Description

Specialties

I teach effortless uprightness; how to stand, sit, and move without tension, rigidity, or collapse. I have helped athletes, musicians, actors, and those suffering from back, shoulder, neck, and joint pain. Sitting at a computer need not be stressful. Gait training restores youthful walking patterns and reduces incidents of falling. Breath and voice education improves self-expression and overall health. Mindfulness instruction, addressing habits of mind, is part of every 3-lesson series.

History

Established in 2007.

I began teaching the Alexander Technique in Berkeley in 2007, after graduating from an AmSAT approved training course. In 2010 I was a co-founder of the Well-Balanced Center, in downtown Lafayette, where I practiced for 5 years. In 2013 I built an Alexander Technique studio in Berkeley, where I have flexible hours in a sunny backyard studio.

Meet the Business Owner

Susan Overton E.

Business Owner

I began my study of the Alexander Technique in 2000, when I was suffering from chronic neck pain and physicians were recommending surgery. I completed my training as an Alexander Technique instructor in 2007, when I began my practice in Berkeley. In 2010, I co-founded the Well-Balanced Center in Lafayette. I’m currently shifting my focus to my Berkeley office, since completing a teaching studio.
