Our sliding glass door was sticking and very difficult to open. Alba come out, diagnosed the problem, ordered replacement parts and installed them all withing a few short days. The door opens perfectly now.

My house was burglarized and the thieves smashed the sliding glass door to bits. Alba’s came out that same evening, cleaned up the mess and secured the entrance. They worked with me to get a new door installed seamlessly, and made me feel a little less scared in a big bad world. I really appreciate their prompt, courteous service.

Nice folks, very accommodating. We had antique, wavy, oversized glass in a front window with a nice crack down the middle. Special order, naturally. Ben came & measured, fortunately. Special order took a few days, and we had to go out of town. The day we were back, Lillian called and scheduled us for the next day. Guys arrived right on time, did a craftsmanlike job, cleaned up, and Bob’s-your-uncle. Reasonable price for non-​standard window. Good people, good work. Recommend ‘em.

Working in the emergency service/​construction industry it’s hard to find fast, reliable, quality work at a reasonable price. Albas Glass has it all. The office is great but the installers, the ones who do the work, who communicate with the clients are top notch. I have nothing but great things to say!

From start to finish a pleasant experience! Alba’s Glass came to our house and replaced a door mirror. They had to take the door out, schlepp it down the stairs and out to the curb. When they came with the fixed mirror, they accidentally hit the ceiling light fixture. I felt so sorry for Ben, who was injured on his face. They just came and replaced the fixture. It’s nicer than the old one. They didn’t even ask me to pay or pay half of the light fixture…
If I ever have a glass or mirror problem again, I know whom to call!

I live in an older building in Berkeley and I had a broken window for months. Home Depot was taking months to make this custom window and in the meantime I didn’t have a window that closed. Alba’s Glass was professional, showed up on time to give an estimate and got the job done in less than a week. They truly know what they are doing and got the job done before the estimate time frame.
The level of service they provided was much better than the fools working at Home Depot, who kept on pushing back my delivery date!!! Alba’s Glass really came through and I would recommend them for all any kind of window fixing or glass installation.

When our window broke, we called Alba’s Glass based on the positive Unilocal reviews. The next day (Friday) a great fellow named Ben came by to measure the window and order replacement glass. He said someone would be back on Monday — or Tuesday at the latest — to repair the window. Monday and Tuesday went by and no one showed up. We called them a number of times, and finally — at 5:45 PM on Wednesday — a very professional worker named Xavier showed up. He removed the broken glass, replaced it with new glass, and it fit perfectly — all in under an hour. Both gentlemen we met in person did excellent work. We just wish the company had been more realistic about how long it would take.

I had Alba’s replace some older aluminum windows recently. At first cut, things weren’t quite as they should’ve been. It’s an old house with some funkiness to it so it’s not a shock that some things didn’t go right. But, in my view, the true measure of a business is how they remedy a situation that didn’t turn out right. And they stepped up and made it just as it should be. I have huge respect for that. It’s the kind of company I want to deal with over and over.

I had Alba’s glass come and replace a small broken window that was oddly shaped (curved glass pane that was part of a larger circular glass window). They were right on time, did an excellent job and cleaned up nicely. Very happy with the quality work and Lillian was super helpful scheduling.

Presenting my very first review for 2015 and brace yourselves, it is a positive one. A very positive one I am delighted to say!
On Saturday morning, I slammed the back door and the window broke in many pieces. «Oh great!» I thought among others. I swept up the glass and headed to Yellow Pages to seek help in getting the glass window replaced ASAP. The Mother told me that I would not find anybody available during the New Year’s holiday weekend.
I called around to four places and got quite lucky on the fourth phone call to a place called Alba Glass in Berkeley. I was so relieved when a sweet lady named Lillian answered the phone and on a weekend! I told her of my predicament and that it was an emergency. She gave me an unbelievable price, everything was included in the price. She told me that Ben would be over in about an hour’s time. When I hung up, I checked and read the Unilocal!reviews. Four and a half stars, whew! I was really fortunate and thanked the man upstairs that I found Alba Glass.
When Ben came over, I took him around the back and showed him the door and the broken glass. And I made sure to introduce him to The Mother. The Mother and I obtained his business card before he set to work on replacing our glass window. About two or so hours later, Ben replaced the broken glass window with a thicker, stronger and tempered one. And along with cleaning up, he took the broken glass to be disposed of properly. We thanked him so much for coming on a weekend. Ben told us that his company was a ²⁴⁄₇ business. The Mother and I were very relieved to hear that a ²⁴⁄₇ window replacement business exists. And if any other windows break through no fault of our own or of my own fault, you bet I will be calling Alba Glass.
And true to her word, Lillian emailed my invoice to me the following business day. Thank you Lillian, it was a pleasure doing business with you, Ben, and Alba Glass. Thank you so much for giving us a better, stronger glass door window (and for saving my hide).

Our apt. was broken into while we were at dinner. We came home to an open back door. Alba Glass was the only company that was willing to come late at night, within 45 minutes, and reframe our door, so that we could actually close and lock our door, and feel safe enough to sleep. They charged a reasonable price and cleaned up afterwards. Our only other option was having a piece of plywood cover the whole back door for a much higher price. Both Ben (who did the work) and Lillian (who answered the door) were conscientious and detailed in their manner. We both appreciate their kindness and service during a challenging/​scary time.

I am a property manager, so I get a lot more windows repaired than most people. Ben and Lillian and their team have given me consistently good and fairly priced service. Alba’s work has been excellent, they are fast, and they care about doing a good job.

I’ve worked for years with another local glass company and found that they had far less attention to detail, were really too busy to follow up, and generally charged too much for all those wonderful qualities.
Alba’s was exactly the opposite. I’m sorry the one reviewer below had a bad experience. I guess no one is perfect. Ben is knowledgeable about his trade and his quotes were always quick and accurate.
I used Alba’s to replace some cracked glass, reglaze sliding glass doors, and install shower doors. All with excellent results.
I expect to ask Ben for his numbers first from now on. I get the results I want at a fair price and in much less time than the local competition.

I was looking for a glass top to cover a vintage chest. I just placed my order over the phone and *voila*, exactly what I ordered. I support small businesses because they do more than just give you a great product; they give you sincere customer experience. Not sure about the low ratings below because if you know what you’re looking for, purchasing from Alba’s should be a piece of cake. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, don’t be afraid to ask the questions and purchasing from Alba’s will be. a piece of cake!

Alba has been my «go to guy» for all my glass needs. They are prompt and professional. I oversee a 4 unit apt. building and there is always some glass work to be done, They have yet to let me down. They are competitively priced and very knowledgeable-​I do not hesitate to recommend them!

Short story: find another glass shop if you have needs that are anything beyond basic or want a shop to stand behind their recommendations!!!
Long story: We were so happy to find Alba Glass with all their good reviews. We needed shower glass installed for two showers and glass panels for our kitchen cabinets. Ben and Lillian were very nice and helpful. They got back to us quickly and seemed to know what they were talking about.
But when the glass arrived, all that fell apart. We ordered three things from them. NONE of them worked.
1. Shower glass door for double shower. We discussed what I wanted. Ben described what he recommended. Sounded good to me. What arrived was different. It had this random metal bar that helped to «secure» the glass. It was ugly and the glass wall was still wobbly. Very wobbly. Ben said it should be fine and if it fell, the glass manufacturer would cover it. :| After some back and forth, Alba Glass said they’d cover labor for a more secure option and we’d split the cost of the new glass. I was frustrated b/​c they (1) changed the order I placed and (2) recommended something that was so obviously shoddy when installed and tried to get me to keep it (and if any issue, place a warranty claim with the glass manufacturer). But I just wanted to be able to take a shower in my bathroom, so I paid for it.
2. Glass panels for our kitchen cabs. They installed the glass but it was totally loose. I told Ben, and he dismissively said «impossible». Then he looked and saw I was right. He used some pins to pin the glass in. At least they didn’t charge me for this fix.
3. Shower glass door for shower over bath. I wanted something so that we could turn on the shower and also not have water go all over the place. Ben recommended a certain configuration. I said, fine. Glass is installed and we have guests who take a shower. Water is all over the floor. I take a sample shower to see. The glass is waaay too short. I let them know. They say that no shower glass is water tight. Seriously. The glass needs to be at least 16″ longer. I went with the length they recommended. But they say I just need to buy a new shower door and pay for labor (at $ 800 something dollars). They will not stand by the fact that they said the length they recommended, sold me, and installed is too short.
Soooooo… Alba Glass does not know how to do custom shower glass or kitchen cabinet glass. Nor will they stand behind their recommendations.
Shop elsewhere.

The prices are fair and they do a really good job at repairing whatever glass that you need to be fixed. They are really helpful at helping you decide what should be done and they’re quick.
The installation was really good & I had no problems at all. Overall, definitely go to them because they are really friendly & helpful.
