Just sold my Mercedes in less than one day after it was posted on Craig’s List through Buggy Bank. They are extremely helpful in selling cars and I couldn’t be more pleased. I worked mostly with Jerry, the Operations Manager. He explained things well and did exactly what was promised. He is a nice person and a strong advisor of the process.
They do all the paperwork and it is a safe place for a business transaction. When I left my car, there were 3 others doing the same. This place is popular which confirms using Buggy Bank to sell or buy your next car.

Visited Buggy Bank to see a car yesterday, and was please to find the people there very straight up to work with. The car I was looking at has not passed smog yet, so they warned that they won’t sell it until they’ve verified that call cars can. The place only handles showing the cars, so they’ll let you negotiate directly with the owner (they’ll give you contact info), which makes them somewhat of a neutral party. They’ll tell you what they know, and always advises you to make arrangement for a mechanic to check out a car before buying.

Wow, just got my car detailed here. They did an AMAZING job! Looks brand new… and this is a car that had done some living.

The BuggyBank is absolutely the most fabulous way to sell a car. The individuals (Jerry and Dana) associated with this lot are professionals, supportive and extremely helpful. They charge, a more than reasonable flat fee, of $ 450.00 for all they do, which include DMV paperwork, etc. In addition they guide you through the entire process and make it seem effortless and easy, which is exactly how it went. Jerry is the MAN. He feels like a family member, who has your best interest in mind. He not only establish a price, which caused lots of interest in my car; he guided me through the negotiation. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have received an extra $ 1000 for my vehicle. The vehicle was sold in 2 days.
I will continue to utilize the BuggyBank’s service for any vehicle I’m trying to sell. They are better than any dealership I’ve dealt with and they sold my car at PRIVATE PARTY PRICE, and like could have sold it for more. I was pleased with the offered and sold. They are the very best in the Bay Area!!! No hassles, no people coming to my house for a test drive, nothing! The word easy doesn’t actually describe the process, it’s beyond easy. I was at a dealership buying a new car and was contemplating trading my car in as I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of selling the car privately, but then the low ball offer of $ 2000 was presented. Ummm, no thank you. Bought the new car and drove less than a mile away to the Buggy Bank to sell it privately. Jerry was awesome to work with and helped us price the car correctly. They also detailed the car on the spot for an additional fee. So convenient! Less than two weeks later sold the car for over $ 5000 and was truly a hassle free experience. Never had to deal with people coming to my house to test drive the car or even field their calls/​questions regarding the car. A hassle free selling experience.

Not sure if my review will go through because it was such a long time ago. But I had a good experience I just had to share it. It was about 4 years ago my daughter lost her license and had to sell her car. She signed the car over to me and I somehow ran across this place online and called them up. They clearly explained what they do and what I had to do. I liked the idea of consignment because I didn’t have the time to meet with potential buyers and found they do most of the work including putting the photo of the car on the site. The place is secured when it’s closed so I didn’t have to worry about the car. I understand why we have to park outside on the street because they save most of the lot for the safety of the cars being sold. They would contact me every time someone wanted to take the car to get checked. When someone wanted to buy it they contacted me and you meet up with them at the office and the transaction take place. I love how they can change over the title there so you don’t have go down to the DMV or worry they get a ticket or accident and you are still responsible. Everything is final when you leave. The whole process went smooth.
Right now I am looking for a car but so far they don’t have what I want but it isn’t there fault. It’s like going to a thrift store, they are not going to have everything you want, you just have to see if something comes available that you are interested in.

I had SUCH a positive experience buying a car here. (The recent one star reviews of offensive behavior from the staff are obviously plants by competitors or crazy people, ignore them.) I had been trying to buy a car for several weeks, reading reviews, visiting dealers and combing craigslist. As a woman shopping by herself, the idea of the Buggy Bank made me feel more comfortable than going to some stranger’s place to look at a car, but there was none of the sales pressure you’d get at a dealer. It was great to get to look at and test drive a variety of cars at my leisure. Dana and Jerry were incredibly friendly, patient with my questions, and professional with handling everything. They gave me lots of great advice to make the process smoother, were honest about the condition of the car as they saw it, helped me handle the paperwork and get me set up with everything I needed for the transfer of title from the seller. They even handled the smogging. I came in on a Thursday and by Saturday I drove away with my very own Honda Fit! Save yourself some headache and time and shop from these guys.
One tip — if there is a particular car on the «lot list» that you are interested in, you might try calling in and make sure it’s available. Well-​priced popular cars like mine can go really fast, and if I hadn’t gotten the ball rolling on it quickly someone else might have snapped it up.

In response to Buggy Banks’ comment, all I can say is, «WOW.» You guys «interrogate» your employees and review security footage with more zeal than the Stasi. All good reasons to avoid you like the plague…

Just plain fantastic.
Dana and Jerry are pros. Even handed and knowledgeable. They walk you through a process that is unfamiliar to most of us and make it easy. And if your car is great and priced right, it sells FAST. As mine did. A really positive experience. I heartily recommend them.

Shout out to the guys at the Buggy Bank for being great and fair businessmen. They helped me sell a classic car, which normally isn’t there clientele, but they went beyond the terms of their agreement to help me out and get the vehicle sold. Basically, I put it on their lot at probably too high an asking price, when it didn’t sell I took it back home for a while and returned later perhaps more realistic on what I could get The worked with me on it instead of taking advantage as they had every right to charge me all over again. They basically did what was the right thing and we sold in 10 days time. Hats off to a business that runs itself with integrity.

Clean cut work place… Make sure Dana Garrett is there to help you, very knowledgeable and helpful. He did all the paperwork for us super professional. If you are like myself and do not want to be available for test drives they do all that for you.

Seller review: The Buggy Bank is quite a nice way to sell a car. I am not the guy to sift through craigslist reply’s from nigeria-​based, fake buyers, or to decide whether a potential test drive is really a prelude to an unreasonable offer. I haven’t got the time. But before you accept the typical low ball offer on a trade in at the dealer you should really consider this service. First of all they have a lot in a highly trafficked part of Berkeley, They vet the customer a bit, They take care of the test drive, Then… they work through the transfer of title and the smog check (which you are responsible for as the seller, who knew?). Well I wanted the sale to be clean and legal, but I would have spent at least three hours online figuring out how to follow all of the rules to execute a proper transfer in CA (didn’t help my title was from out of state). These guys are fair and knowledgeable. The time saved in paperwork alone was worth the fee. I am also convinced it was the detailing of the car (extra fee) that made it sell in about 7 hours on the lot. I was also about 300 under blue book, in the interest of full disclosure.

Had a great buying experience here! It’s one of the few places, you can look, drive and buy without ANY pressure. I probably drove 20 cars before I finally bought. Now, I am a customer for life. Really appreciated the experience!

A convenient service for when selling your own car doesn’t fit in your schedule. Remember is this is a service, Buggy Bank is not a representative on your side of the deal, they will not argue in your favor, they earn a flat rate and their job is to have your car priced attractively to get it off the lot to make space for the next car. What money you earn is what you ask to be set – do your homework if you’re trying to make top dollar for your car.
Pluses: The car is off your property onto someone else’s. Buggy Bank will make sure all your paperwork is in order. You don’t have to deal with lookie-​loos. My car was sold within hours – rare, but it happens.
Minuses: You are paying for service whether your car sells or not – they have a high track record of selling cars, but it’s still a risk. Service can be amusingly gruff, roll with it and don’t get rolled over. The shop people may not have even looked at the car for sale beyond the office window – descriptive words are meaningless, check the cars out for yourself; I’ve seen both gems and nightmares on the lot.

I recently sold my Mustang at Buggy Bank and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an easy way to sell your car.
I was dreading the thought of selling myself on Craigslist, but wanted to get better value than I would get selling to a dealership. Luckily, I had a friend who had sold his car there a few months earlier, and he suggested that I check it out.
I drove over to Berkeley on a Saturday and chatted with Jerry, who was very helpful and got me set-​up in no time. Within a few weeks, I had a buyer, met back at Buggy Bank, and was all set with paperwork and payment in just a matter of minutes.
I’ll definitely come back to Buggy Bank if I’ve ever got another car to sell.

I recently purchased a car from the buggy bank. When the previous owner failed to come through on several promises he made me, the manager Jerry went out of his way to help me. Way easier than trying to deal with someone from Craigslist. And as a woman, I felt a lot more comfortable with such a large cash transaction with their staff there to proctor the deal. Thank you Buggy Bank!

I took my ’96 Honda to them yesterday because I have a full time job and no interest in being my own car broker!
Jerry was very nice and very patient about explaining how they work and helping me set a fair starting price.
When we were all done with the paperwork he even gave me a ride to BART while Dana «held down the fort»!
I was treated with courtesy and respect.
Three days later I had a buyer! Whohoooo! Again, Jerry was patient about guiding the buyer and I through the sale paperwork.

I just bought my second car at Buggy Bank! I hate going to dealerships and being pestered by salespeople, and I tried for a few weeks to find an exact replacement for my dearly departed car at Carmax, craigslist, etc but it’s all either too much work, or overpriced. Buggy Bank is a great way to shop for a used car if you’re not hung up on a specific make/​model. The lot isn’t huge, but they usually have a great diversity of cars there — when I was there a few weeks ago there were Minis, BMWs, sedans, minivans, and a vintage karmann ghia.
I was really happy with the first car I bought here (drove it for years), and I’m loving my new (used) little car. I’ve always found everyone I’ve dealt with at BB to be friendly, courteous, and helpful. I talk them up to anyone who is looking for a used car.

I don’t think I can say enough great things about dealing with Jerry, Dana and all the guys at Buggy Bank. Such a simple idea that works. I wish more things were this efficient!
I’d tried selling my 2007 convertible on Craigslist (lots of nutcases), tried the «we buy cars» places in SOMA and the Mission (they only sell cars under $ 4k) and finally got desperate enough to do the Autotrader instant offer thing. As a side note DON’T. I wasted an entire day driving to far corners of the Bay Area to be told my car was worth ½ the instant offer and on average about 50% of KBB.
Luckily on my way back into the city from a dealership in Concord, I stopped at a little coffee place on Shattuck to regroup and figure out my next move. I am so glad I did, because it was there I discovered Buggy Bank.
I got up right then and drove up the street to see the place. Once there I had an encouraging, honest and pleasant chat with Jerry and he patiently answered every one of my moronic questions and just put me at ease. I had planned on spending $ 500 or so on minor repairs and a detail and he told me it was all unnecessary that my car would sell itself. I was also reassured looking around that there were a bunch of new-​ish cars and more than a few BMWs and Mercedes. These guys didn’t just sell cheapo cars.
So, the next day, I brought my car back and left it in their care. I knew they were the right guys when just while I was filling in all of the paperwork they sold two cars.
I had expected and planned to get below KBB for my car. At that point, I just wanted to be rid of it. I credit Jerry with encouraging me to at least start out by pricing it at or just above KBB to leave negotiating room.
As for me, two potential owners looked at it and the second one bought it with no fuss or issues. Jerry was right, it sold at the top of its KBB — that $ 400 – 500 for them to detail, manage the car and advertise it was worth every cent! I made several thousand dollars more than I expected and I with zero drama or stress. Oh and did I mention, they even gave me ride to BART after I handed over my car?
I’d give these guys 10 stars if I could. In an industry full of fake smiles and promises, these guys were straight up and delivered beyond my wildest expectations. Just A+ all around.
