommodating and made us feel special on our occassion. The venus also only handles one wedding at a time so you know your party is exclusive (even though they have many rooms). This was a significant reason why we chose this banquet hall. You don’t want strangers mingling from a different party.
Cons: there aren’t many surrounding areas to take pictures

Great event space. We had our high school reunion there. It was an excellent experience, wonderful food, ambiance and staff. From the entryway to the beautifully lit and appointed room, it couldn’t have been a nicer evening. A special thank you to owner Jim Wolklin and staff for orchestrating the event.

We got married at Berkeley Plaza in May of 2015. We had both our ceremony and reception here. The Berkeley Plaza was decorated beautifully and the food was great. All of our family and friends raved about how nice the reception was. Our Maître D’, Mike, was a pro. He was on top of everything. The wedding ran smoothly thanks to Mike and all his staff’s hard work. I would definitely recommend The Berkeley Plaza to other brides. The staff is very helpful and the atmosphere is perfect for a wedding.

I was looking forward to attending a banquet dinner here. It has been many yrs since I booked several functions and parties at The Berkeley Plaza.
The staff was friendly and they did a good job removing old plates.
What I think was most disappointing was the food. The food years ago was always delicious. I think it was mediocre quality. The food was served banquet style with an assortment of different dishes. The tortellini was ok and the sauce reminded me of ragu. A lot of people sitting at my table felt the same. The fresh pasta with tomato was cold even though it was heated in a skillet, and the pasta was very hard. I love al dente pasta but this was too hard.
The stuffed shells were good, also the chicken Marsala was tender. I enjoyed the array of fresh veggies with melted butter. The salad that was offered was a spring green mixture. On the same table was artichoke hearts, and broccoli rabe. I was excited to see the broccoli rabe but it should have been sautéed in garlic, oil, and crushed red pepper. This had garlic but it also had a sour taste of vinegar, not a good combo with a bitter green. I appreciated that they offered breaded chicken strips and french fries for picky eaters.
All the food was replenished promptly .
The best thing I ate was dessert. It was a chocolate cake roll filled with vanilla cream and surrounded by chocolate sauce.
The coffee was Luke warm and tasted stale. i tried to make it light with cream but I couldn’t get it right.
The Berkeley Plaza itself is very pretty with its crystal chandelier, gazebo outside with the fountain. The room was large and comfortable. I could see holding a Christmas party or large function here.
I think The Berkeley Plaza could be a great place again if they improve their food quality, and keep the hot food hot. This would go along way.

My sister had her wedding at the Berkeley Plaza in 2012. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and Mike made sure that she did not need to worry about a thing. We were so impressed that I also booked my wedding there.

It’s a nice place for a company function (holiday party). Their food is good (buffet style each time I have been there). Sampled: sushi (yes sushi) which wasn’t good, Their desserts are very good (yes I have a sweet tooth). The staff is friendly and not in your face as I have experienced elsewhere. I will be going to a wedding here in the next couple of months so I will update my review at that time.
