Specialties

Berkeley CPR Classes provides official American Heart Association BLS, CPR, Infant and Child CPR, ACLS, PALS, and First-​aid certification training classes in Alameda County. CPR Certification classes can be taught at our location in Downtown Berkley or in any of the other Alameda County cities such as: Richmond, Oakland, Albany, Orinda, Piedmont & Berkeley.

These CPR training courses are taught by American Heart Association CPR instructors. Classes are offered on the weekends, during the week, and in the evenings. The American Red Cross also teaches CPR and First-​aid training classes in Berkeley and Oakland, CA. The CPR classes available are:

American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR which covers Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AHA Heartsaver First-​aid which covers many first-​aid emergencies. All students will receive certification after their training class. We also provide American Heart Association PALS classes (Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

History

Established in 1989.

Safety Training Seminars has been providing American Heart Association BLS, CPR, and First-​aid courses in the Bay Area since 1989. This CPR training company was started by Charles Seidel in San Francisco and now has 5 locations in the Bay Area including: Berkeley, Concord, San Francisco, Novato, and San Jose. Since Berkeley CPR Classes is an official American Heart Association CPR Training Site, they are able to hand out the CPR certification cards on the day of the class.

Berkeley CPR Classes is an AHA CPR and First-​aid Training Center and a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Hello, My name is Charles Seidel and I am the owner of Berkeley CPR Classes. I am a certified American Heart Association BLS, CPR, and First-​aid instructor. I am also a PADI scuba diving instructor and I have taught scuba diving in Indonesia on the Gili Islands and on Koh Tao in Thailand. I have recently opened up a new American Heart Association CPR training school in Alameda County. If you live in Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley, Richmond, or Alameda, this CPR training school is close to you.

I took the class with Sarah who is a paramedic. She’s amazing! Her sense of humor kept the class interesting the entire time. We got a good amount of practice time, and the videos were not terrible to watch. The test in the end was easy, and we got out of class on time. Worth the 80 bucks!

TJ is awesome. I was expecting to be bored out of my mind at this class but ended up enjoying it. I loved the small classroom environment and hands on practice. What really stood out to me, however, was the bits of practical advice TJ would give us about what it feels like to be on scene and what parts of the assessment are super critical to do flawlessly. I loved the free refreshments and bathroom access as well. I also appreciated how easy this class was to sign up for, and that you don’t have to put money down until the day you actually attend!

I learned the basics and was able to practice CPR so it was useful. I am glad I took this course. The classroom itself was cold so I had to wear a thick parka most of the time and during the last 2 hours of the course the room was filled with a noxious smell that caused my eyes to water. I would give them more stars except for the discomfort which may have only been that one afternoon in Berkeley. I had another concern and I was pleased that the company was very responsive and they dealt with it in a very professional manner.

I purchases a Groupon coupon for the CPR/​First Aid class here. I’ve been meaning to learn CPR/​First Aid for personal enrichment and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. The facility was very clean and they provide you with disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer to clean everything with. The class consists if watching a video and the instructor would pause every 5 minutes or so to elaborate and allow for practice. There was a 30 minute meal break in between with two 10 minute breaks as well so the class didn’t feel long and boring. The instructor was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who needs to or wants to take a CPR/​First Aid training class.

My CPR certification lapsed in 2005 and now I have a little one, so I figured having a refresher on how to save her if she chokes would be a great thing. And it turns out, it was! Just yesterday I had to give her 5 back blows to dislodge a piece of apple, and it totally worked! The class was concise and J.P. was a great instructor. He has real world experience and was actually pretty funny. The class is really well organized. We stayed on track, and there was time for questions. I highly recommend it.

I have re-​certified for CPR/​AED twice at this location and had J.P. as the instructor. Both classes were concise and informative with J.P. adding in further situational information that a basics course doesn’t normally cover. No time was wasted during class; we simply went over the necessary information, practiced it, and were good to go. I’ll return again in two years!

Laura was a great teacher. She made it fun and informative. She answered all our questions with expertise. We were done on a little over 2 hours. It was a small class so a lot of one on one training. Straightforward and good experience. Lots of hands on and feedback. Good price too!

This place was great. Interesting teacher who seemed to have a lot of good experience and knowledge. I felt competent after leaving. Plus you get a free disposable CPR mask when you leave. I went for infant CPR, and you have to take the whole class (adult, child and infant) even if you only want one of them. It costs $ 70. You can also combine it with first aid. If I remember correctly, the class took about 2.5 hours without the first aid.

5 years of BLS and ACLS renewals… this time around, BLS refresher 1 hour skills demo with Rasheed, who is an Oakland Paramedic, former combat medic, and worked in NICU… this burn nurse happily learned some new tricks of the trade. I know it something that we all have to do and we try to get it over with as quickly as possible, but I like to learn new CPR skills from different perspectives.
Only complaint… post the schedule with teacher’s names so that I can take ACLS with Rasheed next month.

I have taken CPR classes every/​every other year for the past 15+ years. This was the best instructor I’ve ever had. Usually, I find that the instructors are less than enthusiastic about the material and just want to get the class over with as soon as possible. But, my instructor was passionate, enthusiastic, and had real-​life experiences to share as he is a paramedic and was also a medic in the navy. I was really impressed.
I took the combo class of online + skill check for BLS for the Healthcare Provider and I highly recommend it!

I was **this** close to signing up for a bogus online CPR class when I found out that I had to be certified within a week. After doing a little bit of digging, I realized that AHA does not have any online classes and that I would be required to be in a physical classroom for 2 – 3 hours. It was a close call when I realized the bogus-​ity (not a word, but it works!) of these online CPR classes, but then I was annoyed that I had to spend the time out of my busy day to go somewhere out of my way. What an inconvenience, right? That is where the frustration ends. I signed up for the SF course initially but then had to cancel last minute (I did so easily through a link in my email… literally 8 minutes before the class started… and without penalty… woohoo!). So then I immediately signed up for another course within the week, but this time in Berkley.
Super easy to signup. Super easy to find thanks to the directions in the email. Started on time. JP (my instructor) was great and gave some one-​on-​one attention when needed. Would recommend to anybody! Afterwards I rewarded myself with some poke at simply bowl and then was able to send my certificate to my hospital credentialing committee that same day. YAY!

Loved every second of it! I took the 5 hour CPR, First Aid and AED class with Jean-​Paul (JP) as my instructor.
Class: Informative and a mixture of video, class discussion and a solid amount of time allocated to practicing the material. It was held in a clean, organized space that was not difficult to access.
Instructor: JP did a great job of facilitating the class and managing the questions and the various skill levels of the approximately 10 students in the class. I was happy that he contextualized many of the scenarios for us and elaborated on how the sample video scenarios could have been even better. He was very personable and made the 5 hour class fly by!

our instructor’s pretty cool… knows his stuff, and very patient. Place is easy to find, clean and we even get free coffee, tea and soda. It was a good BLS class with lots of hands-​on exercises and instructor J.P. knows how to gauge which individual needs a little more attention or practice. It was a good size class so the 3-​hr course went pretty fast. Aside from another trainee almost choking on the free granola bar, everything went pretty well! And, I got my card right after the class!
I’d highly recommend this place!
only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is I’ve no point for comparison. Maybe in 2 yrs?!
oh just to add, it’ll be a good idea to do some stretching beforehand or something… my arms are now sore! that’s from all the compression ex we did! I think we did more than 20 sets! I appreciate the opportunity to learn how to do it properly and to really practice… but man! This is gonna hurt for a couple o’ days!

I had a great experience getting CPR re-​cert here. I had been dreading it, thinking of it as a chore, but it was okay! The location was convenient, especially on sunday when I can park on the street for free. JP was good at explaining the process, and it was helpful watching the demo videos one at a time, and getting time to practice each step before moving on.
