Specialties

The biggest party on the 4th is at the Berkeley Marina, noon-10PM with all kinds of free fun! Adventure Playground, always a favorite, where children can use hammers, nails, saws, and paint with parental supervision, is open until 8PM. Get your face painted, try the giant slide, or splash in the water at the beach. Stay for the fireworks at night!

There’s live music from noon until 9:30PM so come on and dance. Tucked in here and there discover Afro Cuban Drummers, steel drummers, face painters, and balloon twisters. In Shorebird Park spend the afternoon with magicians and clowning on The Buddy Club Stage.

There’s food trucks and booths, handmade crafts, free dragon boat rowing from 12−5PM, live pony rides, a petting zoo, Nerf tag, Sumo wrestling balls and carnival rides, an inflatable bouncy area, mini-train rides, giant slides, a free photo booth and water bubble balls. All culminates in the grand fireworks over the water south of the Berkeley Pier at 9:35PM, presented by the City of Berkeley.

Vehicle parking is $ 15 for the day or ride your bike and use the free valet parking near Adventure Playground. Take AC Transit #51B from the Downtown Berkeley BART station into the marina until 6PM. To leave on AC Transit after the fireworks, walk out to University and 5th St.
